WEL -- I was going to say the same thing that Jennifer said.  If I am at work and go to http://haineshisway.com or to http://208.50.7.254/community/; it always lists me as a guest until I get to the Daily Discussion Section, then I automatically become me again without having to ever sign on..

If you were gonna say it then why didn't you? :)

It's good to know that I'm not the only one this happens to.  It is very bizarre. And the first few times I always signed in again (cause I didn't know any better).

Btw, TCB you crack me up!

Okay I didn't realize that ~ were the vibes. I thought it was a link.

DR Mark: I'm not sure if this is the problem DR WEL was having. But I think when you go to haineshisway.com and try to type something in "search" (at the bottom of the page in the center), it gives an error message.

Also I don't want to get in the middle of whatever is going on between you guys. I can see you're clearly frustrated.  But going off like that was not nice.  It's better to take the highroad.

The problem WEL is discussing has nothing to do with the journal search. That has been discussed and is being looked into. The problem WEL is discussing is his belief that there is a problem with the search function here at the community discussion forums.

Regarding your second point, if you don't want to get in the middle of the discussion why have you? Additionally, "nice is different than good."

On the CD - Bob Dorough:  Devil May Care.

Nothing in VCR or DVD as I hopefully will be finishing my mini-series this weekend and ain't going to be watching anything, although our cable company finally added H/G TV to its line-up and I have been loving it.

The reason I chimed in was because I have had the same problem (trying to search from the main board).

But re: the search function on the discussion page

I'm not sure if this is the problem DR WEL was trying to tell you about. But he had posted here the other day trying to find info about a book called "EVER AFTER" which had been discussed a few weeks prior.

A bunch of us tried to do a search and it showed either nothing (or only comments from the day before).  Shouldn't the search show when the topic was discussed weeks earlier?

And btw, DR Mark: I'm sorry if what I said didn't come across properly. I'm just having a bad day.

And how long has Simon been married to Elaine (SUGAR) Joyce?

Since 9/11/99

Yesterday the Times printed a lengthy obit for dancer Katharine Sergava, best known as the original Dream Laurie in OKLAHOMA!  Today they printed a retraction saying she is not dead, but is 94 and living in a nursing home in NYC!  Don't they check these things out?

I thought Bambi Linn was the original Dream Laurie in Oklahoma!

This next one looks so good. For some reason it looks like ribs, my favorite.

Jenniffer and TCB - I took your advice and it worked!  Many thanks.

Bambi Linn was one of the dancers in the chorus of OKLAHOMA on stage, but not the Dream Laurie.  She was the Dream Laurie in the movie though.

Thanks to the DRs who helped me get the info on EVER AFTER which I could not get in the Search here.  I now have it ordered at Drama Book Shop here.  And thank you for confirming that this could not be found on the search even though it was discussed in several posts here about three weeks ago.

That's funny. I just performed a search for the phrase ever after using the Advanced Search (as I've suggested several times now) and I get results going back as far as November 12. Amazing.

DR WEL, I'm glad that trick worked.

Have a good weekend everyone?

DR Jennifer you are not the one who needed to apologize in an exchange today.

There is NEVER an excuse for rudeness from anybody NO matter how important they think they may be.

In fact YOU are owed an apology, and I think you should get one.

And now for something completely different.........

Oh Boy!  I'm excited!

I just got my new CD -- 50th Anniversary Edition of "The Robe" -- one of THE great epic film scores, totally remastered in true stereo (this was the first stereophonic film, "Fantasia" notwithstanding) from original master elements.

I'm thrilled.

I also get to leave work early today so I can go to my local VA clinic and wrangle with the pharmacy over my blood pressure prescription that has gone unfilled even though I requested a refill two weeks ago and am now out of meds.

I get these meds via Veterans Administration health care free of charge because I developed HBP (hypertension) in the military and am accorded a disability rating because of it.

I get to present my empty bottle to the pharmacist and wait for him to get my doctor to re-prescribe it.  I figure two hours ought to do it.

Sigh.

It's kind of balmy and still outside...lots of grey clouds, not much scudding, and the promise of a MAJOR storm looms.

Not being able to see Hitchcock enter from the left is but another in a LONG series of reasons why formatted to fit TV screen versions of movies are just wrong! And every time I see a studio release a DVD in that format only (when the movie was widescreen) makes my blood boil.

While Mark's post may seem snarky (and we do love that word here) -  he did a tongue in cheek warning ahead of his snarky-like post.

And in all fairness - while taking the high road might be the way to go, one might also suggest that the instigating tone of the initial post that prompted Mark's reply was quite snarky WITHOUT any tongue-in-cheek connotation. I might be reading "too" much into it.. but it DID sound like WEL was taking a potshot at Mark in a very out of the blue manner.  I know that I, for one, would probably not be able to take the high road if it were me who was put in that position. In fact, there have been times that I have rebutted (and rearmed and relegged) with Bruce for similar type posts.

Either way - the technical board is where all of these issues should be brought up. And if there is a personality issue, perhaps that is best left to private emails.

As someone posted last week - this message board shouldn't be used to air laundry. In fact, airing laundry is not supported by this board. So I am off to the technical forum to ask why this board cannot air laundry!

No snow here but there have been forecasts that there may be some light flurries tonight. It has been COLD, however, so it feels like it COULD snow.

It won't matter to me one way or the other. I have a cabinet of DVDs I haven't watched, and it would be the perfect excuse to cut that pile down to size.
