Jennifer, that's so sweet!

She was so proud of herself that she applauded for herself as I was opening it :)

;D

It was the funniest thing you've ever seen. She was literally jumping up and down and clapping for herself. :)
I'm chuckling at the thought of it.

They are just as excited for someone else's birthday.

They are very generous & it is cute they share this passion :)

DR Ginny, I missed your comment regarding Artie's.
I may be in New York the same time that you're there....great place for a HHW dinner!

DL Iris, it would be delightful to meet you at Artie's (or anyplace else) in NYC next month!

What a delightful day of posting.  I think I'll do more food in tomorrow's notes - it's always fun to think about where you first had a specific kind of food and to talk about the great places where you've had it since.

Greetings from beautiful downtown (well, not quite...) Grand Blanc, Michigan!  Mom and I arrived at my sister's about 4pm and she got in her car and led us over to the hotel and helped us get settled.  She's now gone home and we'll join her there for the chili dinner she's prepared.

Will you be stopping in Ann Arbor for some good deli food?

DR Jane, we're going to do a drive-by in Ann Arbor on Monday on our way home, but we will have just finished a Italian lunch in Brighton with some long-time family friends.  I doubt we'll be ready for Zingerman's by the time we get to A2.

I also had some mighty expensive repairs done on my car today. Yikes. But I guess that happens when you make a long-term commitment to a car.

Vibes needed for my sister, Linda. Like me, she is prone to kidney stones (she's passed hundreds over the years). She passed three around Easter. Now, she's facing surgery on Monday because she has two stones that are too large for her to pass, so they have to remove them. One, she says, is in the shape of a piece of candy corn.

I had the same procedure with one stone a few years ago and wouldn't want to repeat it.

I could have sworn Jennifer just had a birthday, as I recall typing:

Happy Birthday to my almost initial twin Jennifer.

I think it was BK's daughter who had the last Jennifer birthday.

Oy vey, does everyone have my initials now?   ;D

Yes

Car is serviced.  Needed new rear brakes - not too bad, though, cost-wise.  Also two tires had nails in them - those were patched but I know exactly where they came from, whether inserted deliberately or not - the jerk daughter of Annette is having a lot of work done and there are work people taking up all the parking places for the last two or three weeks.  They either drop nails or don't like the fact that I somehow have the temerity to park in front of my own house.

I hope you mean work done on her house.

them cheap facelifts  is moider....  don't get me started baout cheap lipo

There has been a bluebird perching on the deck right outside my window here for the past two days.  I am taking it as an omen of good fortune.

A blue-bird sighting usually means there's a tar baby in the birar-patched lined road ahead!

The phone number worked. I spoke to him briefly. He's in the wilds of Missouri and the cell phone connection is pathetic.

My phone rang thirty minutes ago. It was the Facebook friend from 20 years ago. After about a minute, the phone went dead. No cll back. My problem with Tome Warner Cable: where the hell is the phone call record? I need a caller ID machine/device.

I thought you had caller I.D.?

Of course if you don't, I guess that explains why you always answer the phone when I call.

Thank y'all for all the welcomes, y'all.   How nice to be a DR!

Someone asked about the Carnegie in Beverly Hills.  NE corner of Beverly Dr. and probably Dayton Way, in a location that had previously been a Red Onion.  I'm thinking late '70s for this, but I've learned the hard lessons about how unreliable some memories can be.  I, too, love to remember where I had something, where I saw what movie, etc., and I try like hell to be right.

Zucky's.  Somebody said Zucky's.  I can practically see it in my mind's eye, but don't know where it was.  It wasn't by any chance on Pico near the Picwood Theater, was it?  South side of the street?  Maybe that was something else.

Will say what I was going to say about the Mahler tomorrow.  Did that inspire any comments, or might I be the first?  I have no idea which thread it might have been.

Delightful to be here.  Really.

Honestly you should also have something like Easy Gadget on your computer too.  You may have to go to the TW website and download it.  I can't remember how I got it.  I think that's what I did but it was so long ago, I don't know if they installed it while doing another repair call.
