I'm back from Act One and the first 5 minutes of Act Two.  The huge set for the house went off track and the remainder of the show was cancelled.  I look forward to seeing the rest of it, and I will refrain from saying anything about it now.

I'm going to go finish up the Brain score I was working on and go to bed.

Tomorrow my friend and ex-partner Frank and I are having lunch and then going to see THE PRESTIGE. This is one of the few fall movies I have been looking forward to seeing.

We went to see this a few nights ago. We haven't been out to the movies in a while but a friend of mine did the sound design and I always like to see what he's up to (he won an Oscar for "Master and Commander"). We really enjoyed it, and I don't think I'm biased when I say that the sound design makes the film! I am also a Tesla fan and I didn't know that Tesla was a character in the film (played by an almost unrecognizable David Bowie) so that was a bonus. Great art direction and editing, too!

Are we DR's sure this is an actual word or just a typo due to a bandaged finger?

In bk's defense, sort of:

He has previously used words not found in unabridged dictionaries like M-W OnLine

Just finished interviewing a very nice actor, singer, and Broadway performer... John Gabriel.

JRand56 may recall him as the star of Al Adamson's biker spy film HELL'S BLOODY DEVILS and as Allison Hayes' husband in an episode of 77 SUNSET STRIP!

He was also in the films THE HUNTERS, STAGECOACH (1960s version), EL DORODO, and STORY OF RUTH.

And he played the professor in the pilot for GILLIGAN'S ISLAND. However he was replaced by Russell Johnson.

I will say that the first act of Mary poppins felt very much like a concept musical, maybe even a string of songs held together by an idea and only the slightest of plots a la COMPANY.  At several points, it felt like one song could be moved fom one place to another without hurting the storytelling.  Nothing wrong with that per se, and i'm looking forward to seeing the second act to see how it all builds in a cumulative effect.

Ask BK Day:

Do you know (or did you know) an actress in L.A. by the name of CJ Hincks, or Candace Hincks, or sometimes Candy Hincks?  She did a lot of episodic TV in the 70s and 80s.

No, the name doesn't ring a bell.

Today's title seems to remind me of  song by Connie Francis, I think, by a similar title.

DAKOTA BAD-LANDS!

Rapid City Journal:
Quote
Judge: Todd County school district violated student’s constitutional rights
...
Attorney Dana Hanna filed the complaint last December against the school district, superintendent Richard Bordeaux, board members Randy Her Many Horses, Marlon Leneaugh, Charles Moe, Steve Her Many Horses and Troy Heinert

Ernest Doe, then 14, admitted to being one of four students who drove past Todd County Middle School late on Oct. 14, 2005, and to firing a .22-caliber rifle near the school from a moving vehicle.

This news report raise a few serious questions:

A. What is the sex of Randy Her Many Horses?
B. What is the relationship, if any, between Randy and Steve Her Many Horses?
C. How amusing is it to read the Rapidy City phone directory?

der Brucer

Is there a Mr. & Mrs Our Many Horses?
Is there a Johnny Too Many Horses?
Is there a Bruce What Is It Fish?

Today's title seems to remind me of  song by Connie Francis, I think, by a similar title.

In addition to Promise, Promises, Connie's writers catered to her notorious stammer by providing her with hits like:

A Ba Bi Bi
Addio, Addio
Bye Bye Love
Ciao, Ciao Bambina
Comme Ci, Comme Ca
Eli Eli
My Love, My Love
Quando Quando Quando
Que Sera Sera
Quizas, Quizas, Quizas
Toot Toot Tootsie
