MUTANT CHICKEN

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because I must be up at six in the morning to announce the new Kritzerland title. You know what’s funny? Let me tell you what’s funny. What’s funny is this: Friday, I go to the Hamburger Hamlet, the second day of my nausea. I have the rotisserie chicken and it is succulent and yummilicious and it makes me forget my nausea for a while. So, yesterday I go back and have the rotisserie chicken. And, as happens more often than you’d think, the same exact meal was inedible. The chicken looked like a charbroiled mutant chicken rather than a rotisserie chicken. I took one bite and sent it back for more rotisserie – I don’t believe the did any rotisserie and when it came back to me it was blackened charbroiled mutant chicken. I didn’t even bother taking another bite – instead I told the waitress to take it away and bring me an omelet, which, I have to say, was equally as disgusting. I’m presuming it has something to do with the day chef vs. the night chef and the difference between the two is, let me tell you, night and day. I shan’t be going back there anytime soon. That’s why when I have something that’s really excellent in a restaurant, I’m always afraid to go back and have it again and have the experience ruined. Now, Genghis Cohen – always great. Musso and Frank, always great. Mo’s – always great. And that’s what’s funny. Mutant chicken – not funny.

Otherwise, my yesterday was uneventful. I slept almost eleven hours, which I really needed. I woke up just before noon. So, the morning was completely gone. I went to storage and got the soundtrack of Nudie Musical, and I had the bad meal at Hamburger Hamlet, and then I came home and relaxed, after which I did the writing that I needed to do. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture I’d TIVOd entitled Unforgettable, one of those silly “high concept” thrillers of the 1990s, starring Ray Liotta and Linda Fiorentino. I like Liotta and Miss Fiorentino, and you also get Peter Cayote and Chris McDonald and a few other good actors, like David Paymer. But the plot is preposterous, if you don’t know who the real culprit is in the first four minutes of the film you need to watch more bad 1990s “thrillers,” and it’s just tiresome. The film looks okay and has a nice score by Christopher Young. The ending is especially cringe-worthy.

After that, I had a very long telephonic conversation with our very own Mr. Barry Pearl, some of which was about this little personal project I’ve been working on. Not quite time to reveal any more about it, but soon, very soon.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must really try and get at least a semblance of beauty sleep.

Today, I shall be up at six announcing the new Kritzerland CD, after which I’ll try to go back to sleep. Then I’ll be taking the Nudie Musical elements to a lab in the Bank of Bur. Then I’ll be going to a lunch meeting to discuss my personal project, and that should be informative and fun, not necessarily in that order. After that, I’ll do some banking, hopefully pick up a package or three, and then I’ll come home and hopefully print out a LOT of orders as well as do a little writing.

Tomorrow, we will finalize Barbara Deutsch’s book, and I’ll be choosing the Kander and Ebb songs and hopefully finalizing the rest of the cast – two more players to go. The rest of the week is busy with meetings, work sessions, meals, and prepping the next Kritzerland release – I’m praying that I’ll have the source material early in the week so that I can get it to the mastering engineer.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce the new Kritzerland CD, I must take elements to a lab, I must have a lunch meeting, I must pick up packages, I must print out a LOT of orders and I must do a little writing. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite chicken dishes – please describe, include any new recipes, excepting those for mutant chicken dishes. I’ve been eating mostly chicken for the last few years and am always looking for new things to try, especially cooking new dishes for myself. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I hope that I will not dream of mutant chicken.
