And I just sat through a hailstorm - hail stones like golf balls, no kidding - for the last ten minutes! And now the sun is threatening to show itself.

Oh, Penny, hope you're OK!  And check your car, if it was sitting outside.  Years ago we had such a storm and cars were damaged.

Oh, Penny, hope you're OK!  And check your car, if it was sitting outside.  Years ago we had such a storm and cars were damaged.

I saw a clip this weekend on the Weather Channel that was totally bizarre--this guy video taped a storm from inside his parked car as it was being pelted with baseball size hail.  Not only did the hail stones shatter and break the windshield--the exterior was pockmarked with deep dents.  If the guy had been outside the car he would have been killed (or knocked senseless in the very least.)

DR Vixmom, is the Vixter feeling better? I hope so!  Crazy story.  So what was she allergic to?

Taylor and Bosco - whatta nice picture! Wow - little kidz and dawgs... I have conflicting emotions when I see these types of pictures, hear wonderful stories of Normal Life with kidz and dawgs, watch nieces and nephews grow up into astoundingly beautiful and accomplished people... AND read of the Vixter's alarming allergic reaction and injuries, and random horrible stuff friends experience with their growing children... I alternate between feelings of great loss for not having children, and the "I-dodged-a-bullet" relief for not having children...

I opt for the "dodged-a-bullet" every time. ;) Just me.

Although I wasn't intending to have "the conversation" today, I just had it.  It was tortured, in a way, but necessary, and we'll see what comes out of it.  It was good that I had it, because it was important that I state everything as I see it.  It was heard, and I think understood, maybe for the first time.  I'm sure there will be a few more conversations.

Bruce, whatever happens now at least you had the conversation.  So often people find it much easier to walk away then discuss the issues.  I don’t think that is fair to either person.

She looked much better this morning and went off to school feeling fine although I did give her a couple of Bendryl to be sure that she made it through the day without the swelling coming back.   Also this morning she showed me a couple of red itchy patches on the back of her knees and she was wearing shorts  Satrday, so I suspect that some hairdressing goop got spilled onthw chair she sat in and she rubbed her knees and then rubbed her eye and got the whole thing started!  No calls from school  which should be letting out any minute so I think we're over the worse!

As for the dodging the bullet... I wouldn't trade her for anything ... although if in three years time she comes home pregant, riddled with tattoos and multiple piercings and a police record I may rethink the whole thing!

Allergies are such a pain.  The other day I purchased a Lindt chocolate bar with wafers.  After one bite I realized why I had never sampled this particular chocolate bar-the dreaded hazelnuts were in it.  I can’t believe I didn’t read the ingredients. ::)

So, I’m standing in the parking lot outside the market with a mouthful of chocolate hazelnut and a need to spit it out immediately.  ;D I couldn’t just spit chocolate on the ground, what if a dog came by and ate it.  At this point the trash can seemed miles away, nothing left to use by my hand. :-[

If I had been smart I would have returned to the market & purchased a soda to fizz my mouth clean, instead I just sucked on a hard piece of candy which helped.  Still I was a bit off the rest of the day, not a big deal really.

The more hazelnut creeps into foods & I accidentally eat it, I more I build up some sort of tolerance to it.

Great news about the cover story, PennyO!!

Also Penny, I've put in a reservation for next Monday's performance of "...in the absence of spring..."  Afterwards, I hope we can chat for a few! ;D

A brief hello and back to work. Been dealing with script stuff for the upcoming shoot, and other writing. Busy. The bells in the church around the corner are ringing as I write this and the noise from the fair is gone. Peace!

Tonight I'm attending "Oh What a Beautiful Evenin'..." The Songs of R&H. Some of the performers will be Kevin Earley, Vicki Lewis, Amick Byram and Jean Louisa Kelly. Looking forward to it.

DR Jane, Dog Bosco and I will be travelling to the Medford area in late July for a family get together...it will be a quick trip but hopefully we can meet up with you and Keith! Bosco would LOVE to take a walk in Lithia Park!

July 29th weekend, I believe.

MBarnum, I’m sorry to say Bosco is not permitted to walk in Lithia Park.  It’s okay, I know plenty of trails you will both enjoy.  At that time of year it should be beautiful on Mt. Ashland.

Can you confirm the dates?  I want to keep them open.

I forgot to post what I had intended to post when I logged on...

TOD - Most of my faves have been mentioned, so I'll add the Canadian comedy team of Wayne and Shuster. They appeared on Ed Sullivan dozens of times, but refused to move to the US. (Although they replaced Jack Benny with a show one summer in the early 60's.) Wayne and Shuster were legends in Canada. And they influenced many comedians who came after them. Lorne Michaels of SNL was Shuster's son-in-law, for example. If you want to look up more info on them...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_and_Shuster

Two factoids: Shuster was the cousin of Joe Shuster, the creator of Superman.
And they met at Harbord Collegiate, the wonderful Toronto high school I attended (way before my time, of course).

No dogs in Lithia Park! That is terrible!

It is definately the weekend of July 29th, but I don't know yet if  I will come down on the 28th or the 29th. I will let you know.

Anyone here ever heard the comic stylings of Coyle and Sharpe? Generally found on LP, their specialty was interviewing people on the street, asking them very odd questions.

DR Maria I am glad to hear the Fair is gone.  We , too, live one block from a site a annual fair... the Knights of Columbus set up a midway including rides, gambling, beer sales and a band that runs well past midnight for five  days.  We sometimes have trouble hearing our own television in our own living room withthe windows closed and beleive me the couch  and TV are about 6 feet apart.  I pity the people whose homes actually adjoin the grounds.

Anyone remember the Barton Brothers?  Classic Jewish comedy shtick, much listened to around my household when I was growing up.
