BACK HOME IN INDIANA AND MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I shall be writing these notes in a hurry, for I must to bed very early for I am getting up very early, at which point I shall be on my way to Indiana. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I, BK, shall be on my way to Indiana. Indiana is a state that I have actually never been to, and I’ve been to most states. Certainly I was nearby, having been in Ohio and Kentucky, but Indiana I never made. So, I am very much looking forward to the trip. Yesterday was not quite the relaxation fest I wanted, but it was fine. I had another great night’s sleep, got up, did some stuff on the computer, then went to the Studio CafĂ© and got some eggs and toast and a small side salad. After that, I found I had no mail and no packages, so I bought my travel-sized toothpaste and came home. I packed and then spent thirty minutes online with Apple trying to fix a Mobile Me problem on the laptop, which we finally fixed. Then I spent almost an hour on various and sundried phone lines trying to change my window seat to an aisle, to no avail – some “Elite” member had already snagged it. So, for the shorter leg of the flight I’m in a window seat, which does not please me at all – however, on this small plane there are only two seats, so I’m sure I’ll be able to endure it for the two hours. The longer leg, from LA to Houston, I’m fine in an aisle seat. Then I gave the house keys to the person who’ll be staying and watching the house while I’m gone. Then I finally did a three-mile jog, went to Gelson’s and got a small thing of potato salad, came home and sat on my couch like so much fish and ate it.

Last night, I had no time to watch a motion picture, so I watched Tuesday night’s episode of Lost, which I thought was okay. They only have four more episodes to tie up an awful lot of stuff, and frankly, I think they’re just not going to bother with a lot of it. We shall see. I’d also finished watching The TAMI Show on DVD. It’s a real time-capsule and very enjoyable. Lots of fun acts, like Leslie Gore, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Chuck Berry, The Beach Boys, The Supremes, Smoky Robinson, Marvin Gaye. The big attraction was supposed to be The Rolling Stones, who end the show. However, they made a huge mistake wanting that end slot because they had to follow James Brown, and I am here to tell you that no one could have followed this particular James Brown performance – he was, in a word, electric and, in another word, amazing. The Stones were simply boring after that.

After Lost, I packed up the laptop and everything is now ready to go, save for a couple of things I’ll pack in the morning after I use them.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get these here notes posted so I can get my beauty sleep before the trip.

Today, I shall be taking a trip. I’ll be on my way to the airport quite early, and my flight is at eight. I arrive in Houston, have a little over two hours to spend before the connecting flight to Indianapolis. So, I’m sure I’ll be able to post from there. Then I get in to Indianapolis a little after seven and shall go directly to the hotel, unpack, and then toddle down to whatever restaurant they have. And for those who remember dear reader Lulu (always a favorite), she is now living in Indiana, found me on Facebook, and we’re meeting for a drink this very evening. Isn’t that funny?

Tomorrow, Pogue will be arriving around noon (I’ll do the treadmill in the morning). We’ll play until five, at which point we’ll sup with Jrand and friends, then we’ll head on over to the theater.

Saturday, Pogue will drive me to the old Kentucky home and there we will have a fabulously fabulous time. And then I’m back to LA very early on Sunday morning, from Cincinnati.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, get up very early, fly to Houston, fly to Indiana, and then have FUN. Do send all your excellent vibes and xylophones for a safe and secure and on-time flights. Today’s topic of discussion: Who were your favorite rock-and-roll stars of the 1960s? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I get to bed at this very early hour, so I can be bright and awake for the trip to Indiana.
