THE NOVEMBER NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is November.  Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it is November.  As always, this is the place to come for all the latest up-to-date news.  And since it is November, let me just say that it is my fervent hope and prayer that November will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.  I do know this about November – it’s going to be a very busy month and hopefully a fun-filled one, with not one but three Kritzerland shows, two of which will be our first in New York.

Of course, yesterday was Halloween and as always we had huge numbers of adorable trick or treaters in the City of Studio.  They began arriving around six o’clock and the kept on coming until about nine.  I’d bought way too much candy, but gave out quite a bit of it.  The rest will go to she of the Evil Eye and our Kritzerland cast at the stumble-through.  It was a fun evening and I got quite a lot of exercise getting up and down to answer the door.

Prior to all that, I’d slept a whopping eleven and a half hours – I knew it was going to happen sooner or later – I was just zonked and feeling weird so out I went until twelve-thirty.  I then had to rush like crazy to make my one o’clock lunch.  We all met at Mo’s and it really is the last time I’m going there.  Poor Doug Haverty got food poisoning several hours after, my artichoke was just weird and it’s just no longer the restaurant it was.  The meeting went well and then I picked up no packages or mail.  After that, I came home and answered e-mails, had some telephonic calls and then went to have an actual meal.  I had some penne pasta in creamy tomato sauce, my first real meal in two days and it was really good.  Then I came home and got everything ready for the trick or treaters.

After that was all done, I then buckled down, Winsocki and got everything ready for Monday’s announcement of our two new CD releases.  I did the eBlast, got my dealers what they needed and that was that.  I then sat on my couch like so much fish and watched the first twenty minutes of the Jacques Tati film Traffic.  Thus far, I would say it’s not in the league of Playtime or Mon Oncle.  The transfer looks great, though.

Then I came back to the computer to find that all our sites were down.  I contacted our web host and he’s working on it as I type this.  I have stated strongly that I wanted it fixed by midnight so I can post and go to bed, since she of the Evil Eye will be here all too early.

Today, I’m not really in condition to jog, although if I wake up feeling okay I may try to do a short one.  Then I’ll do some errands, then come back at eleven-thirty to get ready for our earlier than usual stumble-through at noon.  Once that’s done, some of will go eat something, and then in the late afternoon I’ll mosey over to Redondo Beach, where Adryan Russ and I are seeing Ragtime.  We’ll kill some time over at the local burger joint – I just like to get there early and get my tickets and a good parking space.  I’m sure we’ll see our very own Robert Yacko after the show, plus we know others in the cast.  And just got word that our lovely sites are all back up and running.

Tomorrow, we have our sound check and show and prior to that I’ll just be relaxing.  After the show some of us will go have a proper meal and I will, of course, have a full report for you.  The rest of the week is very busy – Monday we announce our two new CD releases, and then I have a lot of work to do to be sure everything is ready for the New York shows, and I have to cast one or two more people for the LA December show and choose and get them their music.  It’s the holiday show, so a lot of that work is already done, but I do like to switch the show up a bit each year.  We have a good cast so far and Jason Graae is our guest.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, maybe do a jog, do some errands and whatnot, have a stumble-through, hopefully pick up some packages, eat, then see Ragtime.  Today’s topic of discussion: What was one of the greatest meals you’ve ever had?  Where was it, why was it great, and what was served?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland – and might I just reiterate that it is my fervent hope and prayer that November will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
