DR Jose: I was just about to reply when the topic was locked! I don't know what I'm supposed to answer though! You had me hooked at pizzelles! I'm Italian-American, and I grew up on pizzelles and biscotti. My grandma makes batches all the time! Sooooooooo good!

My fave Christmas songs: O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, O Holy Night, among others. I can't think of versions now.

Maya and I have a request for all of you DRs. A friend of ours was quite upset today. He didn't go into much detail, but he was physically (and emotionally) hurt. If you wouldn't mind, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He is such a sweet guy, and what happened was so terrible. :(

OOohh... It wasn't my mom making pizzelles.. Sorry, Laura... Rather it was my brother, Don, trying out that "really expensive Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookie recipe"!  -They're sooo good... and who cares if they really are or aren't Needless Mark-Up's recipe... and they're sooo many of them.. And they're still warm....

Mmm, Jose! I want cookies! All this talk of holiday treats is so tempting. I will *not* go upstairs for snacks. I will *not* go upstairs for snacks...(repeating this mantra)

Yes, please do give this friend of ours all the warm vibes you can.  Something really wrong was done to him, and needs healing.

Plain Tidings? I have no idea. :( Sorry about that, Jose! Btw, I would love to go see Camelot and to meet you, but I don't think I have a way to make it to DC. :( I would certainly love to meet you, though!

Jose wrote yesterday (actually, less than two hours ago):

Oh, and just last night, the local public radio station played a song called, "The 12 Steps of Christmas".  I need to find that recording!  Made me laugh out loud.

If you heard the same recording that I have, it's on the CD "A Christmas Survival Guide:  Anxiety, Isolation, Desperation...The Musical!"  It's sung by Janet Metz and is really hysterical.  The CD says that it's "A small show for a cast of three, (but we used twenty three)."

There's a website www.christmassurvival.com/ and it has samples of the songs under the links for "Songs" and "Order CD".  I highly recommend it!

Such nice pictures.....Swedish Chef's Hat!  Even lovelier in person.

Jed - and to think that the set is now struck!

Such wonderful posts and stories.  I love to start my day at HHW.  And I hope everyone keeps practicing their dances!  And yes the twirl is especially interesting!  ;D

My favorite Christmas songs...hmmmmmmmmm.....

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Doris Day, Judy Garland

that will start me out.

And just because:

Peyton Place, of course - Bus Stop - The Best of Everything - Love Is a Ball - Pocketful Of Miracles - The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.  And not to perpetuate old gossip, but at least the readers on this site will know who I am writing about - the lover of John Cheever.

RIP - Ms Hope Lange!

Some of my favorite Christmas songs come from the movies and Broadway. (A nice Jewish boy really shouldn't like the "traditional" songs). A good selection but not all my favorites are found below:

I think it's called Christmas Dinner, and it's done by Peter Paul and Mary on the Peter Paul and Mommie album.  An unbelievably moving narrative.  I challenge anyone to listen to the whole thing without crying.

And that's what makes a great Christmas song.

DR td - Dontcha just hate the waitin'?

Oy! do i hate the wait!  This one is going to be soooo long. . .mid-January until I hear any news.  hopefuly, the fact that the theater's founder recommended me will have a little pull, too.

Thank you so much for trying to get me Matt Bogart's CD for me  !  From the speech at the end, he sounded like just a really funny guy.  A wonderful dining companion I would imagine!

DR maya - - my best friend in Cincinnati KNOWS all of the Bogart family!  maybe she can hook you up with Matt's fiancee-less brother. . .wouldn't that be better than a cd? !? ! ?

Traditional Christmas Carols:
Some Children See Him (Nancy LaMott)
Silent Night (Oh, nearly anyone's)
O Holy Night (David Phelps; and for those of you who haven't heard this, find it, check it out).

ladodgerjon--

Congratulations and thanks for the pics.   The black and white one of the hands is wonderful.   That's the moment they hook you for good.  You might as well just give up and give in after that.  Such love.  It's a trick babies learn just before they came down from heaven-- it's passed on to them.  Puppies( of all ages) and babies pass these tricks on to the new ones, and they always work !!!!!

It would be too easy to say "Is that a trumpet in your tights, or are you just glad to see me?"......so I won't.  On the other hand, as the immortal Miss Mazeppa said, "If you gotta bump it, bump it with a trumpet."

Great pics last night and this morning, but DR Jed's purple tights have to take the prize. You could be King Henry VIII, DR Jed! I thought of Keith Michell the moment I saw the pic.

Favorite Christmas song, bar none, is "Do You Hear What I Hear? by Bing Crosby. I don't feel in the Christmas mood until I hear it every holiday season.

I adore Andy Williams' two classics: "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "The Holiday Season." And Judy's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is unmatched. I love her "Merry Christmas" from IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME, too. An odd title to a movie that takes place mostly during the winter months and holidays.

Oh, favorite Christmas songs...We Three Kings, Carol of the Bells, Snowfall.

Anything by the Harry Simeon Choral is great, and that song by the misfit toys in the old Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer special.

I won't be able to make chat tonight. It's the last of my holiday gatherings: a bunch of guys going out to a restaurant and then going back to one of our homes to exchange presents. I am grateful for all the great and generous friends I have, believe me, but I am PARTIED OUT.
