Didn't Cleopatra morph into Cher?

I thought it was Elizabeth Taylor first.  ::)

TOTD:  Roulette and Coral were my favourite labels for 45 rpm recordings.

Columbia was issued here as "Coronet" .

Coral Records had Buddy Hollyand also the McGuire sisters.

Roulette had Jimmie Rodgers and The Playmates.

RCA I associated with Perry Como and Elvis Presley.

Coronet was Johnny Mathis, Guy Mitchall, Percy Fiath etc. (Columbia).

Columbia was a label here used for some UK releases - Cliff Richard and The Shadows were on Columbia. An EMI label in this country.

DR TOMovOZ - I loved the Coral Records, too.  Lovely shade of coral!  Buddy Holly and the McGuire Sisters were on Coral.

It really bothered me when in THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY they showed the songs on the Decca Label.  Coral was a subsidiary of Decca, I think - but Buddy was on CORAL!!!!

Today's topic should be very Rodzinski friendly. I hope he make it to the Board.

Local movie critic in the daily newspaper liked RENT (3 stars out of 4). Haven't read the weekly movie reviewer yet (though I got his paper at lunch).

SOmething was wrong with the WB's high definition feed last night and the DVR cut it off after 24 minutes, so I just skipped SUPERNATURAL. I'll catch it on Sunday when the WB reruns it.

Instead, I spent the afternoon enjoying THE IPCRESS FILE all over again. I can see why Michael Caine became so famous so quickly with ALFIE and THE IPCRESS FILE back-to-back.

My Amazon DVDs didn't come today, so I'll be pulling things from the to-watch shelf for the next two days until they get here (I guess) on Friday.

If above post is too obscure for the younger readers:

Sonny & Cher first recorded as Caesar & Cleo.

Back for but a moment.  No, I didn't have anything to do with Cleopatra.  I never even liked her.

Well, you are thanked in the liner notes.   ;)

My Amazon pre-orders for "War of the Worlds" and "The Polar Express" haven't even shipped yet....both pre-ordered some time ago.

Once again, Amazon lets me down.  I now know it's folly to pre-order a thing.  If I had placed an order Monday, it would have shipped first thing yesterday and I'd be getting it today.

Sorry, DR Ron. I preordered on SUnday (both titles you mentioned plus a few others), got the shipping notice on Monday, but it didn't make it here today (and it usually does when I get those Monday shipping notices). I guess I'll get it Friday.

[I got an Ebay package today, rather large, and I'm guessing the mailman didn't want to lug two boxes to my house today.]

DR MattH, are you sure about no Veronica Mars tonight? I specifically went to the UPN site this morning and I could swear it said new Top Model and new Veronica Mars.

Maybe his local station is preempting for a Thanksgiving or sports special.

Some do that...and re-broadcast the shows later.

Argh! Well, my local UPN station is not carrying it. (I'll check to see if they're carrying it on a delayed basis in the wee hours of the morning. If not, I'll have to see the Saturday rebroadcast which won't be in HD.)

Thanks.

The only record labels that I noticed when growing up were Casablanca (because of Donna Summer and the soundtrack to "Thank God It's Friday") and Atlantic, because of The Manhattan Transfer and Bette Midler.

Other than that, I only paid attention to the record label when I discovered "Unsung Sondheim" and all of the musical theater recordings produced there.  That actually made me pay attention more to the producer of the recordings and not the label(s) where that particular producer worked.  And we all know who that producer is. ;)

I have to tell you guys this about my lunch!

It was SUPERB!

One of the specials for today was a pasta dish -- Orzo (an Italian rice) with a topping of sauteed Italian sausage, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, arugala and mushrooms all prepared with a garlic olive oil base.

The taste was indescribably scrumptious.

Six of us (out of 7) had this special and we experienced gustatorial glee!

Topped it off with some "shared" tiramisu and a cup of coffee.

My taste buds are still relishing the delights of lunch!
