Edward Albert has passed away at age 55.

OMG! How horrible to go so young! So sad to read this.

During the course of the afternoon, I watched three GREY'S ANATOMY episodes. Two of them were the special Super Bowl episode and its follow-up. These were the episodes concerning the bazooka shell inside the man's chest.

The last one watched this afternoon introduced Dr. McSteamy, the plastic surgeon, who, of course, was jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

I did not much enjoy HELP ME HELP YOU. Didn't really make me laugh, and the patients were more irritating than amusing, unlike the Bob Newhart patients who were as familiar and welcome as family.

I did enjoy Craig Bierko's introduction to BOSTON LEGAL, but the episode wasn't advertised as a two parter, but the cases introduced in this episode certainly were not brought to conclusion by the end of the hour. Denny's dwarf case and Bierko's first case with the murder of a judge were barely begun before the show was over.

There were some good laughs in the show. I did enjoy it; just a bit frustrated that we didn't see the cases brought to a conclusion this week. I did peep at the previews just to make sure the cases were going to continue next week, and they are.

LAW & ORDER: SVU also had some personal baggage getting into the way of the case at hand as Stabler's imminent divorce and estrangement from his oldest daughter were used against him as he appeared as a witness in a similar court case. I guess if these writers are going to bring in personal matters into these procedurals, at least they work them into the cases they're working on.

Edisaurus,
BK's many talents surfaced at a very early age. He knew what he wanted to do when he was 13 or 14 (you would agree, wouldn't you, Bruce?) and is probably the most focused person I've ever met. He was doing in his teens--in this case, acting, singing, songwriting, producing--what others might only do in their twenties or later. Truly precocious. He didn't wait until he finished college to start his career--he just went ahead and started. Little gets in his way. So he had a GIANT head start. All that talent doesn't hurt, either...

TOD:
(aside from the Esteemed BK)
I, too, admire Maya Angelou and Margery Allingham.
For many years my favorite mystery writers were Minette Walters and Elizabeth George. Then I discovered Laurie King, whose works I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
For other fiction, I admire Rosamunde Pilcher.
Those are just off the top of my head.

Well, I can still wear the dress if I want to - it's hanging in my dressing room.  ;)

Have you tried it on lately? Your size 2 has blossomed into a size 4 at least ::)

I am doing it on IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and its implementation in school districts in a rural state.

Talk about the NIMBY syndrome or Not next to my kid!

And quite frankly, beyond a nominal  per capita amount, NOT on my tax dollar! IDEA and other under-funded Federal mandates have wrecked havoc on public education >:(

As I mentioned a few days ago, I’m going to Ottawa for a couple of days next week to be part of the opening of a photo portrait exhibit of 50 Hungarians who have contributed to changing Canada (for the better, I assume). I just read the list of those being honored and I must say I’m in very nice company – a Nobel Prize winner, a renowned publisher, producers, poets, musicians, writers, dancers, singers, scientists, physicians, inventors, philanthropists – and – drum roll – Elvis Stojko! I know some of you are fans of his (I am!).

"The Lake House" -- absolutely wonderful!

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are PERFECTION.

Elvis Stojko is another of those extremely talented skaters (like Todd Eldredge) who gained world titles without ever being able to get that Olympic gold medal. And due to Elvis' dynamic and hard-driving skating style, he often skated with injuries and still won!

My pick for most missed musical number would be "Who's That Woman" from FOLLIES.

I'm confused!

The questions was:

Quote
What musical number from a Broadway show that NEVER made it into the film version is MOST missed....

There had been no film vesion of FOLLIES from which any number could be missed! (Follies on Concert - DVD - has the number)

And those who stayed behind are still struggling:

Sorry, I misread it. I thought it said was never made into a film rather than a number from a filmed show that was dropped. In that case, my answer would be "My Own Best Friend" from CHICAGO.

The little person who played (and is) the "dwarf" is Meredith Eaton.  She played Kathy Bates' daughter-in-law in "Unconditional Love," also starring Rupert Everett.  It's a cute movie and Meredith is hysterical!  Jack Noseworthy (formerly of Jose's Lestat) played Meredith's husband and Kathy Bates' son.  On "Boston Legal," the picture that Denny had of her is one of the pictures for her on IMDB.com.

Thanks for the info. I don't think I've ever seen her before, but she was effective, and I'll enjoy seeing that case play out next week (or maybe even longer).

BAILEY, Colo. — An adult gunman took at least two people hostage at Platte Canyon High School in the tiny mountain town of Bailey on Wednesday, and was holding at least four people hostage.

Platte and the adjoining Fitzsimmons Middle School were being Wednesday after reports of shots fired. Schools in the surrounding areas were on lockdown. Around 4:30 p.m. ET, there were reports that a tank was brought in and aimed at the door of the school, as were the SWAT teams on scene.
