Best fish I ever tasted:  blue dolphin.  Wonderful fish.

I remember my mom tackling lobster tails...and once, at Myrtle Beach, an entire lobster...in restaurants.

I like a good lobster tail.  And, when I have the patience, I can crack crab with the best of them.

I'm not at all a fan of clams, mussels, oysters.

DerBrucer-I don’t agree with the Robert A.  Heinlein quote, but the photo is darling, makes me want to get Sherlock a cat.  Our cats and dogs have always been wonderful together.

I think it would be awfully funny if this production of Grease got stuck with those two.

Well...ya know.  WE (this here forum) MIGHT be able to make that happen.

As a group effort, that is.  We each would have to vote for Matt and Ashley each week a minimum of 200 times.  That might be quite sufficient to keep them in the running until the finals.

Unfortunately, though, NBC doesn't allow text votes.  So...I'm thnking there's probably a charge per vote.  Not much chance of this show falling into the same nasty trap that "American Idol" is subject to.

I'm up, I'm up.  I forgot about catfish - Hamburger Hamlet used to have divoon fried catfish and clams platter - I don't like clams, but I sure did like 'em fried.

Warning about new knives:

They tend to be very, very sharp so be careful.  When we got our set of Cutco knives we all had a few serious cuts.

Now they aren’t as sharp, in fact I just sharpened a few of our knives.  Keith did something  to my Wustof paring knife & it was all jagged.  At least I have the knife.  Yesterday he helped me search the trash for it after I insisted it was the only place it could be.  I’ve learned the hard way if knives or silver are missing, check the trash quickly.

I have never sharpened a knife, which is why my knives can never cut anything.

SHILL ALERT  :)

Skip's show HERRINGBONE will be part of the Williamstown theatre Festival in June, directed by Roger Rees and starring B.D. Wong.   (I believe htis is the same festival where DR Jose worked last summer.)

Herring!  I  knew we forgot something - I know it's gross, but there are times during the Jewish holidays, when I was quite fond of Aunt Lillie's herring in sour cream.  It was never part of the Williamstown Theatre Festival, though.

Congrats to Skip - Herringbone is excellent.

As a child growing up with a restaurant owner as a father, I fell in love with lobster, with lots of butter for dipping.  I haven't had it in years, but I've been thinking about it recently.

When Peter and I were up in Boston last week we had some down time between the NPR interview and the screening, so he took me up to a famous old place that serves fried clams (with or without "bellies") and we also had a big lobster with lots of butter. It had been years since I'd had one but it was deelish. They asked if I wanted to choose mine from the tank but I've never been able to do that, or to cook live ones myself. I just don't want to know my lobster!

Callie likes to eat Bonita Tuna flakes...

My cats like that, too. You can get it for cheap at Asian grocery stores, or for not-so-cheap at the pet stores, where they call it "kitty caviar"!

My mom loves herring in sour cream.  I like the taste of it, but I could never make a meal out of it like she does.

My favorite variety of Pepperidge Farm Goldfish is pizza (though, alas, I can no longer indulge in them as I used to.)

Little known fact:  In Jewish neighborhoods in brooklyn, the stores sell a product that functions like Hamburger Helper.  it's called Herring Aid.

We were so poor in Brooklyn...

How poor were you?

We were so poor that Mom used to mix Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper and call it Surf 'n' Turf.

(I think that's an old Gabe Kaplan joke.)

Oh, while I was packing with thoughts of fish food in my head .... fish tacos!  (I love those).  So I thought I'd part on that thought:  fish tacos...

I love fish tacos, too! There's a place nearby that makes wonderful ones with spinach and mango salsa. Yummmy!

A very old parody:

With one poisson
One very special poisson
A feeling deep in your sole
Says not to lunge for that pole

(That's all I can remember)

What do we think of this?  There is a poster at All That Chat who has, on many occasions, come after me without provocation.  Here is the first sentence of a post he just made, which has nothing to do with me.  However, do we think this fellow comes to haineshisway.com?  Right down to the use of the word "shall" and a beloved choice of hainsian words - Pogue will especially be amused:

"...somebody pines for the days when artists wrote witty, sophisticated musicals, I shall laugh, and then I shall laugh again. "

I don't like clams, but I sure did like 'em fried.

Then at last come the clams.
Steamed under rockweed and poppin' from their shells.
Just how many of 'em galloped down our gullets,
We couldn't say ourselves!

Most memorable lobster roll (and also my first pufferfish) while editing Sacco and Vanzetti in the Hamptons:
