Can someone please tell me what # means, when it is put in front of a person, place of thing on facebook or twitter? It annoys the H E double hocky sticks out of me, because I am not in the know. Or the know.

DR MBarnum, on Twitter anything with a # in front of it is a hashtag--it acts as a sort of bookmark for a topic.  Anyone who tweets on that topic will include that hashtag.

Just finished hand washing, drying and packing up seven boxes of glasses from Sunday's dinner plus various and sundry other glasses that somehow got used. I was planning on keeping this simple. It ended up with 12 of us and 15 bottles of wine. How does that happen?

Thankfully it was a great night.

TOD:

You're tired!

For the last week or so, my dog has been waking us up once or twice in the middle of the night  to let her out.

Then, at 6 am on the dot, our alarm clock  [CORRECTION: our cat] starts yelling to be let out of the guest bathroom.

The good news is that you save money on batteries...yes?

For all of you Barbara Cook and Karen Morrow fans. I discovered this posting on YouTube last night with about 15 minutes of audio from the last performance of "The Grass Harp." Some of it is as wonderful as the album, though the mikes aren't always right for the recording.

Just recorded the song I wrote for the twelve-year-old Melody.  I really like it a lot.  We're calling her show Melodyland and here's the lyric I wrote:

When my parents named me Melody
They sealed my fate
For when you’ve got a name like Melody
Then melody’s on your plate
Ever since I can remember
I’ve wanted to sing and perform
Yes, ever since I can remember
I’ve been singing up a storm

I wake up singin’ a song
And I keep on singin’ as the day goes along
So just give me some words and give me a tune
And you can bet you’ll find me sailin’ over the moon
To Melodyland
Where I can sing any song that I happen to choose
Melodyland
Where there is never a worry or care or the blues
Where everyone’s smilin’
So come walk a mile in my shoes

Every day, music abounds
And you’ll find me dancin’ to those glorious sounds
You just give me a beat with rhythm to spare
And suddenly you’ll find that I am dancin’ on air
In Melodyland
Where any thought that you think somehow ends in a rhyme
Melodyland
Where every time there’s a key change your spirits will climb
The joint’s always hoppin’
So why don’t you stop in some time

If the day is gloomy and gray
I’ve got the antidote
Gloomy and gray stays out of my way
When I hold a money note
And I can go a half step higher, too
‘Cause that’s what I aspire to
So

Each new verse floats on the breeze
And each day you’ll find me doin’ one more reprise
When I sing and I dance, the world is all right
‘Cause when the music’s playin’ then I’m on the next flight
To Melodyland
Where every day I’m just lovin’ the life that I lead
Melodyland
When I’ve got music then I’ve got the life that I need
Where each day is tuneful
And each night is lyrical
When you’ve got music
Well, that’s just a miracle
So, won’t you join me
C’mon, mister, strike up the band
And take me to Melodyland

DR GINNY - polka dots NEVER go out of style.

LOL, DR JRand!  When I was about 13 and in need of a confirmation dress for church, I insisted that my mother make me one out of white fabric with 1" navy blue polka dots.  All the other girls had pastel-colored chiffon and mine sticks out like a sore thumb in the group photo.  Never again!

So I got through allergy season in SW Ohio by using my Rx nasal spray and decided last week that I no longer needed it now that the tree blooms have come and gone.  Didn't realize driving 250 miles north would be like turning the clock back about 3 weeks.  I wish I'd brought that med with me...

I just learned that my dear friend Russell Warner died in Seattle this morning. He's been in terrible health for a long period of time that I cannot say I am completely shocked. I am very sad.

Besides being a very dear friend, he was a talented composer and an excellent orchestrator and arranger. I will miss him enormously.

Beautiful lyrics, BK. I have a friend named Melody who will love it.

As others have asked, when do we get to hear the music that goes with it?

Happy Birthday, Jennifer! Please post a photo of the birthday cake tonight!

Thanks DR Laura. Actually I don't think I"m having a cake.

My mom made a honey cake so that I would have it for breakfast. My niece brought me a piece of a cake. And think at dinner there will just be a big brownie but no cake.

I did look at Costco for a cake that would appeal to me. But i really like cheesecake. And for some reason right now they only have mango cheese cakes.

Cake first thing in the morning-I like that!!! :)

Too bad it is not Ask BK Day. Because I would ask BK why a truck marked with "IMS" has driven down my street twice in the last 20 minutes. It looks like it might have some kind of recording device.

Integrated Medical Services - ?

*I only know of that because my brother, Jay, has considered running in the IMS Marathon which is held in February.

I googled it and saw that. I'm glad I kept reading before posting.
