THE GREAT CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT PAYOUT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I sometimes speak of class action lawsuits about various things – no one takes any of it seriously, but then you read about some class action lawsuit settlement for 18-million bucks and suddenly you think, maybe we should take it seriously. Of course, that requires finding a pro-bono lawyer willing to take it on and feeling that you have a strong case – and believe me, it’s worth it for them if it’s an 18-million buck payday. I say this because yesterday I received an e-mail from a class action lawsuit that I guess at some point I agreed to be part of because, why not? In the e-mail was a link to collect my portion of the 18-million buck settlement, which amounted to $30.43. I got it, printed it out, and will cash it on Monday. This class action lawsuit was against Apple, dating all the way back to the iPhone 4 but only in California, and had to do with a Face Time failure of some sort. Well, thirty bucks is always welcome. And in the ongoing saga of getting the rest of the Indiegogo funds released, my very strong responses apparently worked, and I’m told the funds will be disbursed in the next payment period, which is probably next Friday. When it arrives, then I’ll go into more detail about that saga, as it’s interesting. I thanked them for doing the right thing. I did manage to watch two motion pictures last night – Men in Black and Men in Black II. I saw the first film when it came out and thought it fun and clever in its slight way. I found the first sequel to lack almost all the fun and cleverness of the first film. I’m twenty minutes into the third film and hate it so far, but I’ll stick with it to see if it gets better once the actual plot kicks in. Part of the problem with the third film is the much-missed Rip Torn and the replacement actor, one Emma Thompson, is just no fun at all. And now, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to music by Lydia Auster, not a well-known name at all, and her 1967 ballet, Bambi. She was an Estonian composer from Estonia. It’s interesting and atmospheric music, eerie, tonal, and occasionally lovely. I have several other pieces by her and enjoy listening to them from time to time.

Yesterday was not a ME day at all. I did get nine needed hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, had a long telephonic conversation, and then got all ten scripts sent to where they needed to go. Then I went back to the screenplay, read through the notes of what I have to adjust – it’s really not that much, but there are still other notes that we haven’t decided on and I must say I find them to be bad notes that I simply don’t want to waste time even thinking about, since I know deep down we’d never end up using them because they’re just cliches. I had a pulled pork sandwich from Barbie-Q – very good – there was a flyer included saying they’re no longer going to do delivery services – the fees are simply too high for them. I find that noxious – that these services take fees from the restaurants AND the customer. Anyway, they’re only ten minutes from here, so if I’m craving it, I’ll just drive over there. My continual nighttime nausea is still here and it’s really irritating me. It is, in fact, nauseating. Then I watched the first ten minutes of the Netflix film version of 13. I guess it’s all the rage now to make flop musicals into films and 13 was a huge flop. But they don’t even honor the conceit of the show, which was all the characters were 13 and even the band was comprised of teens. Here, they add adult characters, and the choreography and direction are so awful and so typical of today – hyped up, over-edited, and I called every edit in the opening number, and then called the first flip. The reviews haven’t been kind and Netflix itself doesn’t make it easy to actually find it. But they keep spending the dough to do these things. Someone on some group said they were glad for Jason Robert Brown to finally have a success. Well, a bit too early to call this a success – not with those reviews and not with so little interest. Some thought that Mr. Saturday Night would finally give him his hit – but that didn’t happen either.

Today, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and be on my way by nine to have a light breakfast somewhere, and then I’ll do stuff until noon, including a visit to the mail place, and then I think I need a complete ME day and evening.

Tomorrow, I’ll resume work on the screenplay adjustments and I’m hoping I can get them done in a day. Then this week is finalizing casting for the Kritzerland anniversary show and choosing its songs, casting roles for the web series so we can begin making a shooting schedule, and lot of other stuff, including starting to ship some of the smaller perks, like the 10-CD things, and the other CDs, just to get that out of the way. Then we’ll get to the other stuff.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight-thirty and out the door by nine, have a light breakfast, come back at noon and have a ME day. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite films starring Mr. Tommy Lee Jones? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have received a payout from a class action lawsuit.
