Good Evening!

Back from the auditions...

I was booked for two hours, and actually though it would be a full two-hour session from what I was told. Well, we saw one couple, and that was it. I was out of there in 20 minutes. But what a 20 minutes!

I did get star-struck, but not from the people auditioning - I knew them, and have worked with them before. However, the people behind the table were a different matter. Since this turned out to be a final casting session, all the "higher-ups" were there: Walter Bobbie, Rob Fisher, Jack Viertel, Jay Binder. Needless to say, when Rob Fisher came over to the piano to help out with the initial run-through of the songs, I almost got a little finger-tied, but I believe I made a good impression. -And since the lower half of the piano seemed to be having technical/mechanical issues, well... Good for me!

And back from dinner too...

Yes, we all ate "large".

When we were handed the menus, I kept looking at it... and looking at it. It just looked different, new. Well, then I remembered that the only other times I've eaten at Brooklyn Diner - well at that location - it's been either for breakfast or post-show dessert. So, it was all now - to me, at least!

DR TCB - Well, the only reason I ordered the lemon meringue pie this time was because it was the only dessert I had not yet tried at the Brooklyn Diner.

DR Jane - The lemon meringue pie at the Brooklyn Pie was good. Not great, but very good. The layer of meringue on top is about eight inches high, and I from what I could tell, they use an "Italian Meringue" since there's no possible way they could have that big a topping of meringue and cook it through - at least to make it "restaurant safe". But it is just too much meringue. And since the meringue is partially cooked before it's browned, there's a hint of caramel in it. Not bad, just not that complementary to the lemon curd. As for the lemon curd layer, it's tart enough, and just sweet enough too. The crust was flaky, if just a bit dense for my tastes.

Alet took a small bite of it... She didn't like it.

-Next time, I think I'll go back to the Chocolate Banana Cream Pie with Candied Hazelnuts.

In between the auditions and dinner, I tried to do some browsing at the Virgin Megastore. Unfortunately, due to a book-signing by Nikki Sixx

, the whole lower-level of the store was closed off. And it was still closed off when I checked back in after dinner. And the manager had no idea when they would re-open the DVD section. Apparently, Mr. Sixx had taken a break earlier so that he could keep signing copies of his book, "The Heroin Diaries", until everyone who had lined up to see him had gotten their books signed. -And, boy was that quite a line of people! And the staff almost caused a riot when the security detail for Nikki Sixx decided to re-start the line.

While Googling to find out who Nikki Sixx was, so I didn't have to look stupid and ask; I discovered that Kiefer Sutherland got himself arrested last night.

I was able to get quite a bit watched tonight.

I began with two episodes of CRIMINAL MINDS form the second season box set. In the first, the second part of a two part story which was how they ended the first season, a kid was being kept in a room a la THE COLLECTOR. In fact, that book had a lot to do with the solution of the crime.

The second episode was dealing with a father who was auctioning off his foster son on the internet. Very creepy. John Rubenstein was the guest star.

Next, I quickly skimmed through AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest for me today, but the previews for tomorrow do feature Noah, Luke , Maddie, and the Colonel.

I watched CSI: MIAMI next. Yep, they've got two guys vying for Calleigh. Ryan is working at a pistol range. Frank Tripp has completely shaved his head. And Horatio has a son he never knew about.

The case was almost secondary to all that drama.

BONES had a nice season opener tonight. I was very frightened that Zach (Eric Millegin) had been written off the show (as being in Iraq), but thankfully that wasn't to be. And the episode about cannibals was especially disconcerting.

Ended the evening with DAMAGES and some surprising events. The promos for this episode featured a surprising encounter between Glenn Close and Ted Danson. In the actual show, those clips were actually from a dream!
