Good morning all.  I'm up, as is Toby.  I "slept in" this morning until almost 7.  Since my usual waking time is 5 or earlier, this felt wonderful.  Toby is getting over his cold, and I am slowly getting over mine.  Thank god for Afrin.
Last night, DH Jed and I let a dear friend of ours take care of Toby, and we went out for a night on the town.  We had some fabulously fabulous Greek food, including souvlaki (I had chicken, Jed had lamb) on noodles in garlic sauce, and some tzatziki with a radish base instead of cucumber, which was delicious.
Then we went to see our own DR TCB in the production of Glorious.  Well, I wish the reviewer of last week could have been at this performance, because it was just marvelous.  DH Jed and I both agreed that our TCB has such perfect comedic timing and delivery, and he was so very funny.  The show itself was very enjoyable too, and the woman playing Florence Foster Jenkins was absolutely hysterical!  It takes a great singer to be able to deliberately sing that badly.  All in all, we really enjoyed it, and it was great to have a night out, just the two of us, to relax a bit.  It's been a very long week.
When we got home, we had about 20 minutes of peace before Toby woke up and the usual nighttime hell of trying to sleep with a stuffy nose began.  Today I'm going shopping for remedies that might possibly help.  I've already got the humidifier and the bulb aspirator, but there must be something else.

Oh yes, Happy Valentines Day to one and all, and also all and one.

Thank you DDIL Ann for the kind words.  Last night's audience was with us from the start.  A wonderful crowd.  Ole!  Our leading lady Sharry, who BK, Jose, and Michael Shayne met at WHAT IF?, was very sick last night.  Still she gave a wonderful performance.

My favorite disco song is On The Radio.  And I like the Village People's songs.

I also like The Village People's movie:  CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC.

Me too!

DR Ann, a romantic evening out with DH Jed & a great show- :)  I especially enjoyed reading about our talented DR TCB.

Thank you, Jane.  I wish you could have seen me on stage sometime.

Here's a pic of "Kitty" and my roommate, Jim, that was taken a couple of minutes ago.

It was sort of a "Farewell Kitty" pic.  Faith had been trying to find a shelter that would take Kitty, but it turned out that her boyfriend - who lives in Brooklyn - decided to keep and take care of Kitty.  -Which would allow Faith to keep seeing Kitty.  ;)

Hmmm...

Sounds like someone needs a Chocolatine and/or Morning Bun from La Farine.

Someone GOT a Chocolatine from La Farine!!  Also, he got a ham and cheese puff pastry that was "to die for."  The pastry is history.  I went next door to Peet's and got a particularly strong large latte.

The latte is currently working on the puff pastry...the chocolatine can wait.

So...

-One can describe which "pretty cupcake/fat-inducing/heart-attack-causing sugary treats" they are eating, but they just shouldn't post pics of them?

-Does "latte + puff pastry = POOH"?  If so, I look forward to the resultant pictures.  ;D  ::)

You ASKED, Jose.  I answered your question.  I didn't just put it out there over and over and over again....

Happy Valentine's Day to all at HainesHisWay.com

I changed the color. Pink is hard to read

I think one of the things I like least about HainesHisWay,  lately, is this  tendency on the part of others to correct someone's spelling or word usage.  Now we can  add to that "color" usage.

I suggest folks use the colors and words THEY wish to...and  others might reconsider their tendencies to "correct".  It comes off rather badly, in translation,I think.

I chose pink for my Valentine's Dayt greeting because I wanted it to be pink.  I had a blue background.  The red looked crass to me.

If it's hard to read, do one of YOUR OWN rather than correcting mine and calling attention to it.

I took it as a slap....and I did not appreciate it one bit.

Love roses.  And Jane might remember I love blue roses - name that play.
Well, "Glass Menagerie' of course.  i assume you played the Gentleman Caller.

I played Tom, actually.  "I have tricks in my pocket, I have things up my sleeve."

Dance A Little Closer has some lovely numbers and some bad numbers and poor Len Cariou's voice was, unfortunately, fairly trashed by that point.

And it was one of the biggest horrors onstage i've ever seen! Liz Robertson looked lke Cyd Charisse doing a Julie Andrews impersonation.

For you Twitterers--the Oregonian reports on its front page this morning that bunch of people who took Mad Men character names are actually Portlanders, and it turns out "Peggy Olson" is a very great sounding jazz vocalist I know.

"@PeggyOlson" or "@Peggy_Olson" or @BadPeggyOlson"?

Regardless of who she is, did she attend the "Shorty Awards" earlier this week here in NYC?

Woo-hoo, Mr. B.T. McNicholl.

I had no idea BT was working on "Billy elliot!" He's a great guy. I didn't see my friend David Chase. I'm sure he was conducting.

I was up early, and at the store by six AM.  When I arrived, there was already a customer, waiting for the store to open.

From six to seven, there was a regular stream of customers, all male.

And it stayed like for the rest of the day, plus the usual customers.

A steady stream of men.

A steady stream of heterosexual men.

A steady stream of poor, poor, pussywhipped heterosexual men.

In fact, the stream was building in momentum as the morning came to a close.

Very few of the men were smiling, by the way.  Many of them looked downright grim.

Gina, who runs the Florist's department, is going to have phenomenal sales once again this year.

There were a few women buying flowers and other gifties, but not nearly as much as the men, and they usually had their girlfriends with them.

Occasionally, there was the guessably gay fellow getting something for his sweetie.

There were no straight women getting gifties for their fellows, as far as I could tell.

Nope, for the most part Valentine's Day is men giving gifties to their ladies fair, but not vice versa.

At least, gifties that involve spending money.

And that is the supermarket report for today.
