Well, you've read the notes, the notes twinkled, and now it is time for you to post until the starry cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SPIRITUEL!
-
And yes, that is spelled correctly.
-
Happy Birthday, Noel!
-
Happy Birhtday, Nole.
-
Off to an early dentist appointment. I originally made this appointment before I realized today was a holiday. I could have slept in a bit. :(
-
Monday morning greetings! We're easing into this morning and trying to stay out of the way of Savannah's MLK parade. After the crowds subside, we're going to take a city tour.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Noel!
Here is how Richard and I celebrated your birthday, 30 years ago today:
-
Great photo, Ginny! Happy Anniversary!
-
Thanks, DR Laura!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I slept until about 8:15. Hooray for me.
-
Happy Anniversary Ginny and Richard!!! Love the photo.
-
Happy Day to Noel
-
It's cold here, about 19 degrees.
-
We had nice visit from two friends yesterday. We had some pumpkin spice cake and strawberries and coffee and tea.
-
A friend is coming over today as well.
That's the news from Chelsea.
-
Thanks, DR Ben - enjoy your day off!
-
Happy Birthday DR NO-WELL.
-
Happy Anniversary to Ginny & Fr. Richard!
-
DR TCB was correct - when Chris Colfer won for GLEE, that was the end of the evening for me. I put on the DVD of WHERE EAGLES DARE and watched a real actor do his stuff.....MR CLINT EASTWOOD.
-
Of all the ladies I saw on the red carpet, I think I liked Michelle Williams the best.
(http://backseatcuddler.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/wenn3170204.jpg)
-
Except of course she really needed two BIG daisies on her chest, one on each.....abutment.
-
I think I have my answer for the TOD......but I am going shopping, so I will think about it and post upon my reappearance.
-
Sometimes I forget I am reading HHW in the Safari browser and when I click to refresh, I click minimize instead. APPLE is backwards.
-
I saw the title of the notes and now I am thinking about LES MIZ.
-
Here I am with my girlfriend - yes you read that right - back in 1984 when we were doing a production of THE PAJAMA GAME....Ann is a great friend! ;D I was directing/choreographing and she was musical director. ;D
-
DR GINNY's glasses reminded me of this pic.
My glasses are bigger than my FACE! ;D
-
Ann's mother is Martha Hyer's sister and her brother Peter produced a lot of the Chimpmunks CD's during their revival.....not sure if he worked on the movies.
-
Thank you, DR JRand! The straps on that daisy dress looked like the trim on my wedding veil.
-
Wireless is pretty wonky here this morning.
Yes, DR JRand, those big glasses were cool in the early '80s, but mine were HEAVY!
-
! ! ! ! ! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR NOEL ! ! ! ! !
-
! ! ! ! ! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO DR GINNY AND HER DH RICHARD ! ! ! ! !
-
Of all the ladies I saw on the red carpet, I think I liked Michelle Williams the best.

I recall that we once bought a container of Chiffon butter with a similar pattern.
-
Thanks, DR Dan (the Man)!
-
John G. I don't know if the tickets for Follies have officially gone on sale but we have a friend who is a donor to the KC and he gets first crack at tickets before they go on sale to the public so it's all in his hands now.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's supposed to snow and sleet here in NYC later tonight.
*I blame DR Cillaliz for the sleet. ;)
-
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO DR GINNY AND HER DH RICHARD!!!!!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR NOEL!!!!!
-
I stopped watching the Golden Globes forty-five minutes in. I couldn't take any more of the host.
-
Hi all!
Congrats to DR Ginny and DH Richard!
Happy Birthday, DR Noel!
-
In other news...
I need to be down in Chelsea in about an hour, so that means I need to spend the next 15-20 minutes making myself presentable.
Laters...
-
Thank you, DRs Jose and Danise!
-
I still don't know how to post a photo so here is the link to the dress that I liked the best when I looked at the news this morning.

Has anyone else here been watching DOWNTON ABBEY on Masterpiece Whatever-They're-Calling-It? I think it's absolutely wonderful! If you liked UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS, you would most likely want to take this series in, as well. The second episode ran last night. I don't know if it's on Hulu or On Demand or not. I do know that the entire series was released last week on DVD...
-
I was going to go over to Largo today to the SPCA to discuss arrangements for Sheena and Toby, should something ever happen to me but there is such a bad storm right now that I had to cancel my appointment.
I don't like to drive over the bridges that cross the bay when it's dry but a rain slicked road is to scary for me. Not to mention I really don't know my way around Largo. I don't want to cause an accident by going to slow or not knowing the turn lanes.
-
TOD:
I was actually thinking about this the other day. I would love to see a movie (or better yet, a TV miniseries) made from Mark Helprin's WINTER'S TALE. I remember at the time I read it, I thought that a young Peter O'Toole would have been ideal for the lead character.

That was my favorite, too, DR Danise.
-
re: Natalie Portman's dress last night.
It was okay but I really didn't like it that much. But the funny thing is that I think the rose was the best part! (DR Cilla said the dress would be better without it).
-
My least favorite get-up from last night's red carpet was Tilda Swinton's, which made her look like she was wrapped in a sheet of butcher's paper.
-
I think that Michelle Williams' dress (pictured above) looks okay in the picture. But I did not care for it on the Red Carpet. Looked like curtains.
-
DR Danise, that was one of my favorite dresses too (Olivia Wilde).
-
I have more Turner news.
While doing my weekly search, I came across a newspaper listing that his business property is being sold due to forclosure. I fired an email off the law firm asking about my rights. I have to wait until the sale to see if there is any money left over from the sale and then I can make a claim.
The sale is in Febuary.
-
DR Danise, that was one of my favorite dresses too (Olivia Wilde).
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy, happy, Noel.
-
Happy anniversary, Ginny and Richard.
-
I hate to say it but I didn't know who half of the people on the red carpet were or what they were famous for.
-

I think I have it on the DVR but I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet.

Page Three Dance!

By the way, JRand and Ginny, the last two times I was in Austin, I noticed that the frames for glasses on many of the men had gotten larger. Don't know if the swing is back in that direction or not.
-
TOD: I would love to see a movie or mini-series made of J.B. Priestley's "The Good Companions." I'd like Andrew Davies to write the screenplay, and it could use either period songs or pieces from the great Johnny Mercer-Andre Previn score (or both). I would limit the cast to Brits, so I don't really have an idea as to whom should be in what role. It would be hard, in my mind, to beat the impression that Judi Dench and John Mills made in the cast album from back in the mid-1970s.
It's a great book about a theatrical troupe roaming the British countryside just as movies are beginning to become popular. Great characters that have stayed with me for decades since I first read the book. I haven't read it in at least 10 years. It may be just the ticket in between semesters.
-
Good morning, all! I slept late, very late for me. I was having interesting dreams - a possible tour of The Brain From Planet X for five weeks in Spain, casting a cabaret act, an alien invasion, a trip to England - and I can't say I was eager to hop out of bed and begin my 2010 income taxes. So, I'm out of bed now and I have no choice but to begin them.
I find the older I get and the less chances I have of getting an award - my least favortie orchestrator has a Tony Award and two of my favorites have lost, so I know the standards have fallen - the less I care about them, so I passed up the Golden Globes for THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA.
For the really important news of the day:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy 30th Anniversary to DR Ginny & Richard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Wishes to E&T DR Noel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And for today's TOD:
Thomas Keneally's wonderful historical novel THE PLAYMAKER, about the Australian penal colonies of the late 18th Century and the first theatrical production performed by the prisoners. At one point, Merchant-Ivory owned the film rights, but that was 2o years ago. I think they would have done a great adaptation. In the late 1980s, a British stage adaptation, titled OUR COUNTRY'S GOOD, by Timberlake Wertenbaker made the rounds of regional theatres and came to Broadway. I thought it was not particularly good, but it was a success for either the Royal Shakespeare Co. or the National Theatre, as I recall.

I enjoyed that novel quite a lot. It would make a good movie.

Vibes that DR Elmore's taxes go smoothly (and that my typing skill improve; I originally typed bives).
-
More TOD:
I'm pretty sure that it is in the works, so I am hoping that Neil Gaiman's THE GRAVEYARD BOOK does make it to the big screen soon. I would rather that it was a live action film than an animated CGI like CORALINE. I also hope that anyone BUT Tim Burton helms the project.
-
TOD:
MANY years ago, I read a book by Al Morgan called TO SIT ON A HORSE.
Certainly inspired by Ed Wynn, it's the story of an old vaudeville comedian who never had been recorded on film. He's now in failing health, but before he dies he wants to do something that is recorded, so that it will be there for posterity. The opportunity comes with a TV commercial, but his family tries to stop him from doing it, fearing it will kill him.
I was so moved by this novel when I read it that I wrote to Morgan, asking if I could adapt it. He wrote back, saying that this was his very special story and that, if it was ever done on film, he would do it.
The book is now long out-of-print.
:(
-
DR GINNY's glasses reminded me of this pic.
My glasses are bigger than my FACE! ;D
My first thought was "If BK really wants to capture the fashion of the 80s...big glasses"
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's supposed to snow and sleet here in NYC later tonight.
*I blame DR Cillaliz for the sleet. ;)

We're supposed to have more sleet today. I'm still thinking of trying to get out and see The King's Speech this afternoon

What an interesting story DR DRUXY!!!
Never heard of that book. Does the book include the earlier career of the character, or just reference it?

DR CILLA LIZ I meant to write yesterday, can't you get a cord that has the new connection on one end and the old connection on the other......I saw them at one time.....but I think it was back in the 20th century.
-
When When WHEN did it become a necessity for a HOST to do a monolog at an awards show? It's been going on for quite awhile now and for me it is a time-consuming and (mostly) unfunny bore....if in three hours someone says one thing funny (usually I guess written by Bruce Vilanch) we hear how brilliant said someone is.
Just introduce the show and get the h3[[ out of the way!
Like DR DtM - I thought Ricky Gervais was terrible, disrespectful, and unfunny in the extreme.
-
Curtain or butter dish or whatever - I still like Michelle's dress - didn't detract from her, wasn't over the top, and fit really well.
All she needed was a leopard dickey on top.
-

Danise, you are doing everything right to get your money. I'm impressed. Stick to it and eventually you'll get it.

Happiest of birthdays to DR Noel!
Here is how Richard and I celebrated your birthday, 30 years ago today:
Ginny, are you sure you didn't marry Richard Attenborough? ;D
Congrats!
-
Happy Anniversary DR GINNY and HA HA HA RICHARD
-
BK, I found the Golden Globes tedious precisely because I do not know who any of the younger stars are...and they comprise most of them. It doesn't help that I watch no dramatic or comedy shows on TV these days. I was also disappointed that Ricky Gervais never got enough to time to really rip and slaughter the sacred cows and speak aloud what everyone is thinking or already knows. It was also disappointing that THE KING'S SPEECH...which should win every award it's up for...only won a much-deserved best actor award for Colin Firth.
-
DR CILLA LIZ I meant to write yesterday, can't you get a cord that has the new connection on one end and the old connection on the other......I saw them at one time.....but I think it was back in the 20th century.
I'm not sure, I'm trying to investigate all that. It's the big wide LPT or whatever you call it. It was the standard forever, now all the computers just have USB ports for printers
-
Happy Birthday DR NOEL
-
Happy happy anniversary to DR Ginny and DH Richard!!!
-
Well I don't know if it would be at the absolute top of my list, but for years I thought the 1978 book THE CASE OF THE PHILOSOPHER'S RING would make a faboo film, and in fact elements of it ended up in the recent Guy Ritchie SHERLOCK HOLMES. The book is about Holmes and Watson trying to track down some occult shenaningans which turn out to be the result of black magic(k) by Aleister Crowley. I thought that Rod Steiger would make a smashing Crowley, but that's about as far as I thought about it, though the book had a ton of other real life people in it, including Bertrand Russell.
-
An Elaine Stritch HE HAD REFINEMENT dance (well, not really a dance, but it's not a page-turn either)

-
Did I miss discussion of this (proposed) "law" that kids can't work after 10 pm, so shows like ANNIE or BILLY ELLIOT would have to start early or something like that?
-
I have evidently upset several minimally literate and/or articulate folk with my perhaps scathing review of the last (we can only hope) Saw film. Oy.
Betsy and I are off to the Hamilton house today to power wash decks, touch up paint, install a carbon monoxide detector and other really, really fun stuff that proves we are landlords. Double oy.
-
Birthday wishes to Noel
-
What an interesting story DR DRUXY!!!
Never heard of that book. Does the book include the earlier career of the character, or just reference it?
As I recall, it just referenced the earlier years.
It's been a long time (30-40 years) since I read it, but it's always stuck with me.
In fact, right after I posted, I went to Amazon and found a used copy that I then ordered.
Now, I'm wondering if that could be a mistake.
The memory of this book could be a far cry from the reality.
:-\
-
Happy Birthday, Noel!

The best thing about three Allison Hayes photos on EBAY selling for $125+. $200+, and $300+ is that new photos of her will start showing up!
-
DR FJL - Indiana Child Labor Laws do not permit children under 16 to work past 10 p.m. on a night before school attendance. I am not sure how that would apply to theaters.....maybe Equity has some concession - and maybe NY laws are different.
-
I'm still thinking about the TOD. Many of the books I can think of have already been turned into movies. Didn't always like them, but they have been made into movies.
-
DR CILLA LIZ check www.cablestogo.com - they seem to offer a serial to USB cable you might be able to use.

I haven't been sitting here like so much fish rudely ignoring all the lovely anniversary wishes. The wireless was so wonky when we were ready to go across the square for brunch that I just put the computer to sleep. So, thank you to DRs:

I'm up, and in a moment I shall go take music over to Staples for Xeroxing.

We slept too late to attend the complimentary breakfast here at the hotel (not a big loss...), so we went across Ellis Square to Goose Feathers (http://www.goosefeatherscafe.com). Richard had spinach & feta quiche and I had their famous oatmeal with apples and walnuts.

Your memory hasn't failed you, Druxy, go to the ABE (Advance Book Exchange) and their book search. 15 copies from the paperback to hardcover first. Published in 1964.

Happy Anniversay DR Ginny and Richard
Happy Birthday to e&t DR Noel
Speaking if the TOD, going to take the DP to see "Harry Potter..." today. I there is one more theatre in the area that is sill showing it.

DR Danise, that was one of my favorite dresses too (Olivia Wilde).
I can't open Danise's link. As mentioned yesterday I think Olivia Wilde's dress was terrific.

I agree.... The dress would have been far prettier without the flower.
However I have to agree with Danise, I also liked Olivia Wilde's dress.
I like how teh glitters and sequins resembled tumbling stars... Very pretty

The food link referring to Chislic had me looking up the item wikipedia. My suspicisons were correct and I recgonized the description as Schaschlik
I have made it before and it is a German and German-Russian delicacy especially the Black Sea Germans from Russia.
They are also featured in the PBS program Schmeckfest detailing the food traditions of the Germans from Russia. I have had it with lamb, pork and veal.

Also Schaschlik is popular in the southwestern part of ND that has a mix of Ukrainian and Germans from Russia

I've cleaned off my desk, done the final proofs for Jerome Morross' BALLET BALLADS, and begun my taxes. While I've worked, I've been listening to the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts of DIE FLEDERMAUS, book by Garson Kanin and lyrics by Howard Dietz. I've got the original 1951 broadcast as well as those of 1954, 1958, and 1963. The 1951 has some sound problems, but 1954, 1958, and 1963 are all excellent to fair sound. I think the 1958 performance is the most consistent sound. The 1963 cast includes Jeanettwe Scovotti, who is the star of the 1963 Lehman Engel-Reader's Digest "Treasury of Great Operettas." She had a huge opera career, but she began in the chorus of the original Broadway production of LI'L ABNER.
I now have to print out my 2010 income and my work sheets. I think the first receipts I will tackle are the subway and taxi receipts.

We have returned from our trolley tour of Savannah, which we took one and a half times. Did the whole loop and then hopped on another trolley and went as far as the cathedral and walked home from there. We're now relaxing and freshening up before going to dinner at Elizabeth on 37th (http://www.elizabethon37th.net). On our walk back from the cathedral, I bought a fun new jacket to wear.
Thank you to DRs Jane, DakotaCelt, MBarnum, ArnoldMBrockman, td, and George for the anniversary wishes I found when I signed in!

We have returned from our trolley tour of Savannah, which we took one and a half times. Did the whole loop and then hopped on another trolley and went as far as the cathedral and walked home from there. On our walk back from the cathedral, I bought a fun new jacket to wear.
:D

I'm back from New York, New York.
I was glad I decided to see Mary Poppins--I enjoyed it much more than the last time I saw it. It certainly helped having a seat in the second row of the mezzanine.

Fast trip KevinH. I'm glad you had a good time.

Have a good time!

Wrote about six pages, then went to lunch meeting. I'll say more when everything is finalized, but it looks like something fun will come out of it.
-
Shall now try to write through to the end of the chapter, two or three more pages.
-
Well, it's time for me to (finally) take a shower and get out of the house...for no other reason than because, so I will.
Have a good rest of the day, all!

Happy Anniversary to DR Ginny and Richard!
-
I actually prefer when the host does a monologue. And I like to have the host on throughout the night.
I thought that Ricky Gervais was okay. Funny some of the time. But I think he crossed the line a few times.
-
I went to Sephora late this afternoon. I always try on make-up. But this time I tried on some hairspray (big mistake). There must have been a frangrance in it that disagreed with me (I am allergic to perfume). Cause my head started pounding immediately.
I wanted to use the hairspray cause i had washed my hair after swimming early this morning. And I didn't have a chance to style it Unfortunately when I came home I had to wash the hairspray off and rewash my hair. :(
-
I am going to watch Fashion Police tonight on E! as I am curious to see which dresses Joan Rivers liked best.

For DR Jane and any other USA network fans. One of my favorite shows, WHITE COLLAR is starting again tomorrow (January 18th). An ROYAL PAINS (another one of my favorites) starts Jan 20th.

Thank you. I will check if they are set to record.

Is anyone watching THE DEFENDERS? The new show with Jim Belushi & Jerry O'Connell. It is changing stations in February. We like it so I will have to make sure to re-program to record.

Changing stations? Do you mean changing days to fridays? My mom loves this show and just asked me to check out when it will be on again (apparently feb 4th is what i read).
-
Did another page and finished the chapter. Will now go pick up Xeroxed music, then start burning CDRs.
-
Almost every visit my hairdresser asks if I want hairspray. I always say no. There was a time I wouldn't permit any product aside from shampoo & conditioner on my hair. Now there are lots of styling products that don't bother my allergies & make my hair feel good, not sticky.
Jennifer thanks for the reminder not to use hair spray. :)

I thought it was changing to a different station on Friday's. Since we pre-record everything I tend to forget when the shows are on. I went & asked Keith who said he only heard it was changing days. That makes it easier- sorry for that though I know have the correct info.
-
Oh and thanks for the date in February.
-
Today Keith removed Firefox from my computer and put on Google Chrome and.....IT WORKS!!! :)
-
I could use some vibes. I got a face-to-face interview set for Thursday afternoon. Not only does the job pay well
but it's only 30 hours a week, so I have more time for class work.

Why get rid of Firefox?
-
I kept thinking he was saying Google Crone ;D My brain refused to accept it would be named Crone & finally, after repeatedly asking the name & saying crone back to him, began to spell C R at which point he went "no Ch". When I said then "not C R O N E" he laughed at the funny name. My sentiments exactly. :)
-
Why get rid of Firefox?
Because most the time I couldn't open anything. I couldn't read articles or see email or comment on FB. For some odd reason I was able to post here yesterday. Today, nothing. I couldn't get past page six from last night.
-
Good luck, John G.! I hope this job works out for you!

MEGA JOB VIBES FOR DR JOHN G!!!
-
My apologies to Jack. I was kidnapped this morning by friends who took me out for the day. it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed myself; but it kept me from watching NEVER TOO LATE. I am now going to have to postpone it till this coming weekend.
-
I'm glad you were kidnapped & had a fun day. :)
-
DR CILLA LIZ check www.cablestogo.com - they seem to offer a serial to USB cable you might be able to use.
It's not a serial it's the big long printer cable to LPT port cable
-
But it does look like they have the one I need....thanks!
-
Music wasn't ready, so I have to go back at seven. But I did burn all the CDRs and I'll start the new chapter now.

I have long thought that Lillian Jackson Braun's THE CAT WHO...series of mystery books would make a great TV series or series of TV movies, with Tom Selleck in the role of Jim Qwilleran. He is now just at that right age.

I've tallied up my year's income, life, apartment, and health insurance payments, the rent, and all utility payments, and I think I will stop. Tomorrow morning, before I head down to Toyland I'll do the zillion taxi receipts and the MTA payments.
And that's how it went today.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOMETIME DR, NOEL!
-
I remembered my camera today.
-
John G. I don't know if the tickets for Follies have officially gone on sale but we have a friend who is a donor to the KC and he gets first crack at tickets before they go on sale to the public so it's all in his hands now.
Oh, Kennedy Center. i thought you meant Kentucky Fried Chicken. I always look for the food answer first.
-
Interesting trees, Jane.

Evening all!
I had to go out this afternoon and brave the storm because of a doctor appointment. I hate that you have to spend a forty dollar co pay, wait in the waiting room for well over an hour and a half after your appointment time (but Lord help you if YOUR late five minutes for the appointment) and then when you FINELY make it in to see the doctors, it's a simple, "How do you feel?", "See you in six months!", "NEXT!".
Why does it take so long to get in to see the doctor if that's all he does? I bet I was in his presence all of 10 minutes, if that long.
I have to go to these appointments or I don't get supplies for my CPAP machine.
Grrrrrr.
-
I was planning to go to the movie today and then it occurred to me that my house was a total mess and I wasn't going to have time to do everything until next weekend, so I dove in and started cleaning. The main floor is now respectable. I went through all those little piles of things that I set aside to go through later, vacuumed, did a quick damp mop of the mud room and the kitchen, did all the laundry, and cleaned the kitchen. Ah....much better. I need to do the upstairs next, but not today.

What arrangements are you planning to make?
-
Hi Danise. I don't think you were logging in at the time, but we had a Kitten Danise in the last bunch of foster kittens in the fall.
-
My least favorite get-up from last night's red carpet was Tilda Swinton's, which made her look like she was wrapped in a sheet of butcher's paper.
I am not sure I have ever seen Tilda Swinton in an atractive outfit.

Danise, you are doing everything right to get your money. I'm impressed. Stick to it and eventually you'll get it.
Keep on fighting Danise...... I send vibes of stength
Thank you all for the good wishes. It's just amazes me when things just pop up like that. I do the same search every week and poof! There's something new.
I also wanted you to see that the 2nd case at the FDBPR has been closed. There's no restitution so I'm thinking it's the permit case from the county. Notice, however, that he still has one more outstanding case.

I want to leave them something in my will or life insurance to make sure they will not be put down and find a good home. I was going to meet to find out exactly what I need to do.

I have one against his company, him and his wife personally. This case was in the works before my case so my lien doesn't really do anything for me except put my name in for any surplus money from the sale.

I'm to the point where I'm scared to fall asleep with out it. I always dream I'm drowning--which is a classic sign (or so I'm told) that your not breathing.
And you are right about the supplies. Those nose "pillows" only last a few weeks when they break down. I don't have a full face mask because it doesn't do me any good. I have to have the air going directly up my nose. Gross sounding I know but that's the way it is.
-
Good luck with the interview John.
-
And because of the CPaP machine and supplies, I made the hard decision that maybe I'd better try to stay where I'm at, job wise. I can't take the chance of losing the medical insurance.
-
DR CILLA LIZ I meant to write yesterday, can't you get a cord that has the new connection on one end and the old connection on the other......I saw them at one time.....but I think it was back in the 20th century.
I'm not sure, I'm trying to investigate all that. It's the big wide LPT or whatever you call it. It was the standard forever, now all the computers just have USB ports for printers
I have the same problem with my printer, Cilla. I have the large LPT on one end, but not one on my comptuer. You can buy these, but I found out that I could buy a new printer for far less than I would pay for this hummer.
-
Danise, I am also glad that you are still fighting.
Thank you DR Laura.
Something is bound to break sometime. I'm just hoping for sooner not later. :)

I'm going to talk to Edith. What I'm considering is getting her a good laser printer and a new computer and just using the ancient Sharp machine as a copier and fax machine. We've been having problems with the way it prints envelopes lately, so a new printer may be the best way to go. I just didn't want to HAVE to take that option until I looked into all the possibilites. That's why I returned the computer.
-
She was very sweet and friendly. I'm sure she did.
I hope so. Thank you so much for showing her to me. I wish I could have taken her but I don't think Sheena or Toby are cat friendly.

Well, I hate to say it but I have to go. I have to shower and get my clothes set out for work tomorrow.
Have a wonderful evening all!

We have a form of pasties here in ND called Fleishkeichla
I will pass on Montana's delicacy.. Rocky Mountain Oysters (also called Prairie oysters) do not sound appetizing in the least.
Thank you for clarifying that for me, Dakota. I thought that was what Montana was offering.

The Times has a fascinating analysis of Golden Globes fashion
http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/17/fashion-has-a-moment-at-the-golden-globes/?ref=fashion
The last paragraph deals with Helena Bonham Carter to some extent.
"Helena Bonham Carter’s print-and-tulle dress was not so interesting in itself — a classic bit of Vivienne Westwood — but Ms. Carter, English and eccentric, seemed to understand its effect on her. Julianna Margulies picked a Saint Laurent gown, with a small black bodice and a draped pink skirt. Ms. Margulies rarely gets it wrong, and maybe the archive design looked better in person, but some greater pizzazz was needed to carry it off."

VIBES TO JOSHIE~~~~~~~~~~~
How does he seem to be feeling?
-
He is feeling better. It was obvious he was in pain after the dental work. He is happy to sit on my lap and purr. And he is in favor of the canned food, which until now has been a luxury.
-
Glad he's feeling better. Spoiling him with canned food sounds like a wonderful plan
-
TCB, I really need to do something like you did to provide for my cats. Don't know who I'd trust to find them a good home and keep them together
-
It's the only way to get the antibiotic in him. And soon it will be too painful to eat anything except canned.
-
Cillaliz, you have family who can do that.
-
Cillaliz, you have family who can do that.
Like I said.....
My family are all animal lovers, but everyone but my mom thinks cats need to go outside. My brother even let my mother's cat out when she specifically asked them not to and she got lost, was outside over night and was found in a woodpile the next day. So...
-
It's the only way to get the antibiotic in him. And soon it will be too painful to eat anything except canned.

TCB, I really need to do something like you did to provide for my cats. Don't know who I'd trust to find them a good home and keep them together
What about your cat sitter?
-
I guess I'll just stick around and take care of them myself
Good plan :)
Of course as a lawyer you know the importance of putting your wishes in writing. ;)
We know Craig will take care of Sherlock.
-
Thank you, Jane.

DR TD, or any DR,
I'm looking for feedback on several books.
WOLF HALL
ANGLE OF REPOSE
LABYRINTH
My friend chose "Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet" for our March book group & just found out it won't be available in paperback until March. She needs a new book ASAP.
-
Congratulations to Ginny & Richard on your 30th Anniversary!!
-
I very much enjoyed Wolf Hall - but it took a couple of chapters fpr me to get used to the author's writing style - once it started to make sense to me I went back and started again - I do recommend it

Didn't finish "Wolf Hall." Didn't care enough for the characters, although I liked the tarnishing of Sir Thomas More after the whitewash/hagiography of "A Man for All Seasons." (Being a Lutheran makes me say that.)
I loved "Angle of Repose." The writing was extraordinary. Multi-generational family epic. Rich and rewarding.
Haven't read "Labyrinth."
-
Much appreciated John.
-
Oy, the powerwashing took a LOOOOOONG time, but I think we're done. Betsy's going back Wednesday to waterseal with our yard guys, who are helping. I need to work, he, he, he. :)
Vibes to John and anyone else who needs them. ;)

Vis a vis today's notes and the title, did anyone see the great Cloris Leachman on one of those Comedy Central roasts? One of her funnier lines went something like, "Would someone please hit me in the head with a f***ing hammer so that I could see some stars?" ;D

I once interviewed her. She has a mouth that could make a entire fleet blush. I doubt I've ever laughed that hard in my life. And I couldn't print too terribly much of it.

Watching "Top Hat," and "Cheek to Cheek" just played. What magnificence. I may have seen this movie 20 times and that scene still knocks me for a loop.

Thank you. Do you recommend it over The Ha-Ha?
They are very differnt types of books - actually I think the Ha Ha might make for a more interesting discussion

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOEL....wherever you are!
-
Good Evening!
Well...
I was asked to come in today to play a session from 10:30-12:30, and then from 1:00-3:00.
"Oh, could you cover a dance session from 4:00-5:00?"
Sure.
"Oh, and there a wrap-up party tonight too starting at 7:30."
Sure.
So....
Three glasses of champagne and a vodka-cranberry later...
:)

~~~~~VIBES TO DEAR CAT JOSHIE~~~~~
-
So...
It looks like tomorrow will be my first "normal" day of 2011. -Meaning I can sleep passed 9:00am. ;)
-
And speaking of sleep...
Goodnight.
-
Thanks, Jose.
-
I could have used those three glasses of Champagne tonight.
Night, all.
-
Couldn't we all, John G.
-
I think a mimosa sounds good
-
But sleep sounds better. Night everyone
-
Back from a good dinner meeting and a superb dinner of halibut, mashed potatoes and vegetables, all very small portion. And a great chocolate bread pudding for dessert.
-
Perhaps I'll write another page before doing the notes.
-
A lull.
;)
-
I just realized that I was still logged in.
-
It's almost Page 11.
-
Here we go...
-
...only one more...
-
...and now, since we're so close...
-
PAGE 11 DANCE!!
-
My work here is done and I must go to sleep. I can't wait any longer.
Good night.
