Well, you've read the notes, the notes were back in the saddle, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently listening to Madame Butterfly.

down on Abby's foot during the places blackout.....so she promptly began the show on Page Two.

Then Mortimer and Elaine began having trouble with their lines.

In Act Three - I couldn't get the curtain cord pulled down, I had to stand on the window seat, giving me just a few seconds to loop the rope and tie up Mortimer.  THEN when I struck the match to light the candles during the murder scene, the match broke and landed on the floor, still burning.  I kept talking, stomped it out....and lit another one.

Jack-
Tomorrow/Tonight will be better and the loveliest show ever!    Vibes!!!!!!!

I'm going back to work today after 5 days off. The time off seemed to help a lot. The Swelling as gone down, don't need the cane to help me walk. back and hip don't hurt. Still some pain in the neck and leg, but it's tolerable. Besides I'm bored and want to go to work.

The one and only opera was a child and I saw an abridge version of Hansel and Gretel with just the kids and the witch. I didn't understand why a girl was playing Hansel.

TOD:

The first opera I likely saw was Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors."

Now I pretty much love all opera.  I didn't really like it all that much until I started to study voice in college; suddenly, I appreciated what it was that singers were doing!  I must say, the live opera experience is really enhanced, for me, by the MetTitles system, where the translation appears on a personal screen on the back of the seat in front of you.  On television and DVD, not an issue.

Some current favorites:  Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro," Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress," Copland's "The Tender Land."

Good morning!

We had a nice summer rain this morning, completely NOT in the forecast, but it seems to be over now. The high is supposed to be 79 today, and if that's a signal that cooler weather is ahead for next week, I'm ALL for it.

I didn't have a great night. No pain at all, but after I woke up sometime after 2 a.m., I had a hard time finding a comfortable position to sleep more than a couple of hours at a clip. Still got 6 1/2 hours, but they were very checkered by waking and shifting, the kind of nights I HATE.

My work project today is the third in the series of martial arts movies being released next week on Blu-ray by Buena Vista. This one is a Jackie Chan movie called THE LEGEND OF DRUNKEN MASTER. Obviously, I've never seen it before, and I think it's the longest of the four films being released at 102 minutes. That may not seem like a very long running time at all, but with all the fighting in these movies, that can seem like an eternity.

I THINK that CARMEN was the first opera I ever saw. My aunt used to take me with her to lots of operas since my uncle wasn't fond of them. I wasn't crazy about them either, truth be told. I adore musicals, but opera just wasn't my thing. And I never saved opera programs, so I don't know WHO I saw all those years ago. Finally about the mid-60s when it was clear I was really only interested in musicals, my aunt stopped dragging me to them, and we ended up only going to musicals in NYC and elsewhere to satisfy me.

I've seen many of the classics: TOSCA, LA BOHEME, THE MAGIC FLUTE, AIDA, but never got to THE RING or TURANDOT (which one of these days I would like to see).

Opera....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....haven't seen many - if any.

But I like to listen to recordings.  I sometimes confuse my opera with my operetta, of course.

But as for recordings.....I would like to have a good one of MADAME BUTTERFLY!

Good morning, all! I'm happy everything is going so well, BK! On the reed's ad lib sections, I give you carte blanche to be the editor on what he's doing under the vocals.

I have a crazy day today: Toyland this morning, and then I'd like to catch the runthrough of Act One of FINIAN'S RAINBOW from 1-5. At 7, I'm seing the premiere of our DR Julie's film CLEAR BLUE TUESDAY, which - truth be told - I'd rather not, since I don't deal with 9/11 too well. Still, I have a friend in the cast, i love DR Julie, and I want the film to be a huge success so I'm going. And taking a box of Kleenex.

BK, the Elixir of Love is indeed the title; it's funny, but - like most of Donizetti, I don't think it's funny enough. I remember seeing a City Opera prodction of Rossini's  The Italian Girl in Algiers that was so funny I thought I was going to die with parodies of the Yeston musical THE TITANIC, an Italian family that was so un-PC it was criminal, and a leading lady who thought she was doing a 1960s Fellini film in her toreador pants and sunglasses.

Given your penchant for fantasy and short stories, I think you'd like Offenbach's TALES OF HOFFMANN very much, and I wish you'd caught the LA Opera's spring production this year of Braunfels' DIE VOGEL, which got wonderful reviews. Braunfels in the 1920s was Trude Rittman's teacher at the Cologne Conservatory, and his lush untra-romantic score for DIE VOGEL reminds me of Korngold's film work.

As for the Topic of the Day, my choice would be either Solti's edition of CARMEN, which is not only a wonderful performance but a great documentary of what's been going on with editions of this great opera in the past 50 years.

Or TOSCA with Maria Callas, one of the greatest opera recordings ever made, as well as the epitome of singer and role merging. Callas, both the legend and the real person, meld completely with the diva Tosca in early 19th Century Rome during the Napoleonic Wars. She has the temperament and understanding of this crazy jealopus diva better than any other singer and the rest of the cast is superb.

re: ellen as the new judge on AMERICAN IDOL.

I don't think it's a good idea at all.  I am actually disappointed that paula won't be back. To me a lot of the show was about her vs simon and the tension/attraction.

Does ellen know anything about singing? She is funny. But she was a judge once last season on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.  And she was not good, because she did not know anything about dancing.

She would say they were great and then make a joke. But she didn't have anything to contribute. I fear it will be a similar situation on Idol and can't figure out why they would even consider her (other than the fact that she is popular).

All the other people i had heard about  (that they were considering) were singers or people who knew something about singing. So at least that made sense.

Opera....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....haven't seen many - if any.

But I like to listen to recordings.  I sometimes confuse my opera with my operetta, of course.

But as for recordings.....I would like to have a good one of MADAME BUTTERFLY!

DR JRand59, since opera houses are producing occasional operettas like FLEDERMAUS, MERRY WIDOW, LA BELLE HELENE, or other light pieces, I don't feel you should ever worry about confusing the two forms. The major problem for me with opera houses is that they generally are too heavy-handed with operetta. I've seen too many Merry Widows who are over-the-hill divas rather than a young sexy widow between 20 and 30 years of age who, after being abandoned by her noble true love because of her lowly background, marries the country's richest man, only to have him die on her wedding night; speculations as to his cause of death could be endless. Getting her true love back makes the plot sort of a revenge plot but I have yet to see that angle in a production.

As to the wonderful MADAMA BUTTERFLY, I recommend two items, one is the film from around 10 years ago that I recommend to everyone; the casting is a group of photogenic singers and the production quite a successful film. The kid playing Butterfly's baby Trouble, whose name will be changed to Joy when Lt Pinkerton comes back to her, is a really adorable kid.

And my favorite recording is this one with the great Renata Scotto, a true diva, who never sang better than she does here. I think Mirella Freni is also a wonderful Butterfly, but her recording with Pavarotti is not so hot because von Karajan the conductor is TOO SLOW!

I'm probably not going to watch THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. Every review I've read has given it a teen/early 20s girl recommendation with scant recommendation for anyone else, and despite really liking Ian Sommerhalder, I can't get enthused about adding another show to my already heavy roster of shows. So I'll take a pass on this one, at least for now.

I have to take Callie to the vet at 10:00 AM.  She threw up her medicine and then had litter box problems this morning.  She went and hid down the basement.   She's slowly coming around.  She came upstairs a few minutes ago and is moving slowly, but seems to be a bit better.  Hopefully the vet won't find anything serious.

Don't even get me started on opera.  This last year or so I have been so awash in opera BD's to review, with many more to come, that my head is spinning.  That said, there have been some real unexpected gems, like the Dove Pinocchio and Tan Dun's Marco Polo.

The best thing I did yesterday:  switch to the digest form of CASTRECL.  :)

TOD - Opera is one of those tastes I developed The University of Michigan; it had never been a part of my family's entertainment choices while I was growing up.  Because I was placed in the residence hall closest to the School of Music, most of my friends were music majors.  My friend, Karen (who DR Jose might see at SETC this weekend), was a voice major and prompted me to see my first opera when she was cast as "Second Youth" in The Magic Flute.  I also remember a production of Cosi Fan Tutte at UM and several productions of the University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society (UMGASS).

DR Elmore probably remembers seeing The Bartered Bride and La Boheme at Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music.  And, with my friend Becki, I saw Carmen at Indiana University.

For a while, Middletown had a professional company, The Sorg Opera, but, alas, could not sustain it.  People from Dayton and Cincinnati appreciated their work, but locals did not.  We saw them do several Gilbert and Sullivans, Madame Butterfly, The Marriage of Figaro,, and a concert version of Aida.

Well, Callie is in the hospital for the day.  They're going to try an enema and see if that helps. Glad it's her and not me.  She knew she needed help.  She was actually purring when we arrived at the vet and was still purring when they took her from me.

Boo had her shots.  She was not amused.

As for the Topic of the Day...

I'm thinking the first opera I ever saw was either Carmen or La Bohéme.

When I was in college, Virginia Opera would hand out free tickets to the students in the music department, so I was sort of an opera regular for about four years. However, I still tend to listen to opera rather than attend it. -The Met Broadcasts are free, Met tickets are not.

I must say that I cannot recommend highly enough the Kritzerland release THE NIGHT THEY RAID MINKSY'S/GAILY GAILY.....

Such fun music.....and all of the songs I remembered are there.  And it sounds great.  GAILY GAILY is a terrific typical Mancini score with some interesting orchestrations....and a song from Lehman Engel's one-eyed Turkish prostitute.

And MINSKY'S has the funny music AND songs....and some of the patter...."You go to your closet and get your ascot....."

".....little Chubby Drysdale....the girl with the two....twinkling eyes!"

I'm going back to work today after 5 days off. The time off seemed to help a lot. The Swelling as gone down, don't need the cane to help me walk. back and hip don't hurt. Still some pain in the neck and leg, but it's tolerable. Besides I'm bored and want to go to work.

I'm home.

OMG!  I just remembered that I received it at work TWO DAYS AGO and I haven't listened to it yet! :o I remember getting it and setting it aside and I got completely distracted and your post just reminded me.  I'll be listening to this as soon as I get to work. :D

I have a GLEE question…..Almost half the bottom portion of the picture was filled with Twitter this & Twitter that.  Keith finally had enough and we turned it off.  Was the premier the same way?

Thanks for the congrats DR JRand

That was just for last Friday's "Tweet-peat" of the pilot.  When it was re-broadcast on Wednesday - in the "Director's Cut" - there was no twitter feed. So, if you have iTunes... Or you can also watch it on Fox's website, and Hulu.com I think.
I wish I had been paying attention & recorded the correct showing.  I'm not watching on my computer & I've lost Keith now.  Oh well, maybe we will catch the re-runs.

Am I correct the premier episode was not as good as the pilot?

I'm sure there is one by now!

Oh, God, now I have to hope and pray there's an opera production with naked bodybuilders when he next terrifies visits the City! Otherwise he'll snore and embarrass me.

Now I pretty much love all opera.  I didn't really like it all that much until I started to study voice in college; suddenly, I appreciated what it was that singers were doing!

Ditto!  I've posted this before but one of the absolute best opera experiences that I had was Benjamin Britten's "Turn of the Screw" at Vancouver Opera when I was in college.  It was absolutely riveting.  We also saw a wonderful production of "La Boheme" there.

One of my favorite opera films is "Tosca (http://www.amazon.com/Puccini-Kabaivanska-Luccardi-Mariotti-Bartoletti/dp/B0007P0LOI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1252603525&sr=1-1)" with Plácido Domingo, Raina Kabaivanska and Sherrill Milnes.  It was filmed in the actual places where the opera takes place and at the times of day that it's all supposed to happen.  That's pretty cool. :)

I did not attend a live performance of an opera until I was a senior in high school and we went to see TOSCA at the Academy of Music.  While I was fascinated by the performance (all that drama in those HUGE sets!), it wasn't enough to completely hook me into the art form.  While I would catch the broadcasts on PBS and buy a recording here and there I never became as much a nut for opera as I did for musical theatre.

My favorite full scale opera is LA BOHEME.  But I also love AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS (the only English language opera that I do like.)

Question for those who might know (DR Elmore):  during the 80s, PBS broadcast a filmed version of Strauss' ELEKTRA.  It was done in the style of German Expressionism--it often resembled a silent movie with the performers singing with very exaggerated expressions.  But it was stunning!  I had it on video but lent it out and never had it returned.  I've been trying to find it on DVD.  Does anyone know anything about this production and if it's available?

A bunch of people were frustrated by the "Tweet-peat" screen format.  Actually, the fans of "Fringe", which also broadcast a "tweet-peat" last week, were particularly turned off by the venture.

*However, since it was a "tweet-peat" - a repeat of the show, well... But I can totally understand the frustration if that was your first time viewing either show last week.

I wish I could say the time flew by with THE LEGEND OF DRUNKEN MASTER. I will say that Jackie Chan's stunt/fight work seemed more realistic and less FX generated than in the previous two martial arts movies I've watched this week. And he doesn't mind letting his character get beaten to a pulp or appear less than virtuous.

But the movie's first half was way too slapstick and silly for my taste, and Jackie's a bit long in the tooth to be playing the son of the man playing his father. They looked more like brothers separated by only a few years.

re: ellen as the new judge on AMERICAN IDOL.

I have to ask what possible difference can it make that Ellen isn't a singer?  Paula isn't one, either....she's a dancer with "processed" vocal overdubs that truly don't reflect any singing ability on her part...and the dancing is her claim to fame, not her singing.

One needn't BE a singer to appreciate a good performance.

As for Paula, she went way beyond her overdue expiration date...a talentless hack who for more than a season was under the influence of drugs while on the air.

She is also a prima donna and I'm certain the "Idol" folks feel it's good riddance.  I know I do.

Funny your asking if Ellen knows anything about singing.  What difference can it possibly make?  The audience doesn't have a clue about singing...witness all the horrible choices the audience has made in naming winners and runners-up in past seasons.

I'm gonna get recordings of a couple of the operas suggested here, especially the one elmore mentioned, the Korngoldian one.

It is fantastic! Braunfels was a Catholic who hated the Nazis and left the country so all of his works were banned. The recording of DIE VOGEL was made as a part of the London/Decca series of works suppressed by the Nazis.

TOD:
Question for those who might know (DR Elmore):  during the 80s, PBS broadcast a filmed version of Strauss' ELEKTRA.  It was done in the style of German Expressionism--it often resembled a silent movie with the performers singing with very exaggerated expressions.  But it was stunning!  I had it on video but lent it out and never had it returned.  I've been trying to find it on DVD.  Does anyone know anything about this production and if it's available?

DR Dan(the Man) I know nothing about this, but it piques my interest enough to be curious about it. I will investigate.

Well, I want to go back out as much as I want dental surgery with no anesthesia, but I've committed myself to the film.

When I got back from the rehearsal, I had a curious UPS notice on my door about an attempted "final delivery." When the fat hell was the earlier delivery? I signed for 3 packages yesterday so I am wondering if my delivery man is on meds or drugs?

One opera on DVD that I recently got from Netflix (it was talked about here some time ago) and I really liked (and not just because of the "gimmick" ;)) was THIS (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000RGSW7U/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance) version of Vivaldi's "Ercole su'l Termodonte."

But it was a very nice "gimmick." :D

I think this will be my first opera.

Guess I'll hop off-line now and get started on writing up today's work project. Then, I'll head back down to find something fun t watch tonight until I watch SUPERNATURAL in close to "live" time.

WBBL.
I was a shepherd in a college production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors".

That's funny every sight i've read has showed this as one of the must see shows.

I know ausiello at Entertainment weekly said it. ANd i believe it was one of the few tv guide recommended. I think that EW will have their hefty Fall preview issue coming out tomorrow. And i'm assuming they will have something online.

Although since the show is on the CW i think they mostly do go for the teen market.

I have a GLEE question…..Almost half the bottom portion of the picture was filled with Twitter this & Twitter that.  Keith finally had enough and we turned it off.  Was the premier the same way?

You're talking about the pilot episode then right? You must have recorded it last friday (the cast was tweeting). The pilot as DR Jose mentioned was also broadcast last wed.

The first episode (after the pilot) was aired last night. And will be rebroadcast on friday.

I'm curious why you could not watch the rest of the pilot without keith. Do you always have to watch together? I think you'd like it.

I was frustrated by the twitting tweeting, too, but I was able to record the extended "director's cut" pilot.  Anyone want a copy??

A bunch of people were frustrated by the "Tweet-peat" screen format.  Actually, the fans of "Fringe", which also broadcast a "tweet-peat" last week, were particularly turned off by the venture.

*However, since it was a "tweet-peat" - a repeat of the show, well... But I can totally understand the frustration if that was your first time viewing either show last week.

I think that most people watching on Friday would have been crazy fans of the show viewing it as a repeat.

I think that it was something they wanted to try (having the cast do living tweeting).

I guess i feel bad for those who recorded the show on friday. But it's not like it wasn't announced that they were tweeting. And the regular version was on 2 days before.

I watched some of the tweet show to see what the cast was saying. But i had already seen the show earlier in the week.

Thank you for the offer/offers DR George.  I'll ask Keith when he comes inside.  If he won't watch now I'll probably pass.  I rarely watch something without him anymore.  It is a nice change from when he was rarely home & I watched just about everything without him.

I wrote my post before reading this (i was still on page 4).

I think it's nice to watch together. But sometimes a show will appeal to one person and not the other!

DR Jennifer, yes it was the Pilot Twitter episode & it gave me a headache.  I did not complain when Keith couldn't take it anymore.  We saved the premier episode from last night.

Sometimes it is inconvenient compromising on what we watch.  I nixed the Sopranos & Keith nixed Boston Legal, until we watched to catch a guest star & decided he did like it.  If it is a movie I want to finish & he doesn't I'll finish watching it at a later time.  With tv series I've decided why get too involved if I know he won't watch it.

The meeting with the Rockefeller Foundation was very successful. They were impressed and we did a good job if I do say so myself. I like to think that every one of these that I do cements my position in this time of transition. We don't have a date yet but in a few weeks we will be doing the same presenation to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. It will probably happen after the big housecleaning (at the office) so I may be safe for a while.

Hopefully the concert version was of Verdi's AIDA, and not Elton John's.

Was the tweeting worse than closed-captioning?
Title: Re: BACK IN THE SADDLE
Post by: Jane on September 10, 2009, 05:34:40 PM
Far worse and the twittering was in boxes with colored lettering.  It was like those annoying commercials that go across the screen (have you seen them?), only much larger & took up about 25% of the screen.  It was not about watching the program, it was about Twitter.
Title: Re: BACK IN THE SADDLE
Post by: bk on September 10, 2009, 05:42:53 PM
A scratch vocal is done at the time that the band records - that session is really to get the band right, not the vocals.  Sometimes you get lucky and there are scratch vocals that end up being used, either in pieces or whole, but the final vocal days are to get everything exactly as we want it.

I've been making first-day-of-school blueberry muffins since he was in pre-school.  Why stop now?

The vet wanted Callie to spend the night (Poor things had 2 enemas today), but I knew that she would be miserable in a cage with a howling cat a couple cages over(It was really howling - I visited her before deciding if I'd leave her all night) so I busted her out of the joint.....ok, I told the vet I was taking her home and paid for his services. If she's not better tomorrow I'll take her back, but she is SOOOO glad to be home.

The only opera that I've performed in (and my very first theatrical experience) was in a production of "Carmen" at Western Washington University in 1987.  It was a lot of fun (even though the director yelled at everyone and we had to sight read the score without marking from the very first rehearsal) and set me on a path of community theater performing. :)

Today was the first day back to work. The first 4 hours were okay, but then the pains return and it hurt so much that it made me cry and I had to go home. I lay down and went to sleep for a couple of hours. Resting has helped, but I don't think I am going to be able to do full days. I am going to have to find a MD doctor of some kind to check to see i it could be something else. My GP did not find anything and there was no blood clots. But there is still the pain after being on my feet for so long. I am going to have to see what kind of specialist I should go see.

It was a terrific day - the overdubs of percussion and reeds went well, although, that said, I hate doing overdubs, especially when there's no click track.  But it all went smoothly and sounds really good.  Then Brent came and we began doing final vocals - our friend Jessica Drake and her cute as pie daughter Melina dropped in for a while, and that was fun.  We shot video, and the entire day could not have run smoother.  Brent got seven final vocals (out of the twelve), but my memory of The Christmas Song was that his scratch vocal was just about perfect, so we put that up and played it and it wasn't "just" about perfect, it WAS perfect, so that only leaves four songs for tomorrow.  We start at noon and we should be done by two or three at the latest, which is grander than grand news.  Brent did stellar work today - he's one of my favorites to work with because he listens, understands, and does.  We always do a take, and then I make a few tiny comments, then we do a couple more and that usually does it.  He really knows how to take the tiny comments and implement them and make them his own.  It's going to be a lovelier than lovely album.

I'm (finally) listening to "The Night They Raided Minsky's" and the song "You Rat You" sounded VERY familiar!  I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but it hit me that part of the tune was reused by Charles Strouse to become "Something Was Missing" from Annie! :-X

Interesting.

I always preferred the song as "You Rat You," sung by the incomparable Lillian Hayman, Tony winner for HALLELUJAH BABY! I hope my CD arrives soon.

There was only one bonus item, a 6-minute interview with Jackie in which he patted himself on the back about how hard it was to do these kinds of pictures. (5 minute fight scene takes four weeks to shoot, etc.)

Back then he never used stunt doubles & there tended to be injuries..... ;)  I like his interviews & out takes.

You might have preferred Drunken Master II

Actually, this WAS DRUNKEN MASTER II. It was renamed THE LEGEND OF DRUNKEN MASTER for its American release in 2000. (It was a 1994 film.) The American version of the film (which is a slightly different cut from the original movie) is what Disney is releasing on Blu-ray.

Thanks, BK, for the update! I told Chris I thought he might need a click track for "Christmas Mornings," and he said the drums would keep everything together. That was the only one I was worried about.

I enjoyed much of CLEAR BLUE TUESDAY, and I liked the cast. There were a couple of problems I had and perhaps they will be addressed when the film gets a distributor. I had a couple of surprises: my colleague Curtis Moore wrote the film score. He might have told me a while ago and I forgot that, but he's a good composer and I thought his music was sometimes better than the songs by cast members. I still get teary over 9/11.

It was a nice surprise to see Kelli O'Hara and get a hug. Her husband Greg Naughton plays a business man who falls apart after 9/11 and ends up homeless on the street. I liked his storyline the best and I think it has a hole in its structure near the end of the film.

Dear BK:

What is a "click track?"
Title: Re: BACK IN THE SADDLE
Post by: bk on September 10, 2009, 08:17:06 PM
It's like a ticking sound that goes to the musicians when recording - it sets up a steady beat for the song, so that if there are overdubs at a later date, the new musicians hear the click and know exactly the rhythm and timing of the music, whereas with no click, overdubs are flying by the seat of your pants because rhythm can vary, there can be tempo changes galore and some of them quite subtle, so it takes a lot longer for a player to lock to the track.

As for Twitter and "Fringe" and "Glee"....

As DR Jennifer already mentioned, the "tweet-peats" were previously mentioned when they were first announced here on HHW.  -And I was not the one who posted that news.

The pilot for "Glee" originally aired back in May, then the director's cut was shown last Wednesday, then the "tweet-peat" last Friday. -And I believe there were already a few DRs who had talked about the show after it originally aired back in May, myself included.

I actually didn't think the "tweet-peat" really worked all that well either.  There was some speculation - hope? - that Fox would change the format of the tweet-peat after the negative reactions they received after the "Fringe" tweet-peat.  -And, in fact, due to technical difficulties, the tweeting started late during "Glee", and actually had to catch up for a bit once it did get started.

However, it was fun getting to "see" some of the commentary from the actors.  -And it should be noted that a different set of actors tweeted during the West Coast feed.

It was a promotional gimmick, and for a good portion of their viewing audience it did work, even if it was not an ideal presentation.  *And there were a bunch of tweets from the cast that did not make the TV feed, and it was fun following those live on the web.

Well... Again... Both airings of "Fringe" and "Glee" were advertised as "Twitter-Enhanced", so... -Sometimes it pays not to fast-forward through the commercials. ;)

However, I did find it a little strange that Fox chose to tweet during Fringe, but I guess the show has quite a Twitter following.  "Glee", I thought, was more of a perfect fit for the experiment - even if the actual execution didn't really succeed.

DR JMK - Twitter is set up like Facebook.  Well, sort of.  You can view a person's "Profile", their "Timeline", tweets, but you can only see the "comments" from people with whom you Follow/Following.  -If that makes sense.  -And it probably doesn't. ::)

And to sort of beat a dead horse...

The tweet-peats also allowed viewers to ask questions of the cast and crew during the broadcast, and get responses from them (during the broadcast).

And tonight was the "Director's Cut"! I think the only extra footage was of Matthew Morrison singing "Leaving On A Jet Plane". -Which he "previewed" at Broadway in Bryant Park a few weeks ago.

Well, Time Warner is completely down won't take calls and no idea when they will be up and running. I went to my local subway as they have wifi but their service is down and they're on dsl. So have no idea if notes will go up tonight or tomorrow. If I knew of a place with working wifi I would go do them now but I don't.  Posting this from my iPhone

I went out, managed to get on linksys from the car, and wrote and posted the notes, and am now changing the topic because I simply don't trust that Time Warner will get its act together anytime soon.
