Well, you've read the first notes of the New Year (if you haven't and you don't then you are taking a chance that a pox will befall you), so you know the routine.  To it, I say.

My first task of the new year (HHW time zone) is to peruse my DVD collection. I have no idea when things were released but I shall list the DVD's I bought or received as gifts in 2003. The Movies list is easier. I only saw the following:
LOTR TT
Finding Nemo
A Mighty Wind
Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets.
Chicago.

Happy New Year to you all as I make my first post of 2004. We leave London later today (boo hoo) and return to New York City. It will be culture shock after 16 days of English accents and pleasant people and an unlimited tube pass, to return to New York City. Ah, well, it must be done.

Enjoy your day my friends.

Happy New Year to all the Dear Readers.

We just got back from our sparkling (a word we haven't used here recently) soup-tasting party. This is the night that DR Sandra loves above all others -- the night we all play games and she really comes out of her shell. We played Cranium and Catch Phrase, and we all went out at midnight and shouted "Fresh Fish!" Then we toasted the New Year with sparkling apple juice.

Bang!*

Good morning!

What a lovely and amazing number of posts from last night - I will catch up on them when I get back up to Fairfax later today.  *I'm currently back home in Richmond on my roomie's computer, so...

I just wanted to check in and say HI!  And wish everyone a great 2004!  I had a lovely New Year's Eve with Steve - and theatre people can be so fun and funny sometimes!  :D

*Bang.. hmm.. I think I just heard two of them outside... I hope they were just a car backfiring or something like that... No sirens in the air, so...  I'm OK - just interesting...

Later.

And the problem I face is that I've got many here that I'm sure would have qualified, but I didn't have time to watch them in 2003 like LA STRADA, ONE TWO THREE, TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE, YANKEE DOODLE DANDY, FIREFLY.

Happy New Year Morning all!

Thank you for the compliments on my doggies, MBarnum.  The big boy sitting up is Bear and the one laying down is Brandi.

I have to tell those with pets that get upset with fireworks/thunder/loud noise, I was talking with a lady at the local dog park about how upset Bear gets at New Years and the 4th of July.  She told me to try something called Rescue Remedy that you get at your local health food store.  It's all natural.  Humans use it at times of stress but she said it worked wonders for her dog.

I  bought a bottle and gave Bear 6 drops last night in a Vienna Sausage (I always keep a can of those on hand for pill giving) and he handled the fireworks like a champ!  I couldn't believe it.  He growled a few times but stayed laying down instead of racing around the house like a mad dog.

He's up this morning with no seeming ill effects either.  He's at my feet as I type this,  chewing on a few Milk Bones.  I can now highly recommend Rescue Remedy.  I may have to try it myself the next time I feel stressed.  Maybe it would help when I have to do a presentation at work.

Sorry I didn't mean to go on and on about this but when I find something helpful, I like to pass it along.

I'm so glad we all made it thought the night with no problems.  I was in bed shortly after ten as I thought I would be.  I woke at about 8 minutes after midnight with all the loud bangs around here.  Bear was peacefully asleep at the time so I turned over and went back to sleep myself.

Well, I have a Rose Parade to watch.  Have a good first day all!  We'll be having the traditional pork/Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes for News Years Day dinner.   I think that’s a German thing.  Here in the South I know most have black-eye beans and ham hocks but I’ve never tried that.  What do ya’ll have?
