Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry for I must be up at six in the morning to announce the new Kritzerland title. Here is a little update on the website situation: I’ve been told that they’ve solved the problem with the notes themselves and how to protect and capture our archives whilst doing the updating to the software – we’ve had the same damn software for the notes since 2005 – I think there have probably been about eight major updates since then. I’ve been told that by the end of the day today both the updated notes software and the updated board software will both be up on our ghost site so that we can begin making sure everything with the board is the way we want it and that the notes software has the ability to do everything I want. I’m still looking for a dear reader volunteer or two to test the new board software for anomalies and weirdnesses – please contact me if you wish to be either a guinea or a pig. So, that’s all exciting.
Other than that, yesterday wasn’t too bad as days go. I got up at nine-thirty – that wasn’t too bad. I did some work on the computer but was out the door jogging an hour later, doing a three-mile jog. It wasn’t quite as hot as the day before, so that was good. Then I went directly to have a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich that contained cheese and bacon that was between two slices of grilled rye bread, hence the name grilled cheese and bacon. When you think about it, they don’t actually grill the cheese itself so why the HELL do they call it grilled cheese? Damn them, damn them all to hell.
After that, I picked up a few packages, then came home. I spent an hour or more sending singers mp3s and sheet music (I still haven’t finished choosing the final songs and assigning them, but I sent what I have chosen and that which I actually had music for). I also sent the same materials to our wonderful musical director, Lloyd Cooper. Then we got the good news that we finally cast the final fellow – Robert Yacko, who we all love working with. Then we got the bad news that our other fellow had to drop out of the show thanks to getting a film role that shoots out of town. So, we then had to scramble to find a replacement – we’ve talked to a couple of people and are awaiting word as to whether they can do it or not.
Then I prepped our eBlast, and we basically got packaging approval save for a renewal date for the film itself – normally we have that in advance but didn’t with this title. Then we had to send the whole thing back and, of course, they didn’t get back to us with the final approval, but since that was their only comment, I assume we’re fine and so we’ll announce and send the packaging off to the printer. Then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.
Last night, I watched the first half of a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Jubal, starring Glenn Ford, Ernest Borgnine, Rod Steiger, and others, directed by Delmer Daves. I’m a big fan of Mr. Daves and the cast, but if I’d seen Jubal I don’t remember it. So far it’s very enjoyable and I look forward to finishing it this evening.
Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get as much beauty sleep as possible.
Today, I shall be up at six to announce the new Kritzerland release, which is David Raksin’s brilliant score to the John Cassavetes film, Too Late Blues, a world premiere release. Of course, getting up at six I shall have too early blues, but that’s another story. I’ll probably go back to sleep after announcing. Then I’ll get up, do a jog, hopefully print out a LOT of orders, eat, hopefully pick up some packages, and relax.
Tomorrow and Friday I have lunch meetings and Friday I may go work with the Outside the Box editor on the blooper reels. Not sure what the weekend holds. I’m told books will be here soon, probably they would have been delivered Monday, but Monday, naturally, is a holiday. Damn them, damn them all to hell. I did get the little free gift that will accompany books sold at Kritzerland. Also, the eBook is now up at certain places, but not the biggies like amazon and barnes and noble – hopefully those will follow soon.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce our new title, I must hopefully print out a LOT of orders, do a jog, eat, hopefully pick up packages, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. Also, let me know what features you’d like to have for the updated board, so I can see if they can be implemented. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I shall arise with the too early blues, which will be followed by the mid-day reds.
