Well, my favorite Elliott pulled off two controlled, classy, passionate, and confident vocals. Definitely my favorite two songs of the night.
I thought Taylor had a very good night as well. I'd rank him second among the vocalists. He had fun with "Jailhouse Rock" and did a very soulful "In the Ghetto." His best overall night for quite a while, I thought.
Chris had an up and down night, but it was mostly fine. "Suspicious Minds" was mellow; "A Little More Conversation" was pretty good. The arrangement might have shifted the key upward a little earlier to give him more thrust into the song. The lower parts were rather bland while he did get in all the words and notes.
Sad to say, Katharine had a disastrous evening in my estimation. She not only forgot some words on her medley of "Hound Dog, "Don't Be Cruel" but when she got back the words, she was not on pitch and it ended badly. My favorite Elvis song "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" was just massacred to my ears. She took this sweet, simple ballad and embellished it to irritating and ineffectual degree. Again, by the end, her breathing was off, she lost her pitch, and lost the end of the song completely.
Everyone's lines were busy tonight, but I managed to get through at certain points to everyone (Taylor the least), so this may be close. Taylor alone is the only remaining vocalist who's never been in the bottom group. I think he'll stay that way tomorrow night, too.
For me, Elliott did more than enough to warrant a place in the final three, but I have a feeling that he'll go and Katharine will get to stay.
