Moitzie - it sounds like a boy's nickname or a term of endearment (a reference to yesterday). "Oooh, you are such a little moitzie" Is it pronounced the way it looks - moytzee?

Dan-in-TO - Great idea! I hadn't thought of the lottery as my fabulous thing for today. Wouldn't it be fabulous?

Mo-tze is the Hebrew (and more familiar pronunciation), moi-tze (not a Chinese philosopher) is the homier, more Yiddish pronunciation. The Cardinal definitely would have used the Hebrew version.

Thanks for thinking of me. Dan-in-TO. My late mother always won something (nothing big, but something) on the Lottery. I have her numbers somewhere, will one day find them and it'll be easy street for me.

Your CJN story was hilarious. They used to do articles about me when I was a Jewish media darling in TO (primarily because of the film CHARLIE GRANT'S WAR until it became controversial) and there were always a few huge errors that would either make me sound like an idiot or horribly insult colleagues in the business. On the other hand, as long as they spell your name right...

Good morning!  Good afternoon!

Well, well, well - that's three "well's"... It's not even 2:00pm here on the east coast, and we're already on Page 5!!!!

CINCO!

-The "ci" is pronounced "chi", like in Italian. - A few years ago, I noticed that I kept saying, "Cinco!" whenever there was something that needed an  exclamation point.  Don't ask... 'Cause I have no idea why I kept saying it, or where I dredged it up from.  -Thankfully, it was a very short phase.  However, today seems like a good to bring it back.. at least for the day, so...

CINCO!

I slept until NOON!!!  That was sooo nice.  The snow started here last night, and there's a nice dusting outside on the cars and trees.  It's been going on and off - according to the weather reports on the news, not my personal observations - and we should only get just over an inch of accumulation.  Thankfully, nothing is sticking to the roads since I have to head out in a little bit to run some errands - as well as get some breakfast/brunch/lunch/early-dinner.

I took my friend, Mark, out to dinner last night at one of the neighborhood restaurants here in the "Fan".  He was having one truly hellish day at work, and since I still need to stock my fridge...  I decided to splurge on a Chicken Parm sub... and onion rings... soooo good.  And for dessert, I stopped at the store across the street and picked up a pint of B&J's Half-Baked... and I only finished off half of it!  -Hmm.. maybe that was why I was feeling a little logey last night.

Then it was back here, reading HHW, and watching some bad movies on cable... I tried my best to stay up for the posting of the new notes, but I think I just missed them by a minute or two.  So...

CINCO!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR EVIL TWIN!!!

DVD--Sweeney Todd in Concert

VHS--a tape of Sex and the City

CD--Wicked OCR, The Wild Party OCR, March of the Falsettos OCR

Laura II--wonderful account of the dinner party, and loverly pics!

I really, really want Donna Murphy to win Best Actress.  Her performance in WT was a marvel.  My second choice is Kristin.  Idina was terrific, and all that...I'm just biased!

And if anyone asks who Charles Nelson Reilley is don't!!!!!!

He was on Broadway in the original casts of Hello, Dolly! and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and directed his pal Julie Harris in mnay of her recent plays on Broadway and on tour.

On Television he was a regular on The Golddiggers and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir and perhaps most famously as a regualr panelist on Match Game revival.

Now if you haven't heard on any of these shows go do an internet search and look them up!!!!

And CNR was on the recent released-on-CD-for-the-very-first-time original cast recording of the revue Parade with music and lyrics written by Jerry Herman (not to be confused with the 1999 musical-not-revue written by Jason Robert Brown with Carolee Carmello and Brent Carver).  Both of which I enjoy very much.

Only 14 to go!

Hey DR Ann: do you have any more pictures from Hawaii?  It is very cold here and I like to see the beaches and pretend it's warm.

Btw, what are the various temps in each DRs city today?

OK - Time for me to venture out to get some food - haven't had anything to eat yet today. -Of course, I've only been up for two hours so...

I also want to buy a paper shredder today - and get a good start on my "sort and purge" project over the next few weeks.  Like other DRs have stated, I'm not a collector, I just don't throw anything away... And I know there are some things that I should throw out and/or don't need at all.  -I don't think a grocery store receipt for two bottles of salad dressing has any tax and/or sentimental attachment.  Do you?

Ah, I figured if anyone on here would watch it it would be you. But I wasn't sure if you did, because of your party.

And it was sort of like a soap. I loved all the detail and the pics really made it special.

I just wish Drew hadn't left so early. Someone needs to slap him. On a real soap he would have stayed, right? :)

Maya - Which WILD PARTY, the MTC Lipa or the NYSF LaChuisa?  I have mentioned before that I prefered the Lipa on stage, but the LaChuisa on disc and I'm just curious which version you are listening to.

Jennifer - Under the old Tony rules that just changed last year ASSASSINS would have automatically been considered new because it never played Broadway.  The rules were changed due to FORTUNE'S FOOL, a 100 year old play that hadn't played Broadway before.  Now each old show that has never played Broadway is considered seperately to determine if it is new or a "classic".  Per the reasons in my previous posting it could go either way for ASSASSINS.

Re Liz Smith - I am not surprised that she or her staff made the error.  What surprised me is that someone at her syndicate or one of her client papers didn't catch it.  It isn't like she was writing about totally unknown people.  The error is understandable.  The lack of it being caught by a good proof reader is not.  It is no wonder that the "corrections" listings in the various papers seems to grow on a regular basis.

Media check #1:  In my CD player:  Lorelei first time on CD...with Carol Channing.  After that will be Lorraine Feather's "New York City Drag" where she took Fats Waller piano recordings, had them transcribed then wrote lyrics and sang them all.  I've heard a couple of songs already and it's really good.  And BK knows her!  She also sang on BK's "Sweeney Todd...In Jazz" CD!

I'm hungry. Would anyone like to build a Subway right here.

Actually I was reading an article yesterday that said there are more Subways in Quebec (and i think in canada) than even mcdonalds.

I will agree with that.  Near me we have one Subway at the mall, and like 3 others within a 10 minute drive.

Btw, can someone please try the new Atkins wraps and tell me how they are (if it was chocolate, I know every one of you would have reports already, right? :))

Media check #2:  in my VCR:  a tape to tape tonight's ABC line-up from "George Lopez" all the way to "Life With Bonnie."  I love this show.  After that will be the movie "Oh God" that I got at a clearance sale for only $4.99. :)

DR WEL: Okay in your opinion do you think a musical (such as Assassins in this case) which has played off broadway and is 10+ years old should be considered a new musical?  And if so, why?  I get that it has never played on Broadway. But it's not a new piece and I cannot even imagine it up against Avenue Q and Wicked.

Good afternoon everyone!!!

Sorry for being somewhat e and t of late... life has been getting very chaotic!  Fun and exciting... but definitely chaotic!

Work this morning continued to be a five hour roller coaster ride.  I had to come into the office EARLY, leave LATE and somehow was convinced to go in tomorrow (a SATURDAY!!!).  Oy.  I guess this will any emotional need I have to feel needed for a while ;)

In other news...

It is FE-REAKING cold outside!  Environment Canada has issued an "EXTREME WINDCHILL WARNING"!!

Environment Canada's Official Canadian Weather WarningsMontréal métropolitain-Laval
11:30 AM est Friday 9 January 2004

Wind chill warning for
Montréal métropolitain-Laval continued
Extreme wind chill of -38 to -40 will continue this afternoon over
the above regions.

Moderate northwest winds are occuring over most of Québec. These winds and very cold air are giving extreme wind chill conditions. In the Gaspé Peninsula near the St Lawrence river, cold air passing over waters is causing heavy flurries greatly reducing visibilities.  [/i]

-40c IS COLD!!!

There is a girl sitting next to me in the arts computer centre dry-humping her boyfriend.  I am not exagerrating.

I ate a subway grilled chicken sandwich today instead of a plain veggie one.  It was good and far more filling...

I need to talk with people about my hair some more... and especially those who see me on a regular basis in person - no offence to my virtual hhw hair stylists.  Then, I'll start considering salons I want to try.

This hair thing seems like a lot of work though.   Maybe I should just shave it all.  Isn't lesbian-chic in now? ;)

WEL--I'm a LaChiusa gal, all the way!  I haven't heard all of the Lippa, but I just love the jaggedness and savagery of the LaChiusa version.  The music is sooo good.  How would you compare the two?
