Well, you've read the notes, the notes were august, and now it is time for you to post until the august cows come home, which won't be in August.

I can say that we BARELY beat out last July's poor showing in number of posts, but we actually lost to last July (I didn't think that would be possible) in number of hits.  We'll have to make up for it in August.

I forgot to mention in my frenzy at the end of yesterday that I received my sparkling prize for last week's Unseemly Trivia Contest!  Thank you very much, BK!

Good morning, all!  I am not looking forward to this trip today.  I will be happy to see my father, and I hope that this week will get his health back on track,  On the sibling front, I am not looking forward to whatever tensions and angst are still brewing from the early July visit.

My sister-in-law Jo ann told me on the phone last night that my father, unbeknownst to me, had decided to make his own decisions on medications he was taking, which has his oncologist thoroughly angry.  On top of that, since he was feeling better, he's been out and about too much every day with his lady friend, his immune system's already a mess, and he's picked up something.  It will be an interesting week,  As I said, I am not looking forward to it.

Do you mean A FORTIORI, technically a phrase, not a single word?  Because if you do, I agree, even more so!

A very good morning to one and all!  I had that conference I had to go to last week and I forgot to charge my laptop for the bus trip yesterday so that is why I was E & T all last week.

I'm sorry for the problems you are going though, DR Elmore.  My very best vibes to both you and your father and also to your family.  It sounds like everyone could use them.

Thank you DR Ben for the lovely CD.  I haven't gotten the change to listen to it yet but I promise I will.  In fact, had I thought, I could have been listening to it as I type this.  I will bring it with me tomorrow.

The conference was  enjoyable.   All Human Resource stuff.  I had to listen to a lot of speakers on different topics, some more interesting then others.

I won a couple of prizes but what I really liked was the case they gave out to everyone who attended.  It would make a nice carry on for a plane trip with tons of room fpr the computer and other stuff.  :)

I very lightly skimmed some of the posts I missed.  I caught someone asking about ForTran--what did it mean.  Thats  Formula Translation.

At one time in my life I took some computer programing and was told I am quite good at it.  I wish I had stuck with it. Oh, well.

Drat--we're almost to my bus stop so I have to go.  School starts at the end of the week so traffic will start to back up giving me more time here.  Ever hear of anyone who enjoyed a slow interstate?  I might be a first!  :)

Have a wonderful day all!

Well... The temp in Central Park just hit 80 on it's way on up to 100...  And the National Weather Service just extended the High Heat Warning through Thursday... Of course, I'm supposed to head down to DC Wednesday night, and I was hoping to drive... But I'm not too keen on driving my car in all that heat, so... We'll see... :-\

As for the Topic of the Day...

Holden Caulfied ("The Catcher In The Rye") - It's just such a cool name.

-I'm sure others will come to me throughout the day.

Sending vibes for DR ELMORE....which don't have to go as far east as usual.

Good news about the kitties, DR CILLA LIZ.

MR BK - it sounds like yesterday was full of wonderful moments!

Very hot here, too.

Congrats on the Sara Shane interview, DR MBARNUM!  That is a great photo!  Most HHW'ers will probably remember her as the young girl Rock Hudson has in the speedboat with him in MAGNIFICENT OBSESSION.

And she was a friend of Miss Allison Hayes.

Clark Kent is one of my favorite fictional names.

I also like Judith Traherne.

Of course Miss Ayn Rand came up with my favorites:

Dagny Taggart and Dominique Francon.
Howard Roark and Francisco D'Anconia and Hank Reardon.
And John Galt.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I'm so excited to have won the Unseemly Trivia Contest this week!  Beginner's Luck, I'm sure.

TOD - Just last night at the dinner table, we had quite a lengthy conversation about the name, Ichabod Crane.

Good morning!

Just after 10 a.m. and the temperature is climbing steadily to a high of 98 today. And no rain in the forecast until Saturday.

Argh!

I really love the name Scarlett O'Hara. It fits the character so beautifully (and much better than Miss Mitchell's original name Pansy O'Hara would have).

I'd have to go with Atticus Finch for favorite male name, too.

I have last night's MEDIUM rerun to watch at some point today, but I don't know if I'll get to PROOF today or wait awhile. I saw the play on stage not too long ago, and the memory of it is still fresh. I may find something else to watch.

A reminder for those who get TCM that Robert Osborne's interview with Angela Lansbury is tonight. Looking forward to that very much though I'm guessing it'll trod over much of the same territory that other interviews and the A&E Biography show on her did. Still, it'll be nice to have an up-to-date interview.
