Yesterday a litter of Bernese Mountain Dog puppies were born.  If all goes as planned, one of those pups will be ours.   :D

PILGARLIC, baby, PILGARLIC!  Now, THAT'S a word.

This weekend is the annual garlic festival in Gilroy, the garlic capital!  I never went when I lived in California and have never been in town when it's happening since I moved.

I can make plans for the 5th until I know about my friend in PA.  It is very frustrating.  I would hate to miss the show.

TPunk we drove through Gilroy on our last trip to Los Angeles.  It smelled nice, not too strong.  I'm not sure I would want to be there this weekend.

Had some fun viewing tonight.

I began with THE DORIS MARY ANN KAPPLEHOFF SPECIAL, Doris Day's first TV special. My memory was that it was all lip-synched and full of filtered photography. I had a VERY faulty memory. I was surprised at the amount of "live" singing Doris (and Perry Como) did. Really enjoyed seeing this again.

I was quite disappointed that the ensemble wasn't given any billing in the credits (just like the danicing ensemble got nothing in LIZA WITH A 'Z.') I believe the taller of the two dancers in "Gypsy in My Soul" was Garrett Lewis, but I sure would have loved some confirmation of that in the credits.

The special features on the disc were really quite interesting. In addition to an interview with the executive producer of the show, there was a section of outakes and extended moments with each of the segments on the special. How wonderful that was!

I had about 30 minutes before the start of DEADWOOD so I put in a CSI: MIAMI episode from Season 2. This was the one that features a cargo plane crashing right in the middle of Miami Beach. Didn't finish it, so I'll pick up with it tomorrow. I don't remember how this ended.

DEADWOOD did feature the arrival of Wyatt and Morgan Earp but somewhat differently than they were portrayed by Costner and company in WYATT EARP. Interesting take on the brothers.

And some surprising turns of plot with some of the other threads, too.

GREY'S ANATOMY had a repeat of its Christmas episode. I don't mind watching holiday episodes outside the holiday season. The good ones have messages that play in any month or season, and this one certainly did. Quite wonderful.

Speaking of garlic, the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival is going on right now in the South Bay area.  This festival celebrates garlic in more ways than you can imagine.

Garlic ice cream, anyone?

Ah, great minds and all.

In high school I did a production with Gilroy's Theater Under the Stars, we did some rehearsing and all of our performances outdoors and the scent was always quite strong.

You can sometimes smell the garlic at my mom's house, over a half hour away!

I am back from my whirlwind weekend trip to Medford and I am exhausted! Actually, now that I took a little nap I am feeling fine...but when I drove my car into the driveway, I was ready and willing to collapse!

I think Dog Bosco had a blast on this, his first trip (so far as I know), to Southern Oregon.

At my nephew Jeffery's wedding reception at the Touvelle Park on Saturday (the wedding was last month in Hawaii) little kids were constantly requesting to take Bosco on walks, which my dog loved every minute of! He was quite an attention getter. there were 3 other dogs in attendance, but the kids really seemed to prefer Bosco's mild mannered company. Of course I was very proud of how well behaved he was and what great care the various and sundried kids took of him.

Bosco was getting a lot of hugs and pats on the head that day!

I have had no energy today.  I did eat very reasonably, although I didn't really enjoy what I ate (the usual chicken tenders and macaroni and beef), and I did jog.  I've tried to watch DVDs today, but I kept nodding off.  Despite the large number of DVDs I have, I cannot find anything that interests me.

As DR Jane, mentioned we met this morning in Ashland, and along with her DH Keith, we went on a wonderful hike up on a cool trail in the mountainous area nearby....it was so much fun! I really enjoy hiking and I was so thrilled by all the flora which brough back wonderful memories of my childhood living out in the Medford countryside.

DR Jane just gets sweeter and more lovely every time I see her and DH Keith is a fantastic guy! I can see why Jane has kept him around all of these years! They make such a perfect team!

Dog Bosco loved walking on the trail and if dogs could smile, his would have been from ear to ear! When Jane and Keith arrived Bosco made a beeline for Keith and after much petting he then made his way over to Jane! Bosco is such a social guy!

Right now he is sleeping by the couch, snoring! LOL! He got a LOT of excercise this weekend!

If I had that Doris Day special I'd watch that.  Maybe I'll pull out those best of Tony Awards DVDs - those are always fun.  I don't have the latest volume, though.

BK, perhaps you might enjoy watching a Twist movie...or a Vera Ralston murder mystery from the 1940s!
