Is the Jim Dale who composed "Georgy Girl" the Jim Dale who starred as BARNUM?

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I've been up for a while playing host.  I ground the beans, I made the coffee.  I toasted the bagels, I made some eggs.  Etc., etc., etc.

My friends, Mike and Linda, have just headed down to Rockefeller Center, where they're going to do Top of the Rock.  And then from there, they're going to head down to the West Village and start working their way back east to Chinatown in time to catch their bus back to Richmond this afternoon.  And it looks like they got another nice day today for walking around the city.  It was great seeing Mike again, and meeting his friend - and now mine - Linda.  Depending how the timing works out, I may meet them in SoHo for lunch later on.  We'll see.

Whew!  All caught up!

DR Ginny - thanks for that Jim Dale link!  I can't comprehend attending a convention with 19,999 other people.  It must be completely overwhelming!

One of the--dare I say it?--sexiest pieces of music, ever!

And the video ain't bad either.  ;)

-However, the song and the video did go through a period of heavy rotation.  Every time I turned the radio on, or turn on MTV... There it was.  Again?!?!?

But it's still one "damn saxy" piece of music.

the rest of the competition?

That reminds me of a fun [kind of campy, though I don't think intentionally] film that I haven't seen in ages...

Does anyone remember Lee Remick as a master piano teacher in The Competition?

Now I am jaded about Xandu

The actor that "injured" himself is being replaced by Cheyenne Jackson the star of All Shook Up.

MMMMMMM a relatively well known "star" replacing another relatively well known "star" who would have thunk it.

It one of the understudies remained in the lead and they got another actor to replace him then it wouldn't have made me jaded.

The one on the left looks like a wax figure from Madame Tusseaus!

Since to see you back TD

Well, that's not a wax figure from Madame Tussaud's.  Although, I guess you could say the Ms. Worley is very well-preserved in a sense.  As well as a very nice and gracious lady.

Umm.... Yes, you're still jaded.  Although, I think presumptuous is a more appropriate term.

Cheyenne did the workshop last year of Xanadu.  And if this was in the works, I have a feeling that Cheyenne would have "miraculously" learned all the new material and roller-skating "overnight" and would be going on sooner than next week.

And in the Broadway world, isn't everyone a "relatively well known star"  -At least to people who actually keep track of the names in the Playbills.

Now... If something were to happen to Kerry Butler in the next few days, and Jane Krakowski suddenly stepped back into the role, well...

For now, just let the show open officially.  Remember, Broadway - and theatre (and film, etc.) is a form of entertainment.  You're either on the stage (or off the stage, or in the pit, or in the flys) or in the audience.  It's not a spectator sport.

Of course I meant it in the nicest possible way. She does look fabulous for a 70 year old grand dame of Laugh In

Cody [a chocolate lab] is visiting us for a while.  His sniffer is mighty powerful.  When we're out for a walk, it sounds like a pneumatic piston!  Very funny.

Unfortunately, he has severe hip dysplasia.  He's not in any pain right now, but at some point he's going to need a double hip replacement, and his owner can't afford the medical bills, OR the time to invest in six months of slow, painful recovery.  Very sad!  I've heard of programs with veterinary schools where they'll perform such operations for free, as a learning experience for their vet students, but the owner then doesn't get the dog back...it's adopted out.  Still worth investigating, I guess, if it saves the dog!

i liked that movie a lot, DR Singdaw.  I don't think I've seen it in over twenty years, though.

Someone yesterday posted a news item/slide show about Broadway Bares.
Here is a link to youtube with one of the most infamous routines with Christopher Seiber (spamalot) and his partner Kevin Burrows.

You will probably have to sign in to view it as it considered adult viewing and agree to view its contents. But give it a try.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DDPy_FBdw7s

A few years ago, someone put together an amazing multi-camera version of this routine.  Even cleaned up the picture and sound a bit.  Quite a nice piece of work.  Kevin showed it to us at a cast part down at Arena.  Even he and Chris were amazed at how good - and hot(!) - the video looked.

-And if I'm remembering properly, I believe Kevin is still out on the road with the Spamalot company, and Chris is about to go back into the Broadway company for a bit now that he's back from London.

Good morning, DR TOMovOZ.

DR JOSE - will your name be in the Playbill?

Nope.  But, again, as long as my name is on the check... :)

You'd be amazed at the amount of subs and subbing that goes in Broadway pits.  -Even in symphony orchestras from time to time.  If the producers were required to list everyone who covers a particular book, that would be quite a listing!  Some chairs have three to four people "covering" the book.  Heck, I'm #14 on the Mamma Mia! list here in NYC.  However, it's always good to have the depth in your coverage.

Now, if someone else were to leave the pit, and I get to take over the book, well, then I'd get my name in the Playbill.

A friend is turning 50 on Sunday and he, another friend and I are having a leisurely dinner in the Gayborhood this evening. We will walk from 14th Street to 23rd and decide where to eat and then we will saunter down to the Village and finish the evening with some of the best ice cream in the city at Cones (I can't find a Web site).

Alas, Cones does not have a website, but they are listed over at MenuPages.com:
