I'll pick Asta in THE THIN MAN movies though some photography tricks were used to get some effects, and you can even see the wires pulling him to simulate dizziness in SHADOW OF THE THIN MAN.

More about GREASE. The "assignments" each actor was given to help round him out as the perfect Danny were ludicrous. I hated that part of the show.

Even more, I despise the segment where the actors all rag on each other. It's not really good natured ragging either. One of them called Austin a "showgirl," which was definitely hitting below the belt. I'm not saying that there isn't competition and maybe even hard feelings among the guys wanting this part, but we don't have to see it, and all four come away looking like gossiping old biddies jealous of one another's attributes.

AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, the Al Gore documentary on global warming that won the Oscar, is on Showtime this week, so I'll definitely be recording that. Looking forward to seeing it.

Yes, a few new episodes of shows tonight besides HEROES: the season (and possibly series) finale of THE CLASS and, naturally, '24.'

Good morning to the distinguished assemblage here in the virtual Living Room....

And a big CONGRATULATIONS to DR Jose for securing the show for which he was hoping.  That rehearsal space will be all the brighter for the glowing positive energy and beaming punim of dear Jose!

as to the TOD --

I liked the original Disney "The Shaggy Dog."  If I have time during the day, I'll try to dig out and post a rather interesting photo that I have...... very apropos of the TOD.

Life Lesson #336:

Do not walk in, sit down in the barber chair, and say, "Surprise me!," unless you really and truly are willing to be surprised.

I have never said that, never will!  I have had "surprises" I didn't ask for and not once was I pleased. :o

And one more shot before I go!  Last night, DR MBarnum wrote:
And I am not that fond of weiners in the morning.

After all the flack I got for two days about using my hand, not one vicious DRs commented on this post.  For shame, people!  Are you losing your touch?

You're right, DR ELmo.  What a sad commentary on the zinging abilities of the HHWers.  He had another one in that very same post:

"I don't see anything Freudian about my eating weiners."

....(only one explanation -- Mikey is everyone's favorite ... like ain't fair, what can I say...)

Damn! damn! damn!  I preferred to stay in and work on Liz' chart, but I had to go to 27th Street to begin ONCE UPON A MATTRESS.  So, I got to the subway platform and no trains!  Nothing local or express.  There's a big crowd, so this delay's been of some duration.  They never tell what the hell the problem is with the train you want, but every three or so minutes, the PA announces there's no uptown express service because of an "investigation" on the Brooklyn express line.  Sounds bad.  I'm home.  If my options are working or waiting for a train that may not come for another hour, I'd rather be home working.

TOD:
No favorite animals. I believe I mentioned once that my uncle was the director of photography on LASSIE for many years and that all shows which employed family members were mandatory viewing when I was growing up. It just dawned on me, too, that although I visited many, many movie sets as a child and met many stars, I was never on the LASSIE set, so I never met Lassie in person! (I believe that LASSIE was shot at Hal Roach studio in Culver City, which is where BK shot First Nudie Musical many years later. ) My uncle was given many gifts related to the show, including drinking glasses with a picture of Lassie on them. How's that for movie trivia!

In my own defense, I was waiting for DR TCB to make "weiner" comments. This seemed tailor-made for his talents.

Good Morning! again...

Back from Chelsea.. Back from the barber... And, I have to say, another great hair cut.  Which is good, since I don't want to come across as unkempt when I meet DR edisaurus in a few days.

Like DR JANE, I would NEVER say "Surprise me!" to a hairdresser. Even though I'm always very specific about what I want, more often than not I don't get it. I've never understood why it is so difficult to give the same cut each time. One friend of mine got so fed up with this that she cut her own hair for a year. I'm not that brave. I did recut my hair once when a hairdresser I went to on an LA visit gave me a cut that was soooo far from what I asked for and wanted. I made the mistake of mentioning I was in town for a visit, thus giving her no incentive for repeat business. I went to a nearby beauty supply store, bought a pair of haircutting scissors, and recut what I could.

Don't get me started on hairdressers!

DR elmore - And, yes, there was "earlier" incident downtown.  So, the C trains are running slower than usual, and the 1, 2, and 3 are well... screwed, apparently.

*I've actually made it a point - especially if I find myself running a little late to check the service advisories on www.mta.info before I leave the apartment.  And, thankfully, I've also learned to how to haggle with the gypsy cabs up here.

Yep... All that "behind the scenes" stuff is sooo irritating and extremely unprofessional.  Unfortunately, it's obvious the contestants are watching the shows, and most likely some other footage, that the producers have shot throughout the week.  And, in the 'real world', most, if not all, of that gossip would have never been shared or leaked.  Yes, people do say things behind closed doors, but they stay there.  It truly is a small business.  And since the contestants also seem to be living in the same bubble seven days a week, 24-hours a day.... UGH!  I'm guessing NBC wants to bring out the more soap opera like elements of the process in order to gain and keep more viewers.  Sad, sad, sad.
