WHATEVER WILL BE, WILL BE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week has flown by, like a gazelle watching a Swedish crime thriller. I am glad yesterday is done because yesterday had some irritating elements to it, involving an e-mail volley that was really bugging me. The point of the volley has been bugging me for a week now, and I finally had to ask what it was all about and the answers I was getting seemed aloof and not really all that helpful, and, in fact, had elements that made it worse. So, ultimately I made a response that I had to make because I knew if I didn’t I would start to feel negativity, which I will not allow myself to do, ever. I could see that ultimately if things weren’t addressed then things could get really awkward and who needs that? Anyway, we’ll see what happens this morning – I hope it can all be smoothed out because that would probably be best for all concerned, but as Doris Day once said, whatever will be, will be.

Other than that little drama, the rest of the day and evening was okay. I got up and got the good news that Kim Huber was joining the Kritzerland cast for our next show. That leaves only the two guys, although I may need one more gal depending on what happens. Then I did some work on the computer, after which I went and had a sandwich and fries, after which I picked up one teeny-tiny package. Then I spent about three hours importing Alan Jay Lerner songs into iTunes. That actually became quite irritating and took most of the afternoon, but it’s all done now. Then I did invoices for the dealers so everything is ready for shipping this morning. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched two more episodes of Spiral and I think I’m done. Of course, part of my mind was still on the drama, which was really bothering me until I took a shower and washed it down the drain, but Spiral is too “American” for me – and some of its elements are just so off-putting that I saw no reason to tough it out (I gave up directly after a scene in which a drug user who’s swallowed packets of cocaine, takes a poop with the cops watching, so they can get the packets from the poop – you’re hearing this right – when the cop turns away for a moment, the prisoner eats his own poop to get rid of the packets again – I mean we need to watch that???). The fact that “reviewers” on the imdb compare this to the great Swedish and Danish shows just proves they don’t know what they’re talking about. The direction here is American Directing 101, the plot is very obtuse and there are so many subplots going on that the main plot even by episode three has become almost irrelevant. Back to Sweden and Denmark for me.

After that, I wrote the blurb for our next release, and then listened to the master, which was complete except for the bonus tracks. It sounds great. I then chose the audio samples and sent them on their merry way, so we’re all set to announce on Monday morning.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I need as much beauty sleep as possible as I’m going to be up VERY late tonight.

Today, someone is coming by to pick up some CDs I’ve donated to the Actor’s Fund’s Tony party, then I’ll eat a light but amusing lunch, hopefully pick up packages and an important envelope, then relax until it’s time to leave for the midnight screening of The First Nudie Musical. I’m really looking forward to it and I really hope we have a decent-sized crowd. Of course, the thing that precipitated the drama yesterday was being told that the people involved wouldn’t be at the screening – as I said, it was the fourth time that kind of thing happened in one week. Anyway, enough about that, I can’t wait to see what the screening is like and I will, of course, have a full report, although it will be posted very late.

Tomorrow, hopefully I’ll sleep in, and then I’ve got some errands and whatnot to do, then I may go out to eat or something like that. Sunday is, of course, our Annual Tony Awards Bash and I hope all you dear readers out there in the dark will be joining us for what is always the most fun Tony partay on all the Internet.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, eat, hopefully pick up packages and an important envelope, maybe write, and then attend the midnight screening of The First Nudie Musical. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, some Georges Delerue and then various Kritzerland projects. Blu and Ray, who knows. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland and hopefully awaken to a nice e-mail response – as Doris Day said, whatever will be, will be.
