ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE, ELIMINATE THE NEGATIVE
« on: May 13, 2006, 12:12:23 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had some positively negatively positive things, and now it is time for you to post until the positive cows come home, which they positively will.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIRTHDAY FELICITATIONS TO DR JULIEANNE POGUE AKA LA JOLIE FEMME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[/move]
Good morning, all!  Strangely, I slept better last week in the guestbed of my father's home than last night in my own bed.  I have no theories to follow up this observation, but it's still good being sleepless in Manhattan.

I return to Toyland this morning after picking up a week's worth of mail from my local post office.  God alone knows what fresh hell awaits me in either locale

My Romance (Rodgers & Hart)
Falling in Love with Love (Rodgers & Hart)
Imagining You (David Evans & Winny Holtzman)
You Have Made Me Love (Michael Lewis & Anthony Burgess)

Hmmmm....

I like "Falling in Love With Love" as well.

I guess my favorite is kind of an Anti Love song:  "Love Look Away."

BUT as for LOVE songs proper....I suppose "Looking Through the Eyes of Love" from ICE CASTLES; "This Can't Be Love" another Rodgers & Hart, I think;  and "Small World" from GYPSY.

Of course as other DR's chime in, I will remember what my favorite song is.

I am intrigued by Mr BK's description of his 60's "Gidget-type" song!  May we know the title?

I was thinking about todays subject but in the opposite way. There is a song I absolutely hate. I cringe every time I hear it. DOn't know why but I do. It's: Time After Time.

And I just realized my love songs that I chose were all about doomed love affairs. Maybe that's why I am single :'(

DR MichaelShayne, is this the song by  Cyndi Lauper or Jule Styne?  I like them both!

I forgot another great Rodgers & Hart song:  You're Nearer

Yes DR ELMORE - he is a stah indeed....not the BIGGEST stah, but a stah nonetheless.

The Lovely Wife's and my song is MY REVERIE, a song that came out in the thirties first popularized by one of Rodzinski's favourite big bands, Larry Clinton and his Orchestra, vocalist Bea Wain.  It is based on Debussy's composition, REVERIE.

We got back from Philly late last night.  We were successful in finding a park for the children (and their parental companions) to have lunch after their playgoing experience, in very easy walking distance from the theater.  Then we did some shopping, and had dinner, and did some more shopping, and came home.

All told, three books for me, two for der B, I forget how many for the grandlads, some DVDs for the lads, and four CDs for us.

We enjoyed Brent Barrett's Alan Jay Lerner Album on our way home - I repeatedly had to turn on the overhead light, because der B wanted to know what shows the songs were from.  He also wants to know how our esteemed BK managed to snag Miss Lauren Bacall for her duet with BB.

We then listened to the London Cast Recording of Mary Poppins.  At first, that the songs were not in their expected places from the film was disorientating, as was the new material, but we enjoyed the disc.  The biggest problem is that there is no synopsis included, which struck me as wicked.

I'll try to catch up later.  Time to head off to work, to pay for all those books/CDs/etc.

TOD:

"They Were You," from The Fantasticks.  DH Richard and I were falling in love at the time I played the Mute, directed by DR Elmore.  We included that song our pre-wedding organ music and it was playing just as all my community theater buddies were taking their seats.

Good morning!

Beautiful, cloudless blue skies here along with moderate temperatures, so I'm sure a walk will be in order later today. The rain which was supposed to hit us for a couple of days earlier in the week missed us entirely.

Looking forward to enjoying GAY PURR-EE today. Haven't watched it in many years, and I'm hoping the anamorphic DVD transfer will increase my enjoyment.

Then, it's on to THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE in Fox's new DVD set. The transfer has gotten rave reviews over the last non-anamorphic release.
