Shrimp boats is a comin',
Their sails are in sight.
Shrimp boats is a comin',
There's dancin' tonight.

Why don't-cha hurry, hurry, hurry home?

Look, here the shrimp boats is a comin',
There's dancin' tonight.

I've written a bit.  Cloudy out, and every time someone walks by they are wearing big coats, so I don't know that I'll jog this day.

For those of us who have watched movies all our lives -- and are past 40 ;) -- we've all heard yummy-sounding seafood orders in restaurant scenes.

for instance:

Oysters Rockefeller
Clams Rockefeller
Lobster Thermidor

The lobster sounds good to me.

I won't be available to post like the dickens (ah, another one of those sayings that make you think what does "like the dickens"  mean .. or is it Dickens as in people who did something in a craze?...)

"Dickens" was a euphemism for the Devil way back in Willy S's England.

My cats like that, too. You can get it for cheap at Asian grocery stores, or for not-so-cheap at the pet stores, where they call it "kitty caviar"!

Thanks for the Asian Grocery store tip. I'll check that out. I pay too much at the pet store, but they do call it Bonita Flakes

Best fish I ever tasted:  blue dolphin.  Wonderful fish.

When I was XO on the Rockville (an oceanographic research ship) we spent a lot of time "lying to" in the Tongue of the Ocean near Andrus Island in the Bahamas. I used to pull cheap meat (liver) from the general mess to use for bait and we would launch the motor whale boat and go fishing for Dolphin (not Flipper, folks - dolphin is a game fish like mahi-mahi). When the fish are fresh-caught they have iridescent skin that rapidly fades after they are landed. A load of fish would be brought back to the stern, hoisted to the fantail (where the ship's cook filleted them on the spot ), got fresh bait, and set out back to sea.

Dinner that night was to die for!

SHILL ALERT  :)

Skip's show HERRINGBONE will be part of the Williamstown theatre Festival in June, directed by Roger Rees and starring B.D. Wong.   (I believe htis is the same festival where DR Jose worked last summer.)

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/105257.html

And the same theatre where I worked in 2000!

Kudos to Skip!  I hope it's a huge success.

DR Cillaliz,  thank you for the package.

Miss Karen, safe travel vibes!

DR Cason, don't embarass us!

I forgot shellfish earlier, did I not?  I've never had oysters on the half shell, but I would like to try one.

I do love me some friend or steamed clamsd and oysters, and the steamed mussels at Elaine's and other places I've been were quite faboo!

- I know it's gross, but there are times during the Jewish holidays, when I was quite fond of Aunt Lillie's herring in sour cream.

What's not to like! I always keep a large jar in the refrigerator (I also like the ones in plain vinegar sauce - a great side for Ham & Cheese or Liverwurst sandwiches).

My mom loves herring in sour cream.  I like the taste of it, but I could never make a meal out of it like she does.

She has Philly good taste.

Pan fried oysters popular at home?

I forgot to mention that I ran into my neighbor today and she was telling me about dressing the meanest bitch on Broadway last week.  The lady's been notorious for years but since she didn't get rave reviews and no one's waiting at the stage door, she's getting ballistic.  We then exchanged horror stories we've heard about working on a show with Lauren Bacall, and I think the current lady is modeling herself after her.

I am sure that slugging her in THE SOPRANOS was payback.

If anyone is in the mood, I could use some help. I'm on the LGBTQ committee for our residential division and one of my tasks is to help put together a list of movies for our film night. The audience will be LGBTQ teens- middle school and high school aged.  Right now we're just brainstorming titles and most of what I've come up with so far are R rated- which is okay but I'd like a little variety.  Here is what I've come up with so far:

Set it Off
Boys Don't Cry
In & Out
The Birdcage
But I'm a Cheerleader
Camp
Longtime Companion
The Brandon Teena Story
Object of My Affection
Edge of Seventeen
Ma Vie En Rose
Get Real
Different for Girls
Beautiful Thing
The Incredibly True Story of Two Girls in Love

If anyone has other films they've enjoyed and I've left off, please let me know. Thanks!
