Just recorded the song I wrote for the twelve-year-old Melody. I really like it a lot. We're calling her show Melodyland and here's the lyric I wrote:
When my parents named me Melody
They sealed my fate
For when you’ve got a name like Melody
Then melody’s on your plate
Ever since I can remember
I’ve wanted to sing and perform
Yes, ever since I can remember
I’ve been singing up a storm
I wake up singin’ a song
And I keep on singin’ as the day goes along
So just give me some words and give me a tune
And you can bet you’ll find me sailin’ over the moon
To Melodyland
Where I can sing any song that I happen to choose
Melodyland
Where there is never a worry or care or the blues
Where everyone’s smilin’
So come walk a mile in my shoes
Every day, music abounds
And you’ll find me dancin’ to those glorious sounds
You just give me a beat with rhythm to spare
And suddenly you’ll find that I am dancin’ on air
In Melodyland
Where any thought that you think somehow ends in a rhyme
Melodyland
Where every time there’s a key change your spirits will climb
The joint’s always hoppin’
So why don’t you stop in some time
If the day is gloomy and gray
I’ve got the antidote
Gloomy and gray stays out of my way
When I hold a money note
And I can go a half step higher, too
‘Cause that’s what I aspire to
So
Each new verse floats on the breeze
And each day you’ll find me doin’ one more reprise
When I sing and I dance, the world is all right
‘Cause when the music’s playin’ then I’m on the next flight
To Melodyland
Where every day I’m just lovin’ the life that I lead
Melodyland
When I’ve got music then I’ve got the life that I need
Where each day is tuneful
And each night is lyrical
When you’ve got music
Well, that’s just a miracle
So, won’t you join me
C’mon, mister, strike up the band
And take me to Melodyland
