Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a miraculous miracle and hopefully being on the mend, and now it is time for you to post until the miraculous cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PHANTASMAGORIA!
-
HAPPY FESTIVUS!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbfMmCf5-ds
-
Sending good health vibes for all who are in need.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR Iris, it's always good to know you were here. but I sure wish our timelines coincided. Happy holidays to you!
-
BK's oatmeal comment in the notes made me realize I need some DR assistance:
I just ordered 48 packs of Quaker Instant Oatmeal (Apple Cinnamon), but I cannot read the instructions on the back of the packages; my eyes are no longer that sharp. What do they tell me to do? I'm sure it's as simple as "put oatmeal in bowl; add 1cup boiling water' let sit," but I need to know it all!
-
I have one more chapter of A&T to go through and I can send the manuscript back to the publisher.
-
This is laundry day. Thanks to my bouts of bad - I think rude might be a better adjective - health this week, the small bundle is now enormous.
-
Saturday morning greetings! Waiting for the rest of the household to wake up…
-
Today is the third anniversary of Rebecca Luker's death. How I miss her! This is our last recording together:

-
Good morning, all.
-
The cat and I are up.
The cat is fed.
I am partially fed and coffee'd, and must needs get more fed and coffee'd. I needs me some energy!
-
DR Elmore, I'm finding this online. Do you use the microwave?
How to cook Quaker Oatmeal packets
Microwave
Empty packet into microwave-safe bowl.
Add up to 3/4 cup unheated milk or water; stir. For your convenience, you can use the packet as a measuring cup.
Microwave on HIGH for 60 to 75 seconds.
Stir and let stand for 2 minutes.
Does that sound right according to what you've done in the past?
-
I have to run to the bank and at least one store before noon, and I've got a lot to get done here at home all morning and afternoon, and I have to go to my friend's annual Christmas Eve Eve par-tay this evening.
-
If no microwave, boil a cup of water, pour over oatmeal in bowl till it’s the consistency you like, wait a few minutes, eat. (Add raisins.)
-
Ginny, great house, great price! I predict a swift sale, except for the time of year we are in.
We had the EXACT same linoleum in our kitchen when we moved in here.
I wonder what the little 3-foot-tall door leads to.
I’d kill for that basement too.
-
It’s still page 1 I forgot to say…
-
Notes gawked. Stalked.
-
Did BK ever see Jane’s vintage photo?
-
Bruce: Great news that you are feeling better. At "our" age, it is best not to let these conditions linger without attention, however. I do encourage you to see your doctor and tell him or her everything that you have been feeling.
-
TOD:
Sad to say, I LOVE Krispy Kreme glazed donuts.
I love apple fritters if they are fresh.
I love a croissant with chocolate inside (my Oakland patisserie called them "chocolatines").
I loved the patisserie's "morning buns"....the same kind of dough as was used for croissants but put into baking tins with loads of sugar and cinnamon. Yum.
-
Of course, I do love blueberry muffins.
-
It is about a quarter past nine a.m., EST, and no one is here but me and ZERO guests.
Is everyone else napping still?
Are folks out and about doing last-minute whatever because tomorrow is Christmas Eve and the day after is the big holiday?
Is there something on TV that is drawing attention?
Inquiring mind, etc., etc., and so forth.
-
As Margo Channing said to Miss Harrington: "It's Christmas Eve Eve, Eve!"
-
I slept very well. I know I dreamed, but whatever I dreamed has evaporated.
I detected a small crick in the lower left of my back when I rolled over into a favorite position
I harkened to that small crick...not a sharp pain, no, but a sore spot.
I then remembered that I had been moving some heavy things around in my laundry room, and probably used some back muscles that have been unused for a while.
-
Good morning,all.
-
I suspect that if DR springpaw were here right now, a countdown would be moving us along to page 2.
I think I can get us there with small talk and irrelevant chatter.
-
OR, i could strive for relevance and say good morning to DR John G.
-
Good morning, John G.

I spent yesterday building a couple bicycles on behalf of Santa while the Mrs. wrapped the other goodies which I then concealed ‘neath a tarp in the garage. Should be a couple happy youngsters.
-
This is the earliest I’ve ever been done with toy-building! So happy to be done. I’ve been up till 4am some past Xmas eves.

Listening to Ades’ Paradiso. It’s better than Purgatorio. But a little too minimalist for my taste. At the end of Purgatorio, he introduces a theme of ascending to heaven. He then uses that theme for much of the 26-minute Paradiso. I’ll go back to Inferno.
-

I've read a couple of articles about a cat like that, but I didn't know that there was a book.
-
Here's what my lovely housemates are doing today:
Kristi is reading Christmas stories for kids - 15 stories underground - at (and in) Howe Caverns in upstate NY. That's Nathan on the right, I don't know who the others are.
Oh wait. I guess it's Santa and Mrs. Claus!
They got married there in 2012 (ceremony was above ground, though), and have maintained friendship with the couple who run the special events. They've been invited up a few times for one thing or another. It's a magnificent place, truly boggling.
-
Did BK ever see Jane’s vintage photo?

The TImberwolves are playing the Lakers tonight in LA so the game doesn't start until 10 p.m. my time.
-
But there is another college game that starts at 8 p.m.
I tried to watch some Cheerleading and High School Dance Team Competitions - but they are NOT entertaining to me.....
-
Fifty degrees and rain right now.
Dense fog advisory for many counties including mine until 11 a.m. Sunday morning.

We just received sad news today.

We just received sad news today.
:(
-
I got back into bed at around one and just woke up - it's dark out. Seventeen HOURS is quite enough.
-
No sad news. We hate sad news.
-
I think I should probably try to eat something. Not going out, although I suppose I could try Gelson's? That would only take ten minutes or so.
-
Or order something in.
-
Oh no....sad news.
-
MR BK I think you should order in.
People are crazy out there.
-
While we wait to hear from DR JANE.....
-
Years and years ago, I bought a copy of BROADWAY by Brooks Atkinson. I'm not sure if it was Half Price Books purchase or an internet purchase or what.
I knew it was a Reviewer's Copy because it had the MacMillan publishers blurb letter inside and a 5"x7" copy of a picture of Jason Robards, Jr, Colleen Dewhurst, and Ed Flanders in "A Moon For the Misbegotten."
The copyright page said it was a first edition of the 1974 revised version of the book.
I assumed it was a collection of his reviews.

I am sure you needed to sleep. Do you feel any better?

While we wait to hear from DR JANE.....
Not right now. The news was expected.
-
I picked it up to read a bit of it this week.....and it is a history of Broadway from the late 19th century to - I assume - the 1970's.
Lots of photos. It is interesting. I am still in the late 19-teens and early 19-twenties.....but lots is happening.
-
Oh okay DR JANE.
Sorry to hear.
-
I like looking out the windows at the neighborhood Christmas lights when it is foggy.....very mysterious and glowing.
Of course they always look like that when I don't have my glasses on.
-
Oh okay DR JANE.
Sorry to hear.
Thanks.

Egg salad is still really chicken salad when you think about it.

A beautiful song, and a way to recall the good that happened on this day all those years ago.

I've got a long day tomorrow.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Pippin is on Wonder Woman this morning. He is looking good.
Was that Seymour Pippin?
-
I forgot the word eskimo is now verboten. I just heard a version of The Christmas Song “with folks dressed up in winter clothes.” Oy.
Oriental is also one of those verboten words.
-
Sorry for sad news, Jane.
-
Happy news, though, about your mom-aversary.
-
I do know the Canadian Football League team, the Edmonton Eskimos, had to change their name to the Edmonton Elks. They went on to lose their next 20 games.
-
Ditto on the condolences, Jane.
Sad news is the worst kind.

How did their previous 20 games go?
-
DR Rodzinski: Has your photo always had that Photobucket logo over it?
-
I am not caught up
-
Vixdad and I took WFO for hibachi
-
It was a place we’d not been to before, but recommended by a coworker
-
We were seated with a lovely family with a teenage boy and girl about 7 and we had fun talking with them
-
We all three ended up ordering the filet mignon and scallops combo plate which was delicious.
-
What was also delicious was the news from our waitress that our dinner bill had been paid by someone who had just vacated the table behind us.
-
What an absolute surprise!
-
Vixdad laughing because my camera refused to focus while the sparkler was fired up
-
Hugs, Jane.
-
Back from a night of dancing.
-
The radish bread was a hit.
-
Wonderful photos, vixmom.
Tell William Orr that I said hello next time you speak with him.
-
Now watching The Bishop’s Wife.
-
I have developed a taste for Chex Mix this year.
-
Mom used to make it all the time.
-
Costco had the 75-pound bag for sale today for $4.99.
-
I’ll be snacking on it for weeks.
-
This version doesn’t have peanuts. I may have to add my own.
-
Onward!

Gratuitous post 301!

Probably not when you're talking about rugs. I've never heard the term "Asian rug" on Antiques Roadshow.

This is a great picture, Vixmom!

I have developed a taste for Chex Mix this year.
Mom used to make it all the time.
My sister makes some and it's really good...much less sodium in her version than the purchased version, but I wouldn't refuse the purchased version. ;)

DR Jane, I am sorry that you received sad news today.
Sending hugs.
-
Hi, Iris.
-
Good night, all.
-
Vixmom, great story and photo!
-
Managed to watch a terrible movie.
-
I really cannot understand why I still have so much guck in me.
-
For food earlier I had a not very good sandwich and merely okay dinner salad.
-
Having some oatmeal now.
-
Yes, a very happy birthday to our much missed William F. Orr.

I watched that just yesterday! I really enjoyed it.
-
DR Rodzinski: Has your photo always had that Photobucket logo over it?
No. I mean, not when I uploaded it 20 years ago back when you had to upload photos to a server like that. I don’t know if photobucket still exists.
-
WF Orr, Happy Birthday! Fun pix!
-
I do know the Canadian Football League team, the Edmonton Eskimos, had to change their name to the Edmonton Elks. They went on to lose their next 20 games.
How did their previous 20 games go?
Dunno. People just kept saying “They haven’t won since the name change.” Finally did win once or twice this season.
-
Hello Iris!
-
I do think the photobucket watermark was on my picture when I came back but that conspicuous stripe may be new? Maybe an update is the ticket in the new year.
-
I met my old lover on the street last night.
She seemed so glad to see me, I just smiled.
And we talked about some old times and we drank ourselves some beers.
Still crazy after all these years.
-
TWELVE, now we’re talkin’!
-
Ready for bed as soon as notes are posted.
-
Showered, teeth brushed.
-
Wishing you a night of good rest.
-
BK, a reminder that Jane posted a high school photo last night she wanted to see if you recognized anyone from. Wasn’t sure if you got a look at that yet.
-
I did recognize a few folks - Dolores Jiji down front. I'll look at it again when I get up.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.

I wrote them.
