TAKING THE BULL BY THE HORNS
« on: July 30, 2006, 12:47:29 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, you've taken the notes by the horns, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're trying to take the bull by the horns but, you know, they're cows, so they should just give it up.

Pilgarlic is a very interesting word and doesn't mean anything like you'd think it would mean.

Not really:

Main Entry: pil·gar·lic
Pronunciation: pil-'gär-lik
Function: noun
Etymology: pilled garlic
1 a : a bald head b : a bald-headed man
2 : a man looked upon with humorous contempt or mock pity

So BK, do you know all of these words or do you have a word-of-the-day calendar or do you just flip open a dictionary and point??

I mean, I don't doubt that you're intelligent enough to know all of these Word of the Day words, but how do you find them or decide on which to use?

I cannot reveal how we select the word of the day, although I do not know what a word of the day calendar is.

A Word of the Day calendar is just that...a desktop calendar (usually) that defines a different word for every day of the year.  You rip off a page each day and for each date, there's a word that's not commonly used, so that people can expand their vocabulary.  Here's a picture:

Frankly, I'm feeling the vague ennui just seeing that calendar.  Our words here at haineshisway.com are much more fun.

And on that note (A#), I'm off to bed.  Good night, BK.  I'm glad the cabaret series is going well.  And that you finally met Cillaliz in person.  I met her when she came to Portland and she is a very nice person. :)

And the word of the day is: PILGARLIC!
"Give that GIRL A CLIP!" laughed Fannie and Jan, as their friend Nancy took her turn and sat in the barber's chair.  It was the least they felt they could do to support Anita, after her chemotherapy had left her with a PILGARLIC noggin.  If one must loose her hair, they all would!

They'd better all arrive at the same time, so you can share the same meal, or your diet is gonna be busted!

Hiya Woody!
It's 3:52 a.m. here in Los Angeles. What time is it where you are?

Can you help me with something? I'm trying to add an image to my message but it isn't working. I have a PC and the jpeg image is saved in C: Windows.

HELLO ONE AND ALL and ALL AND ONE!

I hope some of you can make it to the cabaret series at L.A. City College. Cabaret West, of which I am the Calendar Editor, is proud to be a co-sponsor. We've been working very hard to get the word out.

Coming up in the final week are:
Thursday, August 3 - Kevin Spirtas (Ladies, you'll love him!)
Friday, August 4 - Jason Graae (Supremely talented and hilarious!)
Saturday, August 5 - Linda Purl (Absolutely sublime. Don't miss her!)

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and the phone number to call for tickets and information is (323) 953-4000, Extension 2990.

See you there?
Donna Abraham

Still in MTL.
Catching up on some posts.

Yes a designer does get kicked off Project Runaway and it is already been announced who it is. So it isn't that much of a surprice.

SPOLIER.

Bruce mentioned that he received a German version of The Creature Wasn't Nice aka Spaceship aka Naked Space.

From my website everything about Bruce Kimmel here is a German movie psoter.

German Poster for Naked Space which translates as "Nincompoops In the Universe".

It is now 7:11 a.m., and I've got to get to work!  Yipes, spent too much time researching anime, which a co-worker will be attending a convention of/for in a week.

DR TCB asked yesterday

Gee, has  anyone heard the rumor that Broadway's Tarzan is gay?
(sorry, I am tired of talking about Lance Bass)

The answer is yes. I saw a tv interview with him and immediatly knew. AND there have been blind items flyinga round that the producers are trying to get him from partying around town at various gay venues.

Good morning all! It is very early here in LA, but my body is still on central time and since that's where it will soon be going, I'm not going to sleep any more.

I had a very lovely time with BK. I enjoyed the Three Men and a Baby Grand. The halibut  at Cafe Figero was great as was the pie  (I had the apple, bk the chocolate cream) at House of Pies and the yellow cab couldn't have been quicker to get there to take me back to my hotel.  It was a most delightful evening.   I posted a photo last night, so you'll have to look at yesterday's discussion to see it

Sunday morning greetings!

Hi, DR Cillaliz!  Loved the photo of you and BK and those yummy looking pies.  It sounds like you've had a great weekend in LA - now on to NYC in October!
