That section was, indeed, cut. I noticed its absence, but just barely.

Yep.  It was cut with the consideration of Mssrs. Laurents and Sondheim.

My thoughts and prayers are with Jerry Hadley's family at this time.  Some of my earliest operatic memories - interesting turn of phrase - are of Jerry Hadley's voice.  And he also used to frequently do guest shots on one of the local talk shows in DC.  I was always particularly fond of his renditions of "Una furtiva lagrima" and "Lonely House".

Wow-sa, DR 3-D -- regarding your avatar ... well .... ummmm .... what does one say ...

I know! ...  What big eyes you have! (Big Bad Wolf reference)

Or: Ah-oooo-gaaaah! (Who Framed Roger Rabbit reference)

Or maybe:  .... bless your heart ....

(LOL -- love it! What a hoot, as they say in Texas)

And let me tell you, as fun as Legally Blonde can be - and trust me, it can be silly fun - it doesn't hold a candle to good old fashioned writing like Gypsy. They're not even in the same category.

Speaking of Texas, that's where I am right this second -- so my errant and truant behavior does have a purpose behind it.  I've been traveling ...

Oh, and in honor of DR Mikey -- the word of the day should be:

BOLLYWOOD

(I had to laugh and of course think of dear, sweet, charming Mikey when I read the news that Bollywood was among the 100 words added, inducted, whatever they call putting news words in the dictonary, into Webster  today) .... Mikey you're so hip!

I will probably get pilloried here for saying this, though - but based on the Tyne Daly revival, the Peters-Mendes revival and this one, I wish Laurents would revisit a few of the "jokes" in the opening Uncle Jocko scene, as long as he's cutting stuff anyway.

DR FJL -- How was the trip to DC? Did you post an ode about (if so, tell me what day and post number and I'll look it up).

P.S. I want more chocolates!! 3-D got into my last box from you -- and it's empty!

Now, now, Miss  Karen - your box of chocolates has already been consumed, and I've got the pimples to prove it.

That's my point -- between you and 3-D, I didn't get one chocolate out of MY box of chocolates ...

And next thing you'll be telling me is that we didn't send you flowers.  Well, if I only had  a camera, I could prove to you that your flowers are sitting right here on the table looking absolutely beautiful.  So there!  3D didn't even get flowers, just extra chocolates which I ate anyway, so what are you complaining about?

No need to duck, DR FJL.  I've also wondered about some of those "jokes" in the opening.  However, I've just always accepted them as a set-up for just "dirty" showbiz is at all levels.

*And they also give the actress playing Rose plenty of time to make it to the back of the house for her entrance.

Yeah, I thought I had mentioned that the other day, that I might not see you there because we were on different floors of the theater.  Or did I imagine that I said that???

Or both.

In other news...

Between the performances of Gypsy I attended today, I played for another mock audition for A Chorus Line.  The turnout wasn't as large as the one I played for last week, and, alas, the talent level wasn't as high either, but I was still amazed by the talent and drive of those young dancers.

And for anyone who's watched "So You Think You Can Dance?", we had a "celebrity" attend the mock audition:  Sex.  ;D
