I have never played Strip Poker.

Neither have I!
But, I confess, I have played Strip Trivial Pursuit.

No CDs - what else is new?  I now have the number of the plant and I'm on the phone with them now.  They'll be finished in thirty minutes, I've just been told.  They're now trying to get hold on the CD lady so she can pick them up and get them to me.  Naturally, she isn't answering her cell phone.  I told them if they haven't gotten in touch with her in thirty minutes, that I'll come and get them - they're in Burbank, and it's a pain in the ASS, but I'll do it.

CDs should be here by two.  If they are, I'll package 'em up and get 'em to the post office today.  If they come later, then it will have to be in the morning.

The choreographer from the movie HAIRSPRAY was a judge on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE last night...Adam something....and he was shut down a couple of times by Nigel....  But he did tend to go on and on and break into other people's time.

I think he both directed and choreographed the film. Adam Shankman or something like that.

I really have to make a decision re Barry Pearl as The Brain.  I'm very tempted to do it, but I'm just in a weird position because I a) don't know who in NY might be available to us, and b) whether we're rethinking the Brain head - if we use what we did, I don't know any leading actors who would care to be in a Brain head the whole show, whereas Barry totally "gets" the gig and its requirments.  I know he'd sing it well, and I know he's funny.

I brought car in from its 60,000 mile matainence (actually 55,000 miles) so I can some hours to kill and I went to the 9:30am showing of Harry Potter and _________(whatever it was called) Besides myself there was one other person in theater.

The film is a lot darker than some of the other. It is definitly not a bright, cheery uplighting story. I have not read the book so I cannot tell you what was left out.

I enjoyed it for what is was 2.5 hr time filler while my car was being worked on.

Thanks, DR Michael. All of the books/movies from here on out are supposed to be dark. Lord Valdemort has returned, and it's now a fight to the death.

Lots has obviously been left out. HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX is the longest of the books and has the shortest running time of any of the films yet produced.

I had time this afternoon to watch three programs. I began with MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST. It was a funny show this week as Kathy hosts the Gay Porn Awards, has a blind date with a poker champion (a total pig), and then entertains at both women's and men's prisons. The prison sequences which were the last half of the show were funny but also quite touching as we see many inmates who are learning skills like auto repair and culinary management that they'll be able to apply once they're released. Kathy seemed moved by the experience of meeting some of these criminals making an hoest effort to turn their lives around.

Next, I enjoyed rewatching this week's episode of THE CLOSER. I wanted to clear the space on my DVR, so I needed to see it again today. What a harrowing episode, just as devastating the second time through as it was when initially watching.

I ended the afternoon finishing the last episode on disc 4 in the MURDER SHE WROTE set. It's another Jessica-less episode, this one centered on the faked suicide of a shrewish wife by what appeared to be her philandering husband. So, for most of the episode, it was COLUMBO-style as we thought we knew the killer and watched the detective track him down. A little wrench was thrown in at the last minute (didn't really ring very true.) Pat Hingle and Ron Leibman were the two most famous guest stars.

In the mail today, I got a studio screener of an upcoming movie from Magnolia Studios called CASHBACK. I'll be watching that tonight. I've heard good things about it.

Heading down now to clean the bedroom areas. I didn't get to it this morning, and now it must be done before I can settle in for an evening of viewing.

They have a very wide range so it wouldn't surprise me.

??hmmmmm.... kind of odd?  But I use what is called a "Media Mail" rate for small packages, and sometimes it is fairly swift, and at other times not so swift.

That's my experience, too. Your CD's got here very quickly, MusicGuy, but I've had packages I've sent MM that took over a week.

I wonder if dear Esteemed BK ever uses the "Media Mail" rate, and what his experience has been?

I've had Media Mail packages take four weeks, which is why I prefer Priority Mail. I consider Media Mail legalized postal theft.

Yes, there is an occasional loss or damage of a package, but nowhere near as prevalent as the USPS.

I've had a different experience--for me, the USPS is the most reliable, and UPS had caused me to want to strangle someone there a number of times. I've also had several packages seriously damaged by them.

The only problems I've had with USPS is occasionally I will get someone else's mail, but then I take it to them.
