Happy Birthday, Jennifer! Please post a photo of the birthday cake tonight!

Thanks DR Laura. Actually I don't think I"m having a cake.

My mom made a honey cake so that I would have it for breakfast. My niece brought me a piece of a cake. And think at dinner there will just be a big brownie but no cake.

I did look at Costco for a cake that would appeal to me. But i really like cheesecake. And for some reason right now they only have mango cheese cakes.

Too bad it is not Ask BK Day. Because I would ask BK why a truck marked with "IMS" has driven down my street twice in the last 20 minutes. It looks like it might have some kind of recording device.

Integrated Medical Services - ?

*I only know of that because my brother, Jay, has considered running in the IMS Marathon which is held in February.

I hope it's not an emergency in DR LAURA's neighborhood.

DR JohnG - Any plans - or non-plans - for your post-paper time?
Next semester starts in May. I will have two classes, one on the Jazz Age (Stein, Hemingway, Hughes, Hurston and a section on the blues). The other is on the cultural theory of cookbooks. I'm setting up that class myself, with the point being that I finish this cookbook of my mother's. I've been working on it for two years, but having a deadline could help me finish it and shape it.

Have you ever visited Kitchen Arts & Letters here in NYC?
I have. But it's been a good 12 years or so. Great place.

And it's just a five-minute walk from where I'm currently residing...

At least it's nice to know they welcome browsers and encourage "just browsing".

And tonight GLEE is on for an extra 1/2 hour.

Not sure if I will get to watch it tonight.  Apparently my aunt really want to watch the Canadiens playoff hockey game. I know i want to watch the DWTS results show. I felt so bad for Karina last night.

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT looks pretty tacky on THE VIEW this morning, but maybe that's the point.

Alas, those very theatrical costumes - and the makeup - are meant for theatrical lighting, not TV studio lighting. -But, yes, a certain degree(!) of tackiness is part of the package.

Well.. Just remember, the Nationals will be taking place in NYC, so... They may not have been attending Wicked, but they might have been at the Gershwin Theatre... Just sayin'.... ;)

Is the whole score as upbeat as the number they did on THE VIEW?  If so, I'll consider buying the CD and putting it on my iPod for walking music.  By the way, I never watch THE VIEW at home, but my sister had it on this morning and I enjoyed seeing Bette Midler and the Priscilla bits.

It's a jukebox musical - all disco hits. It's definitely upbeat. -I'd stick with the original soundtrack from the movie.
