I took a nice nap and feel rested but still stuffed up. Something is blooming somewhere and it is driving my allergies crazy!

In other news I have labeled and packaged up the photos and stills from my Tony Russel interview, and will now label and package up the photos/stills for my Sara Shane interview...then both will be off to their respective publications for publishing (sooner rather then later, I hope).

Just spent a great deal of time in line (or "on" line as the people out here say) at the Post Office. The line was practically stretching outside the building. And they can only man this place with three people?

I was sending a registered letter because I am trying to recoup my fee for a freelance magazine piece I wrote last November! I am trying to keep good records in case I have to take these people to small-claims court.

elmore, do write a really nasty note to the corporate offices of US Air.

Mission accomplished!  I suggest everyone boycott US Air,  United Airlines flights to Ohio may cost more but I will never fly US Air again till the pigs that run it fly.

Well...  My "AAAARRRGGHHH!!!!" that I posted earlier today was in response to a couple of things.  -I can't share all the details, but...  Let's just say it's been, in the words of Charlie Brown - at least I think it was Charlie Brown... This has been a very discouraging day...  Well, more like very frustrating.

-An upcoming project/gig may end up getting postponed due various reasons/problems.

-When I checked my most recent cell phone bill this morning, it said I owed over $800.  What?!?!?!  At first I thought, "Hmm... Did I really talk that much last month?"  Well.. Upon closer inspection, it appears that my "old" cell phone number got hijacked and there were at least 200 calls to the Dominican Republic and elsewhere.  Of course, the calls to the Dominican Republic ended up incurring additional long distance charges.  So...  -Let's call Customer Service.

-Well, that Customer Service rep couldn't help me, let's call again...

-Well, that Customer Service connected me with the Fraud Department, but then once I made my way through the menus, I was routed back to the regular Customer Service department...

-Well... This time the Customer Service rep stayed on the phone with me while I was connected to the Fraud Department... And, yes, once again, I was routed back to the regular Customer Service Department.

-So... "Excuse me, do you think this would possibly go faster if I went to the store and dealt with this in person?"  -That may help you get this problem resolved faster.

-So... I get to the store.  Not too long a wait.  "Erik" ended up calling the Fraud Department, and he too ended up getting routed back to the regular Customer Service department.  Eventually, he got a hold of a live person, and then was put on hold...  We had a nice chat and went over all the numbers on my bill, seeing which ones were mine and weren't.  After a couple more minutes, I was informed that the Fraud Department is now looking into my case, and I should hear something back from them on Thursday.  Of course, the advised that I call the Fraud Department back myself to be on the safe side.

-And that's basically been my day so far.  Hmm...

Who's up for 2-for-1 anythings tonight?

;)

-The one thing that sort of "amazed" me about contacting the Fraud Department... There are a couple of choices - which button to push - to get to the department you need to get to.  Out of the six options, the one that Consumers need to push is "6" - the last one on the menu.  There is even an option for store clerks to call in, and that one comes before the one for the Customer/Consumer.

So... Now I'm taking a little breather.  I did some cleaning here, and Nick came by also to pick up some more stuff.  And I put on some classical music to help take the edge off.  Breathe...

HUH???

Austrailian cuisine starts with it's English heritage, but rapidly expands from there, heavily influenced by it's Asian neighbors but also by immigration from Greece, Italy, Lebanon, and other nations.  Add the abundant seafood available, lots of fresh produce, and an active lifestyle, and you end up with a healthful, vibrant fusion cuisine that many other nations should try to emulate.

Think of it as California cuisine done right.

Except for the vegemite.  That just doesn't make sense.

Ahhh....hence all the Aussie restaurants hereabout!

DR elmore - I'm so sorry to hear about your airline ticket troubles.  If you do feel like trying one more time to rearrange the ticket and not get screwed financially in the process, I'd suggest going down to the ticket office at Lincoln Center - I think there's also one at Rockefeller Center - and dealing with the situation in person.  -This is also the type of a situation where a Travel Agent - who are a dying breed - would come in handy.

*I've also found dealing with the Customer Service reps in the Frequent Flyer offices seems to net better results.  I always call that number on my US Air card, and I've always gotten a real live person on the line immediately rather than the pre-recorded menu on their regular reservation line.

Wow, Jose! That's scary about the cell phone!

A couple years ago, the pastor's cell phone was turned off by Alltell. They noted that phone calls from California and Arizona were placed minutes apart, so they knew the phone number was hijacked. They notified US. Then we had to go through the calls on the bill one by one to straighten it all out.

There's always Outback Steakhouse.

;)

-However, I do have to say that the cuisine of Australia - at least what I sampled while I was down there - was truly varied, and showed influences of many cultures.

-And I actually sort of like Vegemite too.

Actually, it's worse!  The assholes want to charge me an additional $100 for changing the reservation, making it $496!  This is outrageous, and I will not pay it.   I've spoken to the manager of the department and her attitude is screw you.

You know...I think you'd stand a great chance of flying standby...at around the exact time you want to go.  All you do is show up and ask about flying that way.

Price should be much less, too, IIRC.

Sweaty is good!
[/i]

It cleans the pores of the skin...as well as areas of the body that might need some cleaning.

Of course, there's always the smell and bacteria...but GOOD!

Wow, Jose! That's scary about the cell phone!

A couple years ago, the pastor's cell phone was turned off by Alltell. They noted that phone calls from California and Arizona were placed minutes apart, so they knew the phone number was hijacked. They notified US. Then we had to go through the calls on the bill one by one to straighten it all out.

...And then when I asked if they could somehow block the phone number, I was informed that the only way I could that was to cancel that phone number/contract... And since I still had two months left on the Agreement, i was going to be charged $150 to do so.  What?!??! -Well, we could just suspend the number.  No charge.  Much better.

And I was also a bit disgusted that they did not believe me when I told them that I've had the old phone in my possession during the whole billing period in question.

-Where is your old phone now?  "In my left hand!"

-Are you sure no one has used it?  "Yes.  I haven't even had it turned on the past week and a half."

-Do you recognize this number?  -"No."

-Are you sure you don't have friends or family in the Dominican Republic or in Norwalk, CT?  "Yes, I am sure that I have no friends or family in either locale that I would call regularly at 1:52AM"

-Well, Sir, since the phone calls were made from your number, the best we can right now is reduce the charges by half...

I had to explain to the customer service rep that I believe there is a difference between a phone call be made from my phone versus one made from my phone number.  -And that's also when I headed on down the store to deal with someone in person.
