Jose - Not sure if you saw it, but the Washington Post review of the Signature Theater's ASSASSINS is quite a rave.

Thanks for the heads up.  -Although, I'm not that surprised it got a rave.  That's DC Theatre and DC Theatre critics for ya'.

-And that's all I'll say on the matter for now.

Off to lunch...

When you're down and troubled
And you need some love and care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up
Even your darkest night

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together baby
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me
Knockin' at your door

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there

Ain't it good to know that
You've got a friend?
People can be so cold oh yeah
They'll hurt you and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
But don't you let them

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

You've got a friend
You've got a friend.

You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got troubles, well I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and we see it through
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you the way I do
It's me and you
And as the years go by
Boys, our friendship will never die
You're gonna see
It's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

I rode my bike for the first time since my neck problems (a few weeks ago).

While on my bike the weirdest thing happened.

I felt something on my head. Well actually i felt it on my helmut.  It felt sort of heavy. And I sort of shook my head (while riding) and you'll never guess what it was??

A BIRD!

What the heck was a bird doing landing on my head? I have never experienced anything like this.

I do love this here site and its denizens.

We've had our first order for Deceit - and for three copies yet.  Only ninety-seven chances left for a signed copy!

I can't do a thing until the fershluganeh institue pays me!

Hmmm, interesting that you put Deceit up for pre-order today. I actually checked last week.  But of course you put it up the day after i go over my finances and decide that i am not buying anything for myself for the near future.  I try to be very careful with money. And i've actually never owed a penny on my credit card bills. I've mapped out the next 8 months and right now it's more important to me to help out someone very important to me financially vs buying stuff for me.

BK, re: whether to send the email to your friend.

First off, I'll bet she reads about it here. I'm sure someone that she knows will probably tell her about it.

Second, I agree with those who said not to send it.  Since you have professional ties to her, it's not really practical for you to never speak to her again.

I think if you've decided she's too immature, then just cool things off.  It doesn't have to be the complete end of things.  If/when she calls you to find out why you are not talking to her, then perhaps you can tell her that you've decided not to do the play with her, and maybe you can share why you feel the way you do.

But i don't think there is any reason to tell her never to contact you again.  That is really harsh.  Unless she's done something really terrible that we don't know about.  She needs to grow out of this phase.  ANd if you don't want to be around her 24/7 anymore that is your choice. But i don't think you have to make a huge deal about it.

Jose - Not sure if you saw it, but the Washington Post review of the Signature Theater's ASSASSINS is quite a rave.

I'm sure it's because they didn't ask me to work on it again! ;D

DR PennyO, that's terrible news about your friend.  I'm dealing a bit with a friend crisis here as well today with Dylan, who stayed in today because all these nights of coming in between 2:45 and 5:30 am has him tired!  I am doing my damndest to avoid a fight today.

Some days, life just plain sucks.

RLP, I just added TEN LITTLE INDIANS to my Netflix queue. I have been wanting to see it ever since it was released...I have only a vague recollection of the film from when I saw it on tv when I was a kid....however, I have to admit that the groovy mod 60s music sounds kind of fun! We shall see.

LOL.  I actually thought of you and JRand while watching it.

You for Hugh O'Brian and JRand for Shirley Eaton...how on earth Ms. Eaton eluded JRand's most-loved list is beyond me.

It's also so weird seeing this beautifully photographed, well-produced and very nicely acted film being scored so inappropriately.

I suppose it could be a hoot under other circumstances.

"Good Friends" from "Applause"

"You and Me" from "Victor, Victoria"

Carole King's "You've Got A Friend"...in many versions.

Rodzinski and I had lunch with my brother and his family earlier this afternoon and they are now on their way to the airport.  I had a great visit with them and I hope that I can find an opportunity to see them again soon instead of in 2-3 years as has been the norm.

BK, knowing something of the situation,my advice echoes Larry's and others'.  Don't send the email.  I'm not much for absolutes and ultimatiums.  Just let things take their natural course, if there is no longer a friendship there, it will sort itself out and dwindle away.  Why forcibly close the door?

We both know the current distractions of the person involved and I expect that person is clinging to certain things and people that they believe will provide solutions to their perceived problems.  They probably won't and this too will pass and lessons will be learned.  But even if said things and people do provide solutions to those problems or some of them, I see no reason why that should preclude friendship with you...and this problematic friend will either learn this and grow up and invest the emotion and attention that are required of a friend or they won't and you will be well free of it.

Your email is about your pain.  I think there are better ways of telling a friend they've hurt you and taken you for granted than depriving them of your friendship.  If they don't get it; then the friendship's already over and you don't have to make a big display of cutting it off.

"might of"

I believe my Dear Friend meant "might have."  I've seen worse grammar and spelling on this board and others, DR Boremeconstantly.  How kind of you to point out the error.  No doubt you have similar calls to make around the neighborhood, so move your ass.
