We had a fun rehearsal last night.

Although the director decided that she would stage both IOWA STUBBORN and WELLS FARGO WAGON.....along with the scenes those songs are in......it was quite an eye opening experience for her....and the "choreographer".

Oh...

Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights not only started his own BLOG a few weeks ago, but he also jumped on board the Twitter.

One of his current threads: Casting for "The West Wing: The Musical". ;)

And now...

I need to get the rest of my day started... Which starts off with checking to see what is on - or not on - my schedule.

Laters...

What is the reason they are called "scrub jays"?

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT looks pretty tacky on THE VIEW this morning, but maybe that's the point.

Phoebe was a good friend of my friend and collaborator John Stowell.  I think they had a Connecticut connection--is that possible?

Aww...

R.I.P. Phoebe Snow

Oh, no!  I am heartbroken!  Phoebe Snow has been one of my favorite vocalists since I first heard her back in the 70s.  Oh...

DR JohnG - Any plans - or non-plans - for your post-paper time?
Next semester starts in May. I will have two classes, one on the Jazz Age (Stein, Hemingway, Hughes, Hurston and a section on the blues). The other is on the cultural theory of cookbooks. I'm setting up that class myself, with the point being that I finish this cookbook of my mother's. I've been working on it for two years, but having a deadline could help me finish it and shape it.

Have you ever visited Kitchen Arts & Letters here in NYC?
I have. But it's been a good 12 years or so. Great place.

DR John G - when I get home, I'll send you a copy of an essay that was written for a grant project I directed several years ago.  The essay is titled "All Bound Together" and it's about how cookbook projects (church, clubs, etc) create community.
thank you. I look forward to it.

Too bad it is not Ask BK Day. Because I would ask BK why a truck marked with "IMS" has driven down my street twice in the last 20 minutes. It looks like it might have some kind of recording device.

I dunno....another little "K" runnin' around might be good for his golden years.  I think he needs a second opinion.
