I saw "Dreamgirls" this afternoon and really liked it (and they just announced who won best supporting actor in a movie...very appropriate ;))!  I forgot that I'd heard that Loretta Devine in the movie.  That was a nice touch.  Jennifer Hudson was very, very good.  When Beyoncé was singing, she was fierce, but her acting...not so much. ::) She still needs some experience.

Tomorrow I'll have tonight's CBS comedies to watch, but other than that, I think I will have caught up. The DVR won't be picking up a HD broadcast of ROME until late WEdnesday night, so I won't see it until Thursday.

And while I'm in an opinionated mood...

Isn't it a trifle too soon for those kids who had been kidnapped and rescued to start doing the media rounds?  One of the boys and his family is scheduled to appear on the Today Show tomorrow morning.  What next?--a stop on The View and then Letterman?  I don't know what's worse--that the family wants their fifteen minutes of fame so soon or that the networks are so eager to give it to them.
Exactly our views on the "USE" of Crocodile man's daugheter whether she and her Mother be willing or not.  It is exploitation of a child.

I notice "Little Miss Sunshine" is up for at least 4 BATFA awards.  Well I see a connection!

Did anyone else notice that just about every time they showed Annette Benning she was drinking champagne?  Just wonderin'.

Is that with the chill factor or does it feel colder?

How long does it take you to layer on all your clothes before going out?   ;D

That is the air temperature... Wind chill is flirting with -35 to -45.

About 10 minutes total... YOu have to have a plan...

I thought Cameron Diaz looked awful at the Globes, but just her hair. I didn't pause long enough to look at her dress.

You didn't miss much.  Her hair was not very well kempt (in my opinion) and the dress had too much rufflage...and it was a light pink.  It didn't go with her hair, at all.  Here's a picture of her with a picture of Justin Timberlake.

Oh!  Amy Sedaris is on Letterman tonight.  :)

Btw, I LOVE her "hostess" book, "I Like You."  The Children's Party Games section is very "helpful".  ;D

Oh damn I missed it!  I love Amy. Are you a fan of the strangers with candy series? or the movie?

Drew Barrymore, one of the presenters, looked real good in pink, though.  And America Ferrera had a beautiful purple dress.  Loved her speech. :)

I gather that Dreamgirls won a whopping three awards - this is nothing to shout about - it's not like NINE awards or FIVE awards - it's probably the lowest sweep in the history of the Globes.  I am the ANTI-cheerleader.

Then after last year's Oscars for "Crash" and "Hustle & Flow" there's not much left in terms of credability.  (IMHO).

It's always interesting to check out Mr Barkalot's "Oscar" tipping site. I wonder how much influence these awards will have.

Sasha Baron Cohen just won for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.  He's tall!  And (as himself) he's pretty darned good looking! ;)

As with DR td, and no doubt a few other Hainsies, I collect Oscar nominated songs. The "soundtrack release of "Happy Feet" will create problems.  One Cd is of the score  and there is another of the songs - but they are not as they were sung in the film (Yet is the official soundtrack!).

I don't find Mr Cohen funny at all.  And I didn't with his Ali G act either.

Horse and Courses.  Some people think Dreamgirls is brillant.  IMHO it makes "Chicago" look like ART.

Sad to say - I liked "RENT" better than Dreamgirls! (Or disliked it less!)

PS Too bad Vanessa Williams didn't let Ugly Betty folks dress her - she looked a fright - like she'd been up all night and was hastily running on stage to sing "Last Midnight"!

TOTD:

Double Indemnity is a must!
Monty Python's Holy Grail
Somewhere in Time
Breakfast at Tiffany's
American Graffiti

Some others I would include:

Charade
Grease (okay, I know but I think I do need a cheesy one. I love the music but i cringe sometimes when a musical is made into a movie)
Lady and the Tramp
Circle of Friends
Chicago
