After the show, I stayed and spoke with Jeff Kingsbury (the director of ST:TDBOFS and managing director of Capital Playhouse) and waited for Jarrod. I think that there was only one other person who waited to see him after the show. He chatted with me for several minutes. :) He's a little taller than me...not as tall as he seems on stage. He's very skinny and quite attractive in a rugged sort of way and a VERY nice man. :D
Jose played the piano and Anthony played the Uke. A good time was had by all.

And the word of the day is: FUGLEMAN!
Deborah Kerr has died at 86.
Somehow that doesn't seem so old these days.
These doctors wouldn't feel so lonely and so emprty if they would DO something with their lives rather than sit around and mope about their situations.
DR Elmore - are you still waiting for FedEx?
Thanks, DRs George & Ben, for the interesting theatre reports!
RE PRIVATE PRACTICE.
I kept thinking about myself. When my partner of 8 years left me for another man, I dove into community theater big time. If I didn't get a role in a show, I ushered, sold concessions, worked on the crew, and it was there that I met every single close friend that I have in my life right now.
These doctors wouldn't feel so lonely and so emprty if they would DO something with their lives rather than sit around and mope about their situations.
This gives me an idea for a couple of one-act plays.
The first will be entitled "Godot Gets A Job"
The second will be entitled "Waiting For FedEx".
And that is all for now. I want a full DuPar's breakfast this morning !! DAMN IT !!
But instead, I just had my 2 kinds of fruit.
Must add Paul Robeson to my 1930s singer list. I almost forgot him...well, actually I did forget him.
...
When we remodeled our kitchen the counter tops were just about the last thing to be done.
And in the "who-gives-a-crap" category, I shall continue to share some of the work-in-progress pictures of the typhoon going on in my kitchen.
Here are 2 pictures from day 2, which was Tuesday.
BBL (big belly laugh in Internet lingo).
GODOT GETS A JOB is priceless, Ron.
When our kitchen was redecorated, we ran out of money before replacing the counter tops. That's why there are harvest gold counters in an otherwise cool blue, white, and brushed chrome kitchen.
Interesting Ginny. Did you make the decision to leave the counter tops before redecorating the kitchen? Otherwise I think the counter tops would have been removed before you ran out of money & you would be completely without them.
Gosh, Ginny.....I have your countertops' matching refrigerator and stove!
Actually, it turned out that I was glad the harvest gold counters were still there. Not long ago, the man who build our house for his family to live in 50+ years ago was in town visiting his daughter (our age) and they came to tour her childhood home. The wife/mother had died not long before, and Chris (the daughter) ran her hands along the countertops and said, "It's still Mom's kitchen." :'(
But instead, I just had my 2 kinds of fruit.
And the word of the day is: FUGLEMAN!
The sun just came out here, won't last though. I think we are beginning to have some of those winds heading towards TCB.

I actually feel taller.
But instead, I just had my 2 kinds of fruit.
"For Karen Holmes (in From Here to Eternity), I studied voice for three months to get rid of my English accent. I changed my hair to blonde. I knew I could be sexy if I had to." (Deboarah Kerr, quoted from an interview with The New York Daily Mirror, 11/8/53)
And their names would be?
;D
-I know, I know, DR singdaw more or less beat me to the punch on this one, but I figured I would just go ahead and avoid the euphemism.
Five and a half hours after going onto the truck, Fed Ex has not yet arrived. This is starting to piss me off.
And as soon as I posted that, Fed Ex rang my bell. I should have posted it an hour ago.
Fed Ex rang my bell
It's called Murphy's Law...
Simpatico us...yes?!
George, did you bring a program home? If so, who played Pirelli?
Good morning, good day, how are you this beautiful day. Blue skies, smillin' at me, nothin' but blue skies do I see.
George, who is standing in for Jarod in the photos?
Once again, I'm noticing that Burt Lancaster's feet look so healthy and pain-free. :)
But I am getting steadily better

It is possible to lead a cow upstairs, but not down.

All porcupines float in water.
Dearest SlingDing -- You always seem so sweet, normal, american-pie in person.... and then your mind produces quotes like this porcupine one! I guess it's part of what makes you so dear.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT:
Between 9 and 12 percent of the energy a cow consumes is converted to methane. A single cow can release from 100 to 200 liters of methane each day.

Much of the charm, for me, of singers from the 1920s .....
I also liked CILLALIZ's connection between lots of rain and increased business for her new firm, ie, people only attend to legal matters when they can't do other things.

Her film performances gave me much pleasure. "The Innocents" was most unsettling!
I saw Miss Kerr on stage in 1973 in "The Day after The Fair". She was wonderful.
(I could not say the same of the wonderful Ms Bergman who was not so wonderful on stage)
Deborah Kerr, Teresa Brewer, and, now
Joey Bishop (http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/18/obit.bishop/index.html)

As you can see, the new countertops got put in place, adjusted, and then re-adjusted. I think they are going to look fabulous when it it all finished.
I can tell you someone else whose acting isn't so good away from a camera: Cher.
My BIGGEST smile of the day. (It is only 7.00 am)
Are we sure DR Singdaw isn't a reference librarian?
I haven't seen the show. I just know that we all experience set-backs and disappointments in life and believe that it's how we deal with them that makes us who we are.
I couldn't agree with you more, Matt.
I don't ever want to know how a cow releases methane!
Still waters run deep.
;) [only because there's no "barfing" icon :) ]
DR MBarnum, Colin Clive played Dr/ Frankenstein. John Boles played Victor, a friend of the family.
Another Bowlly fan.
Such excellent taste DR MBarnum.
(Not a comment heard often)
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm off to the gym...
Laters...
Everyone knows it's Windy (a "Windy" reference)

There are two kinds?
I did...and I have it here at work. Adam Randolph played Pirelli. Here's a picture from Capital Playhouse's website:

You have your bear, you have your twink, you have your Latino, you have your euro, you have your androgynous. . .There are two kinds?
From what I can tell, no one is. They just don't have any pictures with him at all. :-\ I don't know why and I didn't think to ask last night.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT:
All porcupines float in water.
Windy Trivia: (for FJL and other Association fans), Ruthann Friedman, who wrote the song, was a secretary at Warner Brothers/Seven Arts (remember when they were called that?) Records and met the Association that way. I believe it was her only foray into Top 40 wonderfulness.
Perhaps someone can forward this notice on to BJ.
Please forward to your acting acquaintances: My writer/producer friend Scott Essman, for whom I have done several makeup/film projects, is looking for a 6 to 6-foot three, tall, slim actor to get into makeup this Saturday October 20th at 11:00am in Monrovia for an appearance honoring the 75th Anniversary of Universal's "The Mummy." The actor will recreate the famous scene of Boris Karloff's Im-Ho-Tep leaving his sarcophagus to snatch the Scroll of Thoth. It will likely be a full-body makeup which will take a couple of hours.
I will be appearing as Jack Pierce, the makeup artist.
We will be appearing with Ivonna Cadaver, Elvira-like local horror show host.
If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact:

LOL JMK it' isn't just the Northwest, here in Iowa where we have lots of cows and more pigs than people, we're trying to use that methane too
I'm pleased you are improving and thank you for the much needed laugh.
This morning I broke my left wrist in 2 places. Keith said he didn't think it was broken, the nurse at emergency would have bet $50 bucks it wasn't, the doctor said it wasn't. I knew what i felt, hoping all the time i was wrong. Thankfully the x-ray technicians did a good job or the second break might have been missed.
Dear sage & wise TCB..... well, "2 kinds" could at least cover me and then everyone else.
Boy oh boy.... a fellow just tries to eat healthy, and the slings and innundo that he has to endure.... :o
You have your bear, you have your twink, you have your Latino, you have your euro, you have your androgynous. . .
Oh my God, Jane. Are you in pain?
Helaing vibes to Nurse Jane (that doesn't sound right)

not really :D since it has been immobilized i can't accidentally turn it in the direction that hurts-too much anyway.
i'm feeling more sorry for myself at the moment, and very bad for keith. he does most of the work around here to begin with and now i can't even wash the dishes.
i also want to wiggle, move and scratch very, very much.
Can you load a dishwasher? ;)
And extra vibes for DH Keith's new chore of washing dishes.
Children's rhyme when I was very young:
Giddy giddy gout
Your shirt's hanging out.
I guess no-one expects shirts to be "in" these days.
At least gout is still relevant. (unfortunately)
~~~~~COMFORTABLE HEALING VIBES TO YOU~~~~~
Nursie! What a calamity! Is it a huge cast? Has Keith signed it? Are you suing the owner of the mutt that ran over you?
.
Well, I think I would settle for a t-d bear.FLATTERER!
Now what can you do to treat gout? Generally, treatment of gout begins with pain management, and this is usually achieved with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and glucocorticoid injections in the affected joints. Additionally, ibuprofen or ointments such as Preparation H may help with inflammation on a short-term basis.
td please thank that sweet girl of yours for meI've just rolled around on the floor with her and her toys. . .that's your thank you. . .
cilla-vibes you need a Martha in your life soon.
DR Cillaliz - Who's coming home tomorrow? ;D??? Huh?
td - Are you serious about the Preparation H for gout?
In other news...
One of my "Janes" in Mary Poppins gave me a very nice Thank You card today, as well as a Macy's Gift Card. :) She has her put-in tomorrow afternoon, and then she's on Saturday afternoon for the first time.
Yikes, DR JRand, I'd wondered if you were getting any severe weather! Looks like we're in for it in the middle of the night.
Has George been online this afternoon? The power is going out in a lot of areas down by him. I just wondered if he had power at work?
Keith was working out at the ymca when he heard a tree fell down on a car, in the area where he parked, it wasn't his car.
What the hell do you do at that job?
;)
How sweet. I suspect someone's mama is teaching her daughter good manners. What a nice surprise!
DR MATTH - Fanny Brice singing "Cooking Breakfast for the One I Love" is available on Nipper's Hits of the 30's, a CD I bought for pre show music for THE SUNSHINE BOYS.
There are two volumes from the 30's and one from the 20's - some of your songs may be on these.
Here is the link to the first one. I love it!! ;D
Hey, give me a break...I've cut WAY back in the past week. I only contribute a few posts here and there during the day now. :-\
WOW! The weather just said we have had 14.68 inches more inches of rain than normal this year...it is terribly soggy. We may get to see the sun tomorrow for the first time in a week.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT:DR TCB's last partner was a snail?
A snail can sleep for up to 3 years.
Looks like DR Cillaliz discovered the same web page that I did! :)Now I found another
DR JANE broke her wrist in two places: Anaheim and Azuza.
Finished watching this "documentary" included on The Jazz Singer DVD - just another complete bore-fest from Spark Hill Productions, the nadir of these people who do these things. Yes, there's interesting footage, nice factual information, all presented without a point of view, without any kind of structure or drama, and believe me, there was plenty of drama. Apparently Spark Hill's motto is Take The Money And Run. They don't even list a director.
DR Edisaurus - thank you so much for the complete coverage of your dinner with Mr. Ivory; it make me feel as if all of the HHW community was there. ;D
Good night, Adriana Patti, Jane, Tomovoz, DearReaderLaura, George, elmore3003, FJL, JoseSPiano.
