Well, you've read the notes, the notes were done in one take, and now it is time for you to post until the one-take cows come home.

And the word of the day is: PUISSANT!

I loved Penny's pictures from yesterday!

The opposite of MACHOANT.

I did not know that, Der Brucer!
Of course, I don't know what either word means (I haven't taken the time to look them up). ;)

Yesterday, I went to my parents' to visit my cousin and his wife, who are visiting from Oregon. We played a game my parents learned (and I learned it last weekend) called Pay Me. It would take too long to try and explain it in a post, but it was pretty fun. It's sort of like a combination of gin rummy and Phase 10, but you need 11 nickels and a dime for each person. Anyway, a good time was had by all.
-
After I left my parents' house, I went to Fred Meyer to look at electric toothbrushes. I have one, but the metal bar that the removable toothbrush head attaches to is all rusty. :P Costo had a two-pack for $80! :o That's too, too much! Fred Meyer had three different single-pack versions of what I currently have for only $21....AND I had a Rewards coupon and saved $2. Good enough for me, so I bought it. It's now charging up for use in the morning.
-
And finally...When I went out to my car (after paying for my purchase), I saw something in the otherwise empty parking spot in front of me. I actually walked over to it and it was a cell phone! I opened it up and there's a very cute picture of a dog with the caption "Nat You Rock!" I didn't want to go all the way back into Fred Meyer to the other side of the store at that hour (and what if the owner calls and the customer service reps don't hear it), so I took the phone. I figure that it was too late for me to call any of the dozens of numbers programmed into the phone...and where would I start?? So I'll just wait to see if they call their phone. If they don't call early today (Saturday), I will call the work number that I eventually found and leave a message...or I might actually be able to talk to the owner. They might not even know that it was left in the Fred Meyer parking lot. I called my phone from this phone, so I know what their number is. We'll just see when/if they call. :)
-
Hopefully the owner(s) won't call after I've fallen asleep, but before I wake up, when I want to. :-\
-
So, I'm off to bed now.

DR DAW posted a link to youtube video yesterday
It turned out to be a fun video of The Brady Bunch singing. I saw a link to two other videos. The first one was okay, but the second was for the song Time To Change. The poster began the video with such an offensive remark
Unfortunately It Was Only Robert Reed Who Died Of AIDS
For the first time on Youtube I flagged a video and complained about it.
I would like to see it off you tube. What it is sad is that people agreed with the comment and other posters were oblivious to it. (I know others will say that he has the right to say what he wants to say, but I also have the right to see it removed)
If you find it as offensive and insensitive as I do and you would like to complain to youtube by flagging it I will post the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV4hdjXJ2cw&feature=related
It is so sad that people still make jokes about AIDS. I would never wish it on everyone. I have known several people who died from complications due to AIDS. I still remember them.
Thank you for letting me vent.

God there is so many artists out there. Both known and unknown.
Our family has owned an art gallery for over 30 years and I have had the pleasure to see many great artist pass through our gallery. Many who have gone on to great fame in Canada and elsewhere.
I have been honored to have had two pieces of art to be made specially for me. One for my 13th birthday by Norman Laliberte and one for my 50th by Leonardo Creo.
-
Such lovely photos of DR PENNYO!
-
Yes so many artists. Hmmmmmmmmmm......
-
Good morning, all! I didn't go down to Toyland yesterday because I was hoping George would show up, I'd help him with the shelves and we'd finish the job. Well, no such luck. I do have things to accomplish today, so off to work.
I'm happy to hear of the recording's easy breezy roundup yesterday, and I cannot wait to hear it.
DR PennyO, I'm sorry I missed you last night. I loved the photos! You look fantastic.

Last week or so DR ELMORE mentioned a biography of Frederick Ashton titled SECRET MUSES.....I bought it on Amazon Marketplace along with another book by the same author, a biography of Nureyev.
The Ashton book mentioned a friend of his, painter Edward Burra. His paintings are most interesting.
I like many artists and paintings....but I will introduce HHW to Mr Edward Burra - or reintroduce him if you know him.....

Tonight is closing night of ARSENIC AND OLD LACE.
A very successful run, to be sure. Sold out tonight, again!
I am working until 2 p.m. - oh well.
-
Last night included one of those horrible moments.....that happen onstage.....
Mortimer and I are onstage with our Aunts - the Brewster sisters. I give the cue line - and Officer O'Hara knocks on the door to start the next sequence.
Cue line. No Knock. You wait those few seconds for it - and then realize that the idiot has NO idea that he is supposed to be on. You wait a few seconds more and you realize that your idiot stage manager is not on book or paying any attention, but is instead sitting at her laptop playing a game - as she has been all night - and that the rest of the cast is watching on the monitor and wondering why no one is talking.
We ad libbed a bit - I could NOT leave the stage. And then Martha grabbed the hats from the table and said something about taking them into the kitchen - hopefully to find the fool.
An eternity later, dumb ass came in.....that kind of thing just takes my energy and really is hard for me to recover from. We did....but we lost the audience.....who knew SOMETHING was wrong....oh well.....

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And my complimentary beverages have just been delivered to my room. :)

Alas, Bloody Mary's are not on the complimentary list. Ah, well. ;)

DR JRand - Sorry to hear about "dumbass" - well, "dumbasses". However....
Have a wonderful, laugh-filled, sold out closing show!

Ooohh... Burra!

And now I need to get ready for this morning's graduate school auditions. -Although, I think most of the people coming in are auditioning for undergraduate programs. Or something like that.
Laters...

Thanks DR JOSE....and you have a great day, too.
Hopefully someone will sing Ciribiribin for you.

Last night, DR George wrote:
"That's sort of good news! I work with a couple of people who had the lasik eye surgery and one who had the radial keratotomy and all three had to have reading glasses after the surgery! So, I don't think that it's that unusual. "
Which is the very reason I never went through with lasik surgery. The whole point would be to correct my eyes so glasses wouldn't be needed. To end up even with reading glasses seems pointless to me. I have that with contacts now.

I remember seeing PRESSURE POINT when it first came out. I recall liking it, but I've never seeing it a 2nd time.
Ernest Gold was once (briefly) a publicity client of mine.
-
Artist-wise, I'm a big fan of Al Hirschfeld. I have 10 of his signed/numbered lithos in my house.
Hirschfeld was the mentor of Dave Woodman, the artist who did the caricatures in my ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD book.

Good morning!
It was fairly cool this morning, but tomorrow morning promises to be VERY cool, in the 50s which should feel wonderful. However, it's only for one morning, and the highs for all days are to be in the 80s so no relief from summer yet.
-
No work project today! Hooray! Hooray!!
It always feels wonderful to have the day completely free to do as I please and feel no pressure to get something watched and written up.
-
Because I couldn't stand that corded keyboard I was using yesterday, I broke down and got some regular AA batteries to use in the cordless keyboard while the rechargeable batteries are getting a fresh charge. I guess I'll keep these regular batteries up here for times when the other batteries run down (which they seem to do fairly quickly; only hold charge for a couple of weeks).
-
Don't really have any favorite artists of this century or the last. I like SELECTED works by Picasso and Dali, for example, but I also dislike other things they've done. So, I guess no artist stands out for me.
-
I recorded the rebroadcast of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES last night and watched about 10 minutes of it before deleting it. It's just not going to be for me. I hope others enjoy it.
-
I have one more TARZAN film from the Warner Archives to watch: TARZAN AND THE SHE-DEVIL, and I may watch it at some point today. I have THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL on Blu-ray that I know will get watched at some point this weekend. I've been hankering to rewatch HELLO, DOLLY! again, so that may happen tonight.
And, of course, I will continue to watch a CASTLE episode each day and maybe some more Season Two NCIS, too.
-
Good morning all of you beautiful HHW DRs!
It's been a long time -- I am sorry!
DR elmore asked me to return to the board, and I promised him I would.
I really want to thank DRs elmore, Jose and FJL for coming to see the Clear Blue Tuesday premiere. It meant so much to me that you were there. I know each of you had a difficult schedule the past few days, without really convenient time to be able to attend, and yet you did anyway. I really appreciate that.
And thank you very much also to DRs DAW, Jane, Ginny, Cilla, George and everyone who posted such supportive and lovely comments to me on facebook. You are all great.

Ha! It's been so long I don't even seem to have a working profile picture any more. Hmmm.
edit: Yay! Figured out the problem ;D

My favourite artist of the twentieth century would probably be the great fantasy illustrator, Frank Frazetta. I am also a fan of the illustrations of Joseph Clement Coll.

That's disgusting. I can't believe some of the awful things people think it's OK to say (or believe).
Good for you for reporting that person. I think there are probably many of us on the board who lost people who were close to us because of AIDS related illnesses.

I've been thinking about the TOD and I'm going for theatre designers. High on my list are Oliver Smith, whose work I've loved ever since opening the original foldout album of CAMELOT to see that elegant, gold set for the throne room ending Act One. Since then, i've seen lots of his work, from the national tour of HELLO DOLLY! to WEST SIDE STORY. I'm surprised no one's ever published a collection of his designs.
Here's his original design for the Rumble in WSS.

I can't help but think that if I had bothered to go grocery shopping yesterday when I should have, I would have something at home to make for breakfast today.

Then there's the great Alexandre Benois, Russian designer from the end of the 19th Century who designed up into the 1950s. One of his greatest design projects in the original Ballets Russe production of Stravinsky's PETRUCHKA. Here are two costume designs for PETRUCHKA:

And another PETRUCHKA costume:

And the set for the first and last scene of the ballet

bk - the new recording you're working on sounds wonderful. One of my all time favorites is Brent's Kander & Ebb recording.

I also like the great English designer Oliver Messel. Here's his design for the film SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER:
-
And his design for Puss In Boots for the last act of the Royal Ballet's 1946 "Sleeping Beauty."
-
Welcome back, DR Julie!

Thank you, Freddie. ;D

My heart stopped for a second as the UPS pulled up on the side street. (UPS on a Saturday is rare but it does happen.) I just knew I'd have three or four TV box sets being left at my door.

Whew! My free weekend is still on!

I suppose I'm up, because I suppose the oafs are making a ruckus - I think they're laying cement on the side of the house, and doing the pool now - after that happens I can't imagine there's much that's left to do - and then they'll move in, and from there we shall see what happens.

Well, my theatre attendance is beginning to line up. It will be a nice break from the chaos at the office.
In two weeks I will be seeing The Royal Family (part of Manhattan Theatre Club's season) with the wonderful Rosemary Harris. I love this show and I ADORE Rosemary Harris.
The next day I will see Wishful Drinking, the Carrie Fisher autobiographical show. It's part of Roundabout's seaon and it's being done at Studio 54.
On October 12 I will be seeing Dear Larry's production of Finian's Rainbow.
I also have to arrage with Larry to see Vigil. It's been so hectic that things keep falling off the radar.
I need to get tickets to Bye Bye Birdie and A Steady Rain. Part of me wants to see Jude Law in Hamlet but part of me doesn't give a rat's patootie. Superior Donuts is on and off TDF so I should jump the next time I see it. Memphis is always up so I can get a cheapie for that (I don't have much interest but if it's cheap or free I'll do it). I'm very excited about Ragtime. I love it anc look forward to seeing it. I will probably see the revivals of Brighton Beach and Broadway Bound. I am looking forward to Addams Family but I am not looking forward at all to Spider Man. If it opens and there are $50 rear balcony seats I will see it but I have negative desire to sit through a comic-book fantasy on stage with nothing but special effects. I don't wish ill to any show but part of me wants it to be the biggest flop in Broadway history, then perhaps they will stop this madness and go back to producing real shows.

Awaiting the arrival of she of the Evil Eye - her usual parking space in front of the house is not there - there are three trucks there, of course, because heaven forbid they should park on the street where they're actually doing the work.

DR Elmore - this story reminded me of Miss Brown missing her entrance at the end Act I, Scene 1 of Look Homeward, Angel. Ailing Ben is asleep in his bed, Helen's sitting at his bedside dozing and Eugene is waiting to be vamped by Miss Brown's "Pony Boy" song.
DR JRand - did your director come backstage at intermission demanding to know "What the h*** happened out there?" And did you and the cast give the performance of your lives for the rest of the show to earn his gratitude?
Best wishes to A&OL on your final performances!

I have one of these, too. I played the Grand Inquisitor in The Lark, by Jean Anouilh (sp?). As you may know, the GI sits there for the entire play, and then delivers a gigantic (like, 10-15 minute) monologue at the end of the play, after which the henchman comes in and leads Joan of Arc to her fate. Well, I sat there and then delivered my monologue and then of course no henchman. Gave my cue again. No henchman. Made a quick decision and ad libbed something to one of the "church officials" and told them to take Joan off to her little roasting party. After the show went back and discovered (are you ready?), the henchman had missed his cue because, as he appeared on stage shirtless, he had been drawing chest hair on his chest with an eyebrow pencil.

John's Pizza after the show or should we try Angus McIndoes?

BROKEN LEG VIBES for JRAND tonoight I wish I couild see one of yoir shows sometimes - do you ever record them for posterity?
While I sympathize with all your horrioble onstage moments I must admit they all gave me a good laugh!
-
I was doing theatre in the round - I was playing a nurse and I was wearing my nurses' uniform in the second act but in Act three I had moved to the main character's home and was now dresed in a red dress
We were performing for a group of senior citizens - one hard of hearing man shouted to his wife "Who is that one in the red dress? "
"it's the nurse from the last act"
"Can't be - the nurse didn't have such a big ass"
-
Then there was teh murder mystery dinner we did when the detective - also teh author of the show decided to rewrite the sdhow - duringthe performance -
suddenly we were all in chairs facing the audience and the identity of the murderer was changed - to me!
that was fun too
-

Elmore- I just got our tickets for Finians' Rainbow - the Saturday matinee- October 24 at 2 PM
John's Pizza after the show or should we try Angus McIndoes?
Cool!!!
Richard and I have just begun talking about a trip Oct. 22-27 to see Finian's Rainbow and Ragtime. I hadn't even contacted DR Elmore yet.

~~~Vibes for a Problem-Free Final Show!!~~~
DR DAW posted a link to youtube video yesterday
It turned out to be a fun video of The Brady Bunch singing. I saw a link to two other videos. The first one was okay, but the second was for the song Time To Change. The poster began the video with such an offensive remark
Unfortunately It Was Only Robert Reed Who Died Of AIDS
For the first time on Youtube I flagged a video and complained about it.
I would like to see it off you tube. What it is sad is that people agreed with the comment and other posters were oblivious to it. (I know others will say that he has the right to say what he wants to say, but I also have the right to see it removed)
If you find it as offensive and insensitive as I do and you would like to complain to youtube by flagging it I will post the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV4hdjXJ2cw&feature=related
It is so sad that people still make jokes about AIDS. I would never wish it on everyone. I have known several people who died from complications due to AIDS. I still remember them.
Thank you for letting me vent.
I flagged this and sent a message, also. :P
Some people's children! >:(
Well, I mosey on over to Home Depot and buy some fill dirt.
Home Depot is selling porn?
Why, I don't know what you mean?
I misread "fill dirt" as "film dirt." Spoo!
John's pizzeria! Mo' pizza!
Hopefully the owner(s) won't call after I've fallen asleep, but before I wake up, when I want to. :-\
With your luck the FBI is tracing the phone now to bust the drug dealer.
der Brucer
Anything's possible. ::) I looked through the person's contacts list and saw separate listings for Mom and Dad, but both are in different time zones that where I am...and from each other. I'm going to call the work number after I take a shower.
-
I recorded the rebroadcast of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES last night and watched about 10 minutes of it before deleting it. It's just not going to be for me. I hope others enjoy it.
I actually watched about a half hour before I gave up. It's just not my cuppa.
-
Back from Lowes (instead of Home Depot). Bought a leaf blower, some fill dirt, and other assorted macho types of things.
Be still my heart! ;)
-
Well, I need to leave. I have to take a shower, get dressed, call the work number of the phone that I found (I'm surprised that the owner hasn't call his/her own phone!) and work concessions for Wrinkles of Washington - Mystery at Hornsby Manor (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/calendar/calendar_detail.asp?event_id=1122). After that, I'm going to my sister's to visit with the family and the cousins who came up from Oregon. They're leaving tomorrow morning, so this'll be the last chance to visit with them. They only arrived yesterday, so they aren't here for very long, anyway.
And that's my day. Have a good one, everyone! ;D
What a horrible story, DR JRand59! Break a leg tonight, and, for a souvenir of the production after the show, break the laptop over the stage manager's head.
DR Elmore - this story reminded me of Miss Brown missing her entrance at the end Act I, Scene 1 of Look Homeward, Angel. Ailing Ben is asleep in his bed, Helen's sitting at his bedside dozing and Eugene is waiting to be vamped by Miss Brown's "Pony Boy" song.
DR JRand - did your director come backstage at intermission demanding to know "What the h*** happened out there?" And did you and the cast give the performance of your lives for the rest of the show to earn his gratitude?
Best wishes to A&OL on your final performances!
After the show went back and discovered (are you ready?), the henchman had missed his cue because, as he appeared on stage shirtless, he had been drawing chest hair on his chest with an eyebrow pencil.
:o ::) ;D
TOD - I know it is proabably a very unsophisticated view - but I truly love Norman Rockwell paintings - think they have so much heart and soul in them
Years ago Keith & I went to the Norman Rockwell museum and discovered the beauty in the original paintings.
Penny, that photo of you and the bird is absolutely stunning!
-
Alas, Bloody Mary's are not on the complimentary list. Ah, well. ;)
Any Mermosas?
-
DR Julie, how nice to see you back posting again. I can't wait to see your film.
-
Good Afternoon!
I started at 10:00am. 50 or so auditions later, I was done - and a bunch of them were "actors only", so I had a couple of "breaks" throughout the morning. All in all, a good day with the usual episodes of cluelessness and frustration.
-
Then, since I realized that today was the last day of Blues, Brews & BBQ - or is it "Brews, Blues & BBQ"? - I went ahead and had some more barbeque today. Since I had had a pulled pork sandwich yesterday, I opted for some ribs today - just a "3-bone sampler". They were good, but not stellar - I think they needed just a few more minutes in the smoker. However, the sauces were quite tasty.
-
Oh! And I also had a roasted ear of corn. YUM!
-
Good morning everyone.
Thanks for the videos and pics.
-
OH! And I also had a funnel cake. YUM!!!
*And I believe it was the first funnel cake that I've had in 10-12 years. It was well worth the wait. :)
-
DR PennyO - I didn't realize you spoke "Raccoon" too. ;) -Beautiful picture.
-
DR vixmom - bk's new book is available for pre-order by sending $ via Paypal - but I can't remember at this point how much, exactly.
-
I have spent most of the day sleeping because I have developed a quick-onset nasty cold on top of my seasonal allergies, and to be vertical is to be miserable. :P
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
There's almost too many artists and too many individual works to list. However...
Almost anything in the French galleries at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Almost anything on the fourth and fifth floors of MoMA.
Most of the East Wing of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
Etc., etc., etc.... ;)
CLOSING NIGHT VIBES TO DR JRAND59!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
DR elmore - You may have already done so, but have you checked out the Diaghilev exhibit at NYPL Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center? Lots of great sketches and costumes. -And prompt books, letters, annotated scores, manuscripts...
-
DR JRand - Since an actor is not normally supposed to eat and drink in costume, just go over to your stage manager with a cup of coffee in hand... And "accidentally" trip on something... And "accidentally" spill the coffee on her laptop... Then just walk away. No "I'm sorry".
-But that's just me. ::)
-
Topic of the day, signed prints on my wall. I love color. by:
Frank Romero
Patssi Valdez

DR elmore - Alas, the recently closed exhibit at MoMA, "Drawing for the Stage", included orignal sketches by Mssrs. Smith, Benois and Messel.

No. It's because he wants to be a lesbian.

Well, George, it isn't like they traveled from Siberia! They are only visiting from Oregon.
-
I have one of these, too.
Hmmmm... That reminds of a fit of giggles that afflicted the First National Company of Les Miserable at the Kennedy Center during the "Wedding Round". I really can't go into specifics on this family site, but I will say that the following were involved: ensemble woman, va-jay-jay hair, scissors and spirit gum.
-
DR elmore - You may have already done so, but have you checked out the Diaghilev exhibit at NYPL Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center? Lots of great sketches and costumes. -And prompt books, letters, annotated scores, manuscripts...
No, and I want to do it. When Nijinsky choreographed "Le sacre du printemps," the dancers counted the 5/4 section as "ser-gei dia-ghi-lev."
-
This morning I made the impulse purchase of the new Beatles Abbey Road and St. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. I wanted to be transported back to that time in my life, but something is different. The memory and sound are not the same.
Oh well.

Closing night vibes for JRand59.

There have been a lot of resports of things just not sounding "the same". Yes, the recordings may be "cleaned up" and "clearer", but that, in essence, makes them different.

Dear td,
beautiful color, thank you.

Thanks Jose.
The cd's are still really good, I'll listen to them alot.
-
Must get ready to go to the beach area.
Have a good afternoon and evening everyone. :) ;) ;D 8) :-* :-[
-
I guess I should really say that my favorite artist would have to be Michelangelo. The thing I am looking forward to most about my trip in November (other than being away from my F---ing office) is seeing The Sistine Chapel, The Pietà, and the stautue of David. The thought of actually seeing these works of art in person, is totally beyond my wildest dreams.
-
I had a pretty good day so far with only a couple of muscle cramping incidents in my right hand. When I got up this morning, my hand felt close to normal, but later on the cramping returned, and then it ebbs and returns throughout the day.
-
I watched an NCIS episode while I was waiting to begin cooking lunch. It had a Marine family under attack and Gibbs thinking it was some kind of terrorist plot. Turned out that the trouble was a lot closer to home.
-
While I ate lunch, I watched last night's episode of PSYCH. Enjoyed Shawn taking the lead on the case, and certainly loved Stephen Lang in his guest star role.
-
I watched the second CASTLE episode, the one about the murder of the nanny. Some fun banter between the two leads.
-
Had some nice converwsations this afternoon on the telephone. I feel almost like a shut-in, so these calls do help bring what my friends are doing back into my consciousness.
-
Page Six Dance!!!
-
DR DAW I hope your cold is short lived!!!

I don't think I have one particular artist who I think is my favorite. However, I do love those poker-playing dogs.

I'm going to head back down and begin my viewing for this evening. Haven't yet decided what exactly I want to watch, but it'll be a mix of new discs and revisiting some favorite ones.
WBBL.
-
My computer keeps freezing again. I may have to go back to using the laptop. Keith fixes it, changes the mouse & it works for awhile then begins to lock again. This is such a pain.
-
DR Michael S I was able to flag the Brady Bunch video. I gotta wonder why anyone would take the time to put a video on YouTube for a group they don't even like, let alone make such an obnoxious comment.
-
Good morning, all!
Hiya, dear Elmo! Yes, sorry to have missed George and you and my other pals... mwah!
-
Nice photos, DR PennyO!!!!! Would you like some pâté, mother darling? ;)
Thanks, SingSong! Nice summer - one o' the nicest of my whole 60 years...

-
Such lovely photos of DR PENNYO!
Well, I have the vapours, sir! how you do make me blush!
-
DR PennyO, those snaps of you and the animals are wonderful...you have turned into Ellie Mae Clampett...or Snow White!
Make that Granny Clampett!!! And, yes - I AM Snow White, living in the woods here, with my 11 dwarves, all masked and incognito...
-
Not Granny Clampett!!!! Snow White, yes :)
-
I was doing theatre in the round - I was playing a nurse and I was wearing my nurses' uniform in the second act but in Act three I had moved to the main character's home and was now dresed in a red dress
We were performing for a group of senior citizens - one hard of hearing man shouted to his wife "Who is that one in the red dress? "
"it's the nurse from the last act"
"Can't be - the nurse didn't have such a big ass"
Hahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!!!!! I will certainly purloin this story, at some point. Too good.
-
DR PennyO! The people at Artie's keep asking for you. Manhattan osn't quite the same now that you've gone away from us.
So, Miss White, when did you add the 4 extra dwarfs to your retinue?
-
Penny, that photo of you and the bird is absolutely stunning!
Hi, Dude!! Every morning, that's a whole hour that disappears in the blink of an eye! Penny feeds the birds... When I'm an old, OLD gal, I wanna be propped up right there, on the deck, in the sun, with a big bag o' peanuts in my lap - and expire with a bird on my wrist...
-

An hour every morning on the deck-heaven. It is a shame you can't stay through the autumn days.

DR PennyO - I didn't realize you spoke "Raccoon" too. ;) -Beautiful picture.
Thank you, my luv. Yes, fluent Raccoon, and the all-but-incomprehensible dialect, Chipmunk.
-
Hiya, Gins!
Larry, the 4 extras came from feeding the original 7... I am now a free-range raccoon breeder...
-
Okay - off to cut back the spent daylillies and make one last stab at stabbing to death the salmonberry vines...
Yup - wish I could stay here forever... I just don't do Winter, any more...
-
Laters, skaters.
-
Penny, I don't want to do winter anymore either. It really isn't too bad here.
-
DR TCB did you see this article? MRSA (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_med_germy_beaches) was found on the beaches in Washington & along the West Coast Beaches.

I'm worried that we have not heard from DR Laura with a kitten update.
CONTINUED VIBES FOR THE LITTLE ONES!!!
-
BK - did I miss the announcement for the latest Adrienna Hofstetter book? Is it now available for sale?
Apparently you did - it's been for sale for about six weeks now. :) Here's the link:
http://kritzerland.com/historical.htm
-
What a long day already, but I'm now finished with everything, save for shipping one overseas package, which I'll have to do at the post office come Monday.
-
We got all the packages, including all the dealer orders shipped today, save for a couple who haven't paid their invoices yet - one of those came in after we'd shipped, and am waiting on a couple more.
-
I had no mail or packages today.
-
I did get the Blu-Ray of season one of Mad Men, so I may watch a couple of episodes tonight to see if it's my cuppa.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page seven.
-
The streets of Studio City are a bloody mess because they've got construction machinery blocking two lanes at Ventura and Coldwater Canyon. It shouldn't really be causing as much havoc as it is, but then again, the drivers of Studio City are amongst the stupidest anywhere. Moorpark is also a mess, because so many of said stupid drivers are going up there to avoid the problems at Coldwater and Ventura, which means they've caused just as many problems at Moorpark and Coldwater. I figured it out right away and just diverted myself to Riverside, which was just peachy.
-
I have been at camp all day. Sandra has been doing kitten duty. Everyone is still alive. I just took three of them into the bathroom while I showered let them get some steam to help their breathing. The other two are locked in a carrier with their inattentive mother so they can nurse on her.
-
The trouble with very tiny kittens is that they can get sick so easily. I am hoping they all live.
-
Vibes to my kitties!
-
Did you mention the shower on Facebook? I thought I read it, and then couldn't find any mention of it. I know a few of my Facebook friends have been complaining it has been a bit screwy.
I've dealt with bad respiratory infections & it can be very scary. I hope they are alright, for your sake as much as theirs.
-
Thanks, DR Jane!!!! Right now, it's winning. :(

Bummer DR DAW. So far I'm sticking with allergies. Keith's cousin is visiting next week & I don't want to be sick.

My dinner has stretched into almost 90 minutes thanks to a call from a windbag who won't shut the hell up about his own importance. Oy! I wll be glad when this Sept 18 event is over because I'm getting calls about "I could speak at the memorial service" and my attitude is, if you did, you could never honor the 5-minute time limit and we'd be into overtime for hours.
On a happier note, I just got this picture of me and Cassandra Kubinski, one of the leads in CLEAR BLUE TUESDAY, after the first performance. I hadn't seen Cassie in 11 years; she played the title character in the Schmidt-Jones musical MIRETTE at Goodspeed. I think she was around 12 or 13 then.
-
Cute pic, DR Elmore!
-
DR TCB if you married someone that looked like the photo, I have no sympathy for you. You knew what you were getting ;)
Hey, I was drunk!
-
LOL DR TCB.
Cute photo DR elmore.
-
Thank you, DRs Ginny and Jane! I'm happy that Cassie and i have become reacquainted. She had to learn to walk on a tightrope for MIRETTE and walk across a narrow parapet about 20 feet above the audience. She's very brave.

Yes she is very brave, very cute too.

Healing vibes to Callie and the kittens.
Callie thanks you. The vet gave me two options this morning, another enema or just trying her normal meds for the weekend and see if she's better. She's eating and drinking water and not getting sick, so we opted for the second option. She's in good spirits. I think she'll be ok
-
I hope Callie's meds kick in soon. I hate making decisions like that when the vet is closed the next day, even knowing it should be ok.
-
Please give my phone number to Cassie :)
-
I hope Callie's meds kick in soon. I hate making decisions like that when the vet is closed the next day, even knowing it should be ok.
I think we're making a little progress. Very little, but it's a start. If she was at the vet she'd be in a cage most of the weekend with no one around except to check in on her. She's better off at home.
-
For some reason I didn't watch The Closer this summer, but I did record all the episodes. So I'm going to do a marathon and start watching them now
-

Definitely better at home. I was thinking, quick enema and back home. I've did that with Bogie a couple of times. Of course you don't want to do an enema if it can be avoided.
-
A CLOSER marathon, you are in for a treat.
-
Good Evening!
Many Thanks to SETC for unexpectedly taking care of my dinner tonight. :)

At the football game Rob and Mary Linda are attending, UC is ahead by 53 points early in the third quarter. Richard hopes the third string players are in the game and I hope Rob and ML have the sense to come home.

The restaurant where I was just at - where SETC had their "Fall dinner" - had all their TVs turned to the college football games. I don't think I've ever heard so many different "reactions" going on at the same time. It seemed that each table was watching a different game, and rooting for different teams.

Please give my phone number to Cassie :)

I truly hope the missing Yale student is found, safe & unharmed.

DR Julie - It was good to "see" you back here on HHW earlier today, and it was great to see you on Thursday night. Congratulations to you and the whole "Clear Blue Tuesday" team!
-
I didn't get to watch THE VAMPIRE DIARIES yet to know if i like it or not.
I spent all night making muffins for my niece's birthday party tomorrow. I am tired. I have to leave for the party at 9am!
My sister wanted the little muffins for the kids. I'm not that crazy about them because they bake so fast that they do not get brown enough (for me) on top.

Back from the world's longest gig. I don't think I've ever had to play that long before (though of course I did take breaks). Sweet little store in Wilsonville's Old Town. The owner ended up not only paying quite well, but she bestowed on me a huge amount of merchandise, everything from some lovely clothes for Betsy to games for the kids to some really cool silk ties for me.
-
Finishing the last of the Nikkatsu noirs, then I may take a drive - or, I may not.
-
Had such a leisurely evening with my viewing choices. I did a complete revisit on favorite film and TV episodes.
I began with another NCIS episode that featured Charles Durning as a Medal of Honor winner who was turning himself in for commiting murder back on Iwo Jima. A really wonderful episode as they piece together his story to see if they can keep him from having his medal stripped. Durning gives a really touching performance.
-
Nice to see you 'round here, DR Julie!!!! :D
Thanks, DR DAW !!

DR Jennifer, I hope DN Megan has a wonderful birthday party. You have fun too.
-
Then I took off the HD-DVD shelf FORBIDDEN PLANET and enjoyed watching it all over again. It's a very solid high definition picture with EastmanColor looking about as good as it can look.
-
Glad to see you back, Julie!
-
DR Julie, it is so wonderful to see you here again!!!
Thanks!! :-)
-
And then I took off the shelf Season 5 of J.A.G. which I reviewed quite a long time ago. I picked an episode at random, and it turned out to be one where a female sailor decided in the middle of her watch that the Navy wasn't for her and walked off her post and off the ship.
-
I remembered one particular J.A.G. episode from that season and spent the rest of my time trying to find it in the box set. Finally found it on disc 6 which I'll likely watch tomorrow when I have more time.
-
I also want to watch THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (1951 version) on Blu-ray tomorrow and will likely get another movie, another CASTLE episode, and another NCIS episode squeezed in tomorrow before the season finale of TRUE BLOOD.

I was sooooo excited - and relieved - when I found out that my hotel switched out Showtime for HBO. -Or I was going to call you up and see if I could watch "True Blood" at your place tomorrow night. ;)
-
One of my favorite contemporary artists is Karen Horn. Here is one of her still lifes, painted - believe it or not - entirely in watercolor:

That's beautiful! At first, I thought it was a photograph.
-
Good morning all of you beautiful HHW DRs!
And thank you very much also to DRs DAW, Jane, Ginny, Cilla, George and everyone who posted such supportive and lovely comments to me on facebook. You are all great.
And to Michael, too - thank you Michael!

I'm sure you'd be more comfortable in your luxurious hotel room than in my cramped den listening to me moan about my hand cramps. :)
-
And with that, I think I need to head downstairs and get ready for bed. I have a full day of FREEDOM from work planned for tomorrow! (Well, actually, I did need to wash clothes, clean my bedroom and the guest bath, so not quite total freedom!)
Good night!
-
DR Julie - it is wonderul to see you back again! Will your movie be shown on Long Island or on DVD?
Thanks, DR Vixmom! We will be spending this upcoming week reviewing the informal feedback we've gotten, and determining our next steps. We hope for a Distribution deal, or will do it ourselves step by step, if necessary. We also have plans for a DVD release, but we don't want to do anything widespread with a DVD until see see what distribution path we can take for the big screen. I'll let you know how our progress goes!
-
Elmore- I just got our tickets for Finians' Rainbow - the Saturday matinee- October 24 at 2 PM
John's Pizza after the show or should we try Angus McIndoes?
Cool!!!
Richard and I have just begun talking about a trip Oct. 22-27 to see Finian's Rainbow and Ragtime. I hadn't even contacted DR Elmore yet.
OH!!! It would be so wonderful if we could all go together!!
-
I have spent most of the day sleeping because I have developed a quick-onset nasty cold on top of my seasonal allergies, and to be vertical is to be miserable. :P
Feel better soon vibes to DR DAW.
-
The trouble with very tiny kittens is that they can get sick so easily. I am hoping they all live.
I hope they all recover. They are in good hands and lucky to have you looking after them.
-
I guess I should really say that my favorite artist would have to be Michelangelo. The thing I am looking forward to most about my trip in November (other than being away from my F---ing office) is seeing The Sistine Chapel, The Pietà, and the stautue of David. The thought of actually seeing these works of art in person, is totally beyond my wildest dreams.
I have been much too E & T - how could I not know that you were going to ROME!! I dream of being able to do that someday - I hope it is an absolutely wonderful trip.
I saw the Peita on exhibit at the 1964/65 New York World's Fair - I was only 7 years old but I remember it like it was yesterday - even to a little girl it was a breathtaking and heartbreaking work of art
-
My dinner has stretched into almost 90 minutes thanks to a call from a windbag who won't shut the hell up about his own importance.
Great photo, Larry. Cassie told me she was very happy to see you Thursday night. She's very fond of you.
On a lighter note, sorry about the windbag.
-
Healing vibes to Callie and the kittens.
Callie thanks you. The vet gave me two options this morning, another enema or just trying her normal meds for the weekend and see if she's better. She's eating and drinking water and not getting sick, so we opted for the second option. She's in good spirits. I think she'll be ok
That's great news, DR Cillaliz.
-
BK - did I miss the announcement for the latest Adrienna Hofstetter book? Is it now available for sale?
Apparently you did - it's been for sale for about six weeks now. :) Here's the link:
http://kritzerland.com/historical.htm
I have now corrected this oversight - althought the timing explains everyting - 6 weeks ago I was workling 14 hour days
-
DR Julie - It was good to "see" you back here on HHW earlier today, and it was great to see you on Thursday night. Congratulations to you and the whole "Clear Blue Tuesday" team!
Thanks, and thanks again for being there, Jose. It really did mean a lot to me that you were there.
-
Thank you, DRs Ginny and Jane! I'm happy that Cassie and i have become reacquainted. She had to learn to walk on a tightrope for MIRETTE and walk across a narrow parapet about 20 feet above the audience. She's very brave.
20 feet? How tall is that guy in the photo?
LOL!!!
-
G'night!
-
I can't help but think that if I had bothered to go grocery shopping yesterday when I should have, I would have something at home to make for breakfast today.
;D That would have helped.
It is nice to see you posting again. :)
Thanks, DR Jane!
-
DR Julie, how nice to see you back posting again. I can't wait to see your film.
Thanks, DR TCB!!
-
Glad to see you back, Julie!
Thanks Laura!!

Well tomorrow is a big day - first day of Sunday School and "Rally Day" the church picnic - if it EVER stops raining!!!
So it's beddybye time for this girl - nighty night all!!

We're about 99% sure that we'll be there Oct. 22-27. We don't have all the details worked out, but they should be within the week.

I recorded the rebroadcast of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES last night and watched about 10 minutes of it before deleting it. It's just not going to be for me. I hope others enjoy it.
I have more patience than you do - I lasted over 30 minutes before hitting ERASE.

However...

Your link is a red block to me too nevermind, your link is working now

DR Julie - In Picasa you need to select the IMG links. Right now, you're linking to the "account link" - which is encrypted.
-
I think.
-
Your link is a red block to me too
Hmm... I tried posting the second one, but got the red block - and then deleted the post. However, I think the first one still works.

Favorite 20th century artist would be Albert Callis who did some of the most fantastic movie posters ever!
(http://posteropolis.com/store/images/00operationdamesos.jpg)
His name is Kallis, with a "K", just like the Producer's.
His later claim to fame was co-founding IHOP

Yep, that was truly a strange and dramatic turn of events just a little while ago. It was a good match up until then, and then it just got weird. And a little stupid too.

I have to say - even though your retort doesn't quite make sense, it's still somehow offensive and crass.

But then again...
Nevermind.

I don't think I have one particular artist who I think is my favorite.
How about Tom-of-Finland?

Very strange, indeed, DR FJL. A terrible way to loose . . . and win.
Always followed by a footnote.

Oooooohhh! That's right - I've been up since 7:30 this morning...

Back from a trek to Amoeba - I took in a huge box o' DVDs and got quite a lot of credit, so I got some new stuff and still have a lot left over.

DR Michael S I was able to flag the Brady Bunch video. I gotta wonder why anyone would take the time to put a video on YouTube for a group they don't even like, let alone make such an obnoxious comment.
Thank you. It really upset me so.

Now I will try to go back to sleep

Finished with my viewing and shall now write the notes.
