I still think a wonderful film could be made about wrestling - there have been a few, but they're all lousy.
Why pink, of course.I'd have thought apricot, much better for your skin tone.
...Oh, and Fear Strikes Out is good if you like baseball mixed with mental illness.Hey, a film about umpires! (Several I've met, at least. :-\ ;D)
I guess, I'll make my way to the bedroom. The Japanese food is still making me very perky. Perhaps I'll do the merengue/meringue in bed.
Which reminds me -- Joe Namath used to do a pantyhose ad.And he's Hungarian!
EIGHT MEN OUT - kinda long and boring, but I was in it for a second
I think BANG THE DRUM SLOWLY was a television drama first and then a movie.
iDan is playing with iCoworker's iPod. uGuess iWho is getting one of these babies next! Idaho? Ida iPod Ho! Hodie, hodie ho! Mares eat oats and iDoes oats and little lambs eat iVy.
More coffee, anyone?
MBARNUM - I didn't know you had an Apple computer. Don't you have to have an Apple to use the I, Pod?
Uh, oh...I don't have an Apple...do I need an Apple? Shows how much I know about computer and the new technology! LOL!
I'm doing the meringue right now - it is fun, especially in a chiffon gown with plunging neckline.bk is this the gown?
.
and one I cannot think of the name of now...Allied POWS playing soccer against the Nazis.. a little help anybody?
I love the Olympics.
Here is your Allison Hayes Picture of the Week! It is 1955 and she is backing her car out of the garage of the house that DRJAY photographed for me last summer. As he will confirm, that is no small feat! ;D
Happy Birthday, Charles Pogue. You are a week ahead of my sister, whose birthday is on the 25th.
I like "Adam's Rib" as a sports movie.
And...."Players", anyone? Anybody at all??????
Ice Skating... I seem to have seen quite a few ice skating scenes on TCM lately: Joseph Cotton and Jennifer Jones in Portrait of Jeannie, Joseph Cotton (again) and Loretta Young in The Farmer's Daughter, Bette Davis and Richard Travis in The Man Who Came To Dinner, Loretta Young (again) and Cary Grant in The Bishop's Wife.
That would be VICTORY, with Michael Caine, directed by John Huston, I think.
Has anyone else been afflicted with a cold that just won't go away?
I've been dealing with this for more than a week, and it seems to manifest itself differently day by day.
Today, I am feeling tired and a tad bit dizzy. Disoriented a little.

Thanks for mentioning FIELD OF DREAMS, DR TCB. I love that movie, too.
Thanks all for your birthday felicitations. It will alas, be a whirlwind of insurance people, doctors, and car salesmen this week. .

Hey DR Elmore, doesn't this make you feel all warm and fuzzy?
MASH (the only football game I ever enjoyed)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLES POGUE!!
Jose I don’t care for Einstein’s bagels-too chewy for my taste.. We had them in Michigan. I think Bryan referred to them as Goya bagels (maybe that was a different store in Ann Arbor).
Panni-cute group pic. You look like you had a fun time. As always DD looks beautiful.
DR Sandra: Is there such a thing as "cherry Coke underpants"???????
DRMBARNUM that photo was from the 1955 Hollywood Stars magazine article about Allison titled you ought to be in pictures. I think I sent you copies of it.....she is also pictured with her poodle and running up and down the stairs carrying several pairs of shoes.
If you don't have it, let me know.
I ... ran across THE SWIMMER ... as I was ...l surfing.
Of course there is the great Australian Dance Sport movie "Strictly Ballroom".
Not that I know of. And I would be the one to know.
I've gained weight to play the middle-aged BK. I'm losing the weight to also play the middle-aged BK.
Ron, you'll be happy to know The Swimmer is on DVD in a gorgeous enhanced transfer.
I'm glad to know someone ELSE here appreciates this film!
Umm...you do LIKE it, don't you, Tom????????
DR Ron, I suggest you try AlkaSeltzer cold medicine, I also suggest you try the orange flavored one as the original will make you gag
The Paul Haber photo of the week
The next sound you'll hear is DRMBarnum having a stroke (I hope that's a stroke I'm listening to)!
..having a stroke...???
Is that a euphemism??
Did anyone mention "Kansas City Bomber" as a sports movie?????
Whatever do you mean?
..having a stroke...???
Is that a euphemism??
I'll bet TCB knows what I mean.
:D
DR ELMORE thanks for the CD!
DtM didn't even know that movie existed. Is it as bad as Corman's ATLAS?
Maybe it's Theatermania Lite!
Don't spend time searching for it, DtM, but if it falls into your lap, give it a look!
bk is this the gown?Somehow, I was imagining a scalloped hem. :-\

Okay, enough of this idle chit-chat and chiffon frivolity. I must take a brisk, mind-clearing walk and then write my little buns off. You're using them for tax purposes?
Can someone (BK, didn't you mention this a while back?) tell me if the first season Night Gallery DVDs include the original two hour movie with Joan Crawford and Fritz Weaver? It says "original pilot" but I'm not sure that's what it means. TIA. :)Yes, the pilot is included.
DR Jane, I don't think I"ve ever tried an egg bagel. What exactly is it? And why do you prefer it to regular bagels? Bagels are pretty popular here (and you can get them everywhere). So I'd like to know what to look for.
As long-time readers of these here notes know, I am obsessed with The Swimmer, which I've been touting for over twenty years. It's one of the strangest movies ever made, but one that, despite its problems, is what movie-making is all about....In that case, you'll be absolutely thrilled thrilled thrilled to learn that it's being remade, scheduled for this year, starring Alec Baldwin.
DR Jane, I can get you as many delicous egg bagels as you may wish, there is a lovely bagel bakery one block from my home.
When my best friend was in the in the Airforce and stationed in Nebraska she yearned for a good Jewisg Rye, so I would buy them, freeze them , wrapped them in Foil and then plastic backs and send them to her by express mail when they arrived they had defrosted during the trip and were as fresh as when I bought them from the bakery .
I would be happy to do the same for you. They also sometimes have egg and bacon bagels, and I can also get rye, pumpernickel, etc...tell me your pleasure and I will see if I can accomadate you!!
DR Jane: By "sleep elevated", I'm not quite sure what you mean....I live on the top floor of a 4-story condo...is that high enough? : )
While I was visiting my mom (and she gets the Fox Movie Channel), I saw "It Happenedin Athens"...and it was about the Olympics. It starred Jayne Mansfield and Trax Colton.
I couldn't help but think of MBarnum when I saw that name pop up on the screen....sounds like someone right up his alley!
Okey-doke! Ummm....may I ask the meaning, then, of that comment that appears underneath your avatar?
"Will fence for Cherry Coke (underpants)"
I'm sure you've made it clear before...but I must have been "out of range" that day.
