And the word of the day is: PROCUMBENT!
Fred, no I've always been Ben. There was a day or two when the board switched to the new format when we had to re-register with another name but that was not even a full day if I recall correctly. There were a few weeks (such as in December 2003 and 2005) when we were on vacation and I didn't post. Plus, since most of my weekdays are spent at the office, I don't get a chance to post as often. I'm not monitored but I do get caught up in databases and meetings so I may not be here for hours at a time on any given day.
Ben - Did you change screen names at some point, so that your counter started again.
(How could it be I'm near 16,500 but you're just approaching 10,000?)

Strange, everything seems like more of an effort since I've been unemployed.I know the feeling. But it gets better. What matters is not what you do for a living, but how you live.
Greetings from Toyland! The trip down wasn't bad, although the steps of the 27th Street subway are needlessly treacherous. Because it's relatively warm, things are melting, so the puddles are huge and sometimes deep and a lot of the slush is quite slippery.
It just doesn't taste right.;D
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I went to order DOCTOR ATOMIC from the Met Website and on the page asking for my credit card info, I did NOT get the icon that shows me the site is secure.
I don't want to give my card info on an unsecure internet page. Most frustrating.
Off to cover an early breakfast event. This is a prelude to tomorrow's Cowboy Breakfast, the largest free breakfast in the world. If the weather is fine tomorrow, tens of thousands will show up for free breakfast tacos, some country music and some fun at way too early an hour.
This morning, the volunteers are making 7,000 or so tacos to take to the Army Medical Center in town and hand them out to vets and hospital staff alike.

Wow!
I wonder how many posts I have?
The weatherman I saw this morning for NYC weather on tv said that Central Park had I believe 18 inches.
OK - I'm going out to have a routine blood test, ogle some new Vera, and do some other errands - bye for now!Vibes on the test.
What's your website, JohnG?
I'm told the legal matters concerning my website are going to end this afternoon. It will be a major relief if it does, so I can get on with my work. But I'm nervous. We never know what the soon-to-be-ex-partner's emotional status will be.

I woke up and looked out the window this morning and decided to take the day off. But I'm wondering if the office was open at all--I logged in to our office network and saw no one on-line in Office Communicator. So maybe I had a snow day afterall...
Today is the birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Today is the birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
His baptismal name is Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozart%27s_name). What a mouthful! And who knew that there was so much history with one person's name?

The foundation check from December arrived. Tomorrow I mail my check for the health insurance premium. I guess I'm good for a couple of months.Yay!
DR George, I had never read about the history of Mozart's names before. Thanks for posting it.

DR John G now that I've walked Sherlock I've had time to check out http://www.savorsa.com. You have a nice site. If I knew anyone in the area I would send it to them.Thank you. I appreciate that.

DR Dan (the Man) your photos remind me more of our days in Massachusetts. In PA we had a short driveway & an attached garage. I have wonderful memories of sledding in PA. Your photos also remind me why I want to go to an even warmer climate than we currently live in :)

And I spoke with Mom today. She's still in a lot of pain, which she was told about before the surgery, but she says she never imagined it would be like this. That said, she has started reading again, the pills are working their magic and she has taken a few steps around the house.
Laughter is not the best medicine in her situation, as laughing only brings on more pain.

I might change my mind when I get older and moving piles of snow gets to be too much for me, but for now I still enjoy having four seasons, even if it includes moving piles of snow.
Betsy has relatives in Texas. We need to visit. It's a fairly large state. What part?

I think TCB is busy... piddling, twiddling and resolving.

Good evening, I spent most of the day in Omaha doing an asylum hearing. I am tired, but the drive was nice. Bright sunny beautiful day. It was 43 degrees in Omaha when I got there
DR Jane and Ginny. I'm still reading The Lacuna. I'm not sure why. I think the biggest problem is I really could care a less about the main character. I don't dislike it enough to quit reading it, but it's close
I really am tired. I worked very hard to get ready for this hearing. I thought it would take an hour or so, we were there from 1:00 until 4:30. The judge said he'll announce his decision in May. So, at least that's a few more months for my client to be here
I, myself, feel very safe tonight in Phoenix, Arizona, knowing that Steven Seagal is on patrol fighting crime in Maricopa County.

Kingsolver seems to have forgotten what subtlety is. "Prodigal Summer" was a laugh it was so stilted. I wish you had been at my book group discussion. I might have been the only person complaining ;D. I really made a stink that I felt the historical parts of the novel were shouted at me instead of simply being part of the story. I liked the main character more than you seem to.
By time we weere dug out and I was able to leave I got to work an hour late - however I more than made up for it by staying until 8:30

Oh, is my previous comment regarding a different trip where you have to testify?
I mean, really. There are plenty of things right here in the desert that would eat you if you were dead. Like turkey vultures. Or coyotes.
So, Cilla, was the toddler thing referring to your three cats?

TOD:
Since I've worked in so many different areas, that's a very difficult question. So, I'll break it down by area:
Public Relations:
1976 "Best Song" Oscar campaign for Paul Francis Webster/Sammy Fain
Theatre:
JOLSON
Film:
CHEYENNE WARRIOR
Book (Fiction):
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
Book (Non-Fiction):
MY FORTY-FIVE YEARS IN HOLLYWOOD AND HOW I ESCAPED ALIVE (Writing this was very cathartic)
Ugh - end of the day -- could use a slap
I am more than happy to say that I have just had the Muse Margaret call and I'll just say she loved the last eighty pages. She was very specific, she didn't guess the guilty party, she was totally satisfied with who it was and all the attendant explanations - and my two favorite things in this eighty pages were also hers and involve subtle emotional moments. She had three teeny-tiny word things that I changed and I am done with this book and I am happy, happy, happy (that is three happys) and am walking on both air and clouds nine and ten.

Speaking of music, my composer friend Peter Foley recommended this fantastic history of twentieth century music, which is highly entertaining:
