Do any DR's have any info about this show? http://www.joytheplayonline.com/

I know its not question day, but just wondering

Thanks for the link.  So they went ahead and shortened/changed the title of The Joy of Gay Sex...  I see said the blind man...

Looking at the cast list, I actually know a few people in the show.  Becca Ayers was our Eve/Noah's Wife last year at Ford's Theatre.  Great voice.  Fun person.

Hmm... They'll still be running the week after Hallelujah, Baby! closes... Hmm...

I, too, love those eclairs and cream puffs and napoleons!

I also love fresh brioche.  Ditto popovers, with some homemade jam on the side.

I look forward to hearing about it, I'd like to take the Vixter, but tickets for shows are so pricey these days I always hesitate until I get some reliable feedback  :D

But what, he wondered, did any of this have to do with the MEANING OF LIFE?

Why are we here, what's life all about?
Is God really real, or is there some doubt?
Well tonight we're going to sort it all out,
For tonight it's the Meaning of Life.

What's the point of all this hoax?
Is it the chicken and the egg time, are we just yolks?
Or perhaps we're just one of God's little jokes,
Well ça c'est the Meaning of Life.

Is life just a game where we make up the rules,
While we're searching for something to say,
Or are we just simply spiralling coils
Of self-replicating DNA?

In this life, What is our fate?
Is there Heaven and Hell? Do we reincarnate?
In mankind evolving or is it too late?
Well tonight here's the Meaning of Life.

For millions this life is a sad vale of tears,
Sitting round with nothing to say,
While scientists say we're just simply spiralling coils,
Of self-replicating DNA.

So just why, why are we here?
And just what, what, what, what do we fear?
Well çe soir, for a change, it will all be made clear,
For this is the Meaning of Life
- c'est le sens de la vie,
This is the Meaning of Life.

Vix, do you know about TDF (Theatre Development Fund)? They run the TKTS Booth (half-price tickets) at 47th Street in midtown. If you are in one of the following categories you can join TDF and get reduced tickets to many shows (the following is from their Web site at http://www.tdf.org/). I joined TDF years ago. I'm seeing Little Women for $30, more than half off the box office price and even less than tickets from the TKTS Booth.

You may qualify for Theatre Development Fund Membership. Only students, teachers, union members, seniors (62 or over), civil service employees, staff members of not-for-profit organizations, performing arts professionals, members of the armed forces and clergy are eligible to become TDF members.

Even if you can't join yourself, perhaps someone you know could join (DR in absentia WFO perhaps since he's a teacher) and purchase discount tickets for you. You can browse their Web site every day looking for bargin tickets. They don't just have Broadway shows either. This is a current list of what's available at discount from TDF.

This is most excellent news!! Thank you!
DH just recently became a union member so hopefully we can join..are the seats always in the nosebleed section or are they sometimes a little closer to the stage?

Bye the bye, I'm not Vix, I'm MOM  ;D, (Vix is the cute one)

DR Hisaka, I had a feeling that you had tasted the wonderful Beard Papa's cream puffs, as I know it is a very popular chain based in Japan. There are also very long lines to get in here in New York, but I agree, it's worth the wait. They are planning to open several more in New York, then Los Angeles and perhaps Seattle.

Hi all - just poping in to say that I haven't been posting, but I've been reading the posts!  "Seussical" opens next Friday, and we have been rehearsing those kid's butts off and it's starting to come together.  As usual, the director has all the time in the world to work on staging gone bad and choreography gone bad, and I have to schedule vocal rehearsals outside of rehearsal for vocals gone bad... something isn't right there!!

The new job is going fine as is the studio.  I just picked up the Keyboard 2 part for "DIsney's Beauty and the Beast" that one of the local high schools is doing, the first in Calif. which is cool, and "Zombie Prom" auditions in 2 weeks.

Pastry - a nice warm Chocolate crousant (sp!!)

So, Beard Papa's has taken over the Krispy Kreme "there will always be lines" franchise, eh?  I knew Krispy Kreme (which I don't care for really) would lose its allure at some point and that people needed some other "new" thing to go stand in line for.  I'm anxious to try a Beard Papa's but won't be standing in line for it.

I just watched BATMAN AND ROBIN. That's another movie I've always liked that everyone else detests (from yesterday's question), even though I can see that it's a terrible movie.

But the colorful picture literally bursts from the screen (the first time I have seen it on my HDTV), and the sound is spectacular. It was a fun away to spend a couple of hours.

Next up, PRIVATES ON PARADE, I think.

OK, Mom ;-).

The seats are all over the theatre. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are up, up, up. If it's an Off-Broadway show it's not a problem but in a theatre like the Minskoff or Gershwin, it's probably a good idea to bring binocs just in case.

Speaking of BATMAN AND ROBIN, I read the other day that the 1949 B&R serial is coming to DVD in the months ahead.

I taped it off an AMC marathon several years ago but in EP to fit all 15 chapters onto a long tape, so it'll be nice to have looking the best it can look.

Those of us that are 50+, did any of your local movie theaters still play serials when you were young? There was one second run theater in my town that did. I can vaguely remember seeing various episodes of BATMAN AND ROBIN and also ZORRO'S BLACK WHIP (isn't that the one where Zorro was a woman?)

Tomorrow, both ARE WE THERE YET (filmed in Portland, Orygun), and BEYOND THE SEA open here.

Also just noticed that Peter Cincotti is in BEYOND THE SEA.

I want to see one of them this weekend...but can't decide which one.

I think I figured out why I love ALW's "The Woman in White" as much as I do.  He seems to have written it in the same musical style as "Aspects of Love" and is orchestrated in the same way, and I have a HUGE passion for "Aspects of Love".  Just thought I'd share :)
