Good morning all.  I'm up, as is Toby.  I "slept in" this morning until almost 7.  Since my usual waking time is 5 or earlier, this felt wonderful.  Toby is getting over his cold, and I am slowly getting over mine.  Thank god for Afrin.
Last night, DH Jed and I let a dear friend of ours take care of Toby, and we went out for a night on the town.  We had some fabulously fabulous Greek food, including souvlaki (I had chicken, Jed had lamb) on noodles in garlic sauce, and some tzatziki with a radish base instead of cucumber, which was delicious.
Then we went to see our own DR TCB in the production of Glorious.  Well, I wish the reviewer of last week could have been at this performance, because it was just marvelous.  DH Jed and I both agreed that our TCB has such perfect comedic timing and delivery, and he was so very funny.  The show itself was very enjoyable too, and the woman playing Florence Foster Jenkins was absolutely hysterical!  It takes a great singer to be able to deliberately sing that badly.  All in all, we really enjoyed it, and it was great to have a night out, just the two of us, to relax a bit.  It's been a very long week.
When we got home, we had about 20 minutes of peace before Toby woke up and the usual nighttime hell of trying to sleep with a stuffy nose began.  Today I'm going shopping for remedies that might possibly help.  I've already got the humidifier and the bulb aspirator, but there must be something else.

Oh yes, Happy Valentines Day to one and all, and also all and one.

I guess I'll head down now and check the last mail delivery for a few days, and then start thinking about what's for lunch.

The Secret Garden had some beautiful ballads: Something Special being the standout.

It had a great studio cast

Barbara Cook
Judy Kaye
John Cullum
George Rose
Max Showalter.

The major problem in my opinion was the varying quality of the lyrics. There were three credited lyricists. Some of them were stronger writers than others.

The "tone" of the score was less dark than the Simon/Norman version that played Broadway.

  1. Overture
   2. Any Minute Now
   3. I Will Do Nothing
   4. Just Like Me
   5. Wings
   6. Dickon Is My Name
   7. Somewhere In the Past
   8. Wishful Thinking
   9. My Mother
  10. Before You Know It's Summer
  11. I've Got a Secret
  12. No One Needs Me
      A Secret Place
  13. Something Special
  14. Entr'acte
  15. The Likes of You and Me
  16. Traditions
  17. I Don't Want to Be an Angel
  18. One Patch of Blue
  19. How We Love Children
  20. My Favorite Song
      Wings (Reprise)
  21. Weave a Spell
  22. Your Best Foot
  23. I Shall Live Forever
  24. The Secret Garden (Right Before Our Eyes)
  25. The Finale

The cd that BK re-release did not have tracks  # 12, 17, 23 which were all I think Collin's songs

I also like The Village People's movie:  CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC.

Memory serves me that it was originally being promoted under the title: DISCOLAND: WHERE THE MUSIC NEVER STOPS.

some trivia posted on IMDB site re: Can't Stop the Music

    *  The first draft of this movie was written by Bruce Vilanch.

    * This film was promoted with a nationally syndicated one-hour TV special entitled Magic Night (1980) (TV) also directed by Nancy Walker and featuring a roller-skating Cher, a pajama-clad Hugh M. Hefner and a The Village People song cut from the film ("Ready for the '80s!").

    * Glenn Hughes actually did work as a tollbooth operator when he was discovered by the Village People and invited to join the group.

    * $10 million of the film's $20 million budget was spent on a lavish world-wide publicity campaign that included spectacular openings across the United States and Europe.

    * The leading role was originally offered to Olivia Newton-John who turned it down to do Xanadu (1980). She was replaced by Valerie Perrine.

    * Bruce Jenner turned down the titular role in Superman (1978) to appear in this film.

    * Was the film that "won" the very first RAZZIE award for Worst Picture.

    * Playing on a 99-cent double bill with Olivia Newton-John in Xanadu (1980), this film "inspired" John Wilson to create the Golden Raspberry (RAZZIE) Awards in 1980.

    * This film is listed among the 100 Most Enjoyably Bad Movies Ever Made in Golden Raspberry Award founder John WIlson's book THE OFFICIAL RAZZIEŽ MOVIE GUIDE.

I still have hung on to my copy of the Ethel Merman Disco album.

It's kind of like seeing a car wreck and can't look away although you want to.

Claibe - rhymes with nabe as in neighborhood or Gabe as in Gabriel.  In other words, the "ai" is the same as the "a" in "save"

She of the Evil Eye will be knocking at the door in but a moment and then I will be jogging a moment later, after which I'll return, take a quick shower, coif my do, and then wait for Mr. Geissman's arrival.

I am in that minority than does not love or obsess over granite countertops. Some are lovely, yes, and one friend who has them says they're indestructible, but I had Corian in my last kitchen and was really very happy with it. I did a lot of Indian cooking at one time and some tumeric stained the Corian. Matt did a little research and learned that Soft Scrub is a bit abrasive and took the stain right out, without any shadow.

I agree that lighter floors show less dirt than darker ones. In one house I installed a lovely dark cobalt blue tile in the kitchen, thinking it wouldn't show the dirt. It did. But the white tile I installed in the bathroom did not. Live and learn.

I don't really care about granite countertops and I think that stainless steel appliances look cold and have no desire to have them in my kitchen.

There are a lot of good appliances you can get for less than $7000
