This is kind of funny:
The Ben Brantley "Did He Like It?" website
[The Guide to the Most Powerful Reviewer On The Planet]

The illustration makes him look like Jerry Seinfeld.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.   ::)

Just got an e from a friend who's doing a polish on a film script:

Can you suggest the name of a "regular" place in Indiana for a modern girl (18) to be raised somewhat sheltered (small town-ish), yet able to do some local modeling (small city-ish)?  It only figures in where's she from, not otherwise.

There is Indianapolis, of course.  But outskirts locales -- small-townish, nice communities -- include Carmel and Muncie.  Franklin, of course, is nice.  I believe JRand is from Mooresville.

I was pretty good at ice skating, tennis, basketball & ping pong.  I enjoyed horse back riding, playing touch foot ball, volleyball, baseball & handball.  I even learned to box from my brother.  I loved to dance.  In high school the modern dance teacher asked me to audition for the dance troupe she preformed with.  I declined.  Oh, I was rather decent at archery.  I loved swimming, even swam out to the end of the Santa Monica Pier a couple of times.  I was extremely good at hop scotch.  Basically if it required movement, I loved doing it.  Once my bicycle fell apart I substituted running instead of riding everywhere.

My father often took me to baseball games which I loved.  At home we watched boxing.  I never really got into football & I prefer baseball live to watching on TV.  I miss Craig living at home cuz he is our big sports fan & sometimes I would watch different games with him.  Bryan doesn’t enjoy it all & Keith isn’t very interested.

I can’t play sports anymore, which I still find difficult at times.  With Keith home I don’t watch Ice Skating like I used to.  I miss going to baseball games, specifically Dodger games.

Topic of the Day:  I'm not really a fan of sports...playing or watching.  Except ice skating during the Olympics and Seattle Storm women's basketball.  My niece became a fan of the Storm and I took her to quite a few games over the last few years.  That's been fun.  The Storm fans are quite polite...not like the rude men's basketball fans that you hear about. ::)

That means that I can't leave my house until it's done.  I'm still at home, waiting for this to cook more fully.  At least, it'll be much warmer by the time we're supposed to eat (noon, PDT) than if it was done on time and sat on a counter for an hour...I guess :-\

I've done a few of the things that needed doing - later I'll go see if there's any mail, and I think I'll do the few orders that have come in today tomorrow, just in case more come in (always the hope!).

Well, I think the lasagna is warm enough...and it it's not, then at least I'm not the only one bringing any.  Probably close to 40 people will be there, so there will be a LOT of food. :D

Until later!

We have had a very busy bring your sons to work morning.  Now we are back home and I am very excited to report that two long-awaited items have arrived in the mail:

1.  A gorgeous original pastel of Frances, signed by her, done for a Washington Post feature in 1938 for the Golden Boy tour, that is simply unbelievably gorgeous (and huge--you should have seen the box(es) it came in).  Has anyone heard of an artist named Adrienne Low or Adrienne Hall?  I'm trying to establish provenance of this piece.

2.  A much smaller box from Kritzerland that I haven't opened yet, but which I'm sure a little Sondheim music in it.

Speaking of eBay, I have a new slew of DVDs up, if anyone's interested.

I also have two negatives, Jane, both of which were totally undeserved.  One was from a seller who had charged me extra for insurance and shipped the item uninsured.  I very nicely emailed her and asked for my insurance money back, and she responded with a negative.  I found out she was an author and I did some hysterically funny reviews of her self-published books on Amazon, including linking one of her books with Maalox under that "this book goes well with" feature.  :)

The second was a buyer who sent a check express mail and then left negative feedback the day the check arrived (before it had cleared, obviously) because I didn't ship in time for him to give the DVD to his son for his son's birthday.

I have just changed my descriptions to ask people not to bid if they think my s/h isn't to their liking.  I charge $4.50 for first class shipping in a bubble envellope with delivery confirmation.  I make nothing on shipping and it just drives me crazy when people give me one star on that new detailed rating system.  Do they expect stuff to come for free?  Most of my DVDs sell for 99 cents, plus the outrageous $4.50 shipping means they get something new for $5.49 that retails at a minimum for $19.99.  Oy.

End of rant.

Whenever we think we are in the clear, there seems to be another hurdle (a track and field reference).

JMK, Bryan's score is almost perfect so those must have been very small complaints.  His guess, the mail was a day slow in arriving, not sending.  It is still very impressive.  I'm also proud of him for giving up his collection, it isn't easy to do.

I just hate those hurdles.  I did win a second place ribbon at camp once for the high jump-have no idea how I did that.  Same with the first place ribbon for the long jump.

I was just reminiscing about my year in Kindergarten.  We had "nap time" every day, and the person who was the best-behaved [I guess the quietest/stillest] got to be the "Wakeup Fairy."

I wonder if that has had any lasting impact?    ;)

I'm practicing with Sherlock for a down stay-three minutes out of my sight.  He has his canine good citizens test tonight & this will be the most difficult part of the exam.  He doesn't stay down when I leave him with someone else.  He also does a lot of whimpering.   A little whimpering is acceptable, not a lot. ;D

The other major hurdle to his passing, is keeping him from pulling me while only wearing a regular collar.  Normally I keep a pinch on him.  I know they look barbaric but they work the best for him, and he doesn't seem to mind it.  He is fine having it put on and still pulls me while wearing it.  I wish he did mind it.
