I think it's a lack of something on my part, because I thought it was expertly done, but for some reason I didn't take to The Triplets of Belleville.

I did like the Oscar-nominated song from that better than the Oscar-winning "Hard Out Here for a Pimp" - were they in the same year?

I should have googled before posting; Triplets and pimp weren't in the same year.

I must get a good night's sleep one of these days.  Oh, I mean, I slept very well last night, just not long enough.

Yikes---I slept too late! This is what happened when we've been sleep deprived all week.

Now I must drop my car off to get a new wheel (because of the idiot who dropped a tree in the middle of I-285) go into a house-cleaning frenzy and cook a dish of some sort. I think I'll make a dip that tastes like buffalo wings---it includes chicken, bleu cheese dressing, cream cheese and hot sauce. Not healthy but yummy.

As for drugs, this seems modern. Don't know if it has the effect you're looking for, but you see a lot of commericals about it:

Zoloft is well tolerated and effective for the treatment of depression and certain types of anxiety disorders.

Zoloft is FDA approved to treat depression, social anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in adults over age 18. It is also approved for OCD in children and adolescents age 6-17 years.

I like the name Zoloft, but I'm not sure it produces the effects I'm looking for.  I think the closest is Valium, but Valium seems so yesterday.  I'm looking for today's Valium - the hip thing with the rich crowd, whether kids or adults to zone them out and treat depression.  Prozac is probably what I'll end up using (not personally - for the book).

BK, Prozac and Zoloft are not what you are searching for. They do not give any kind of hazy effect to the user. If you want accuracy you would do best to call a pharmacy. It sounds like you are looking for something that is more of a mood enhancer...although I don't know the exact circumstances of the story...but there are some over the counter things that are now sold in some alternative type stores that have been in the news lately and some that have recently been taken off the market, but that are still no doubt popular.

Most current medications are such that they don't leave anyone hazy as there have been great strides made in them in the last 20 or so years...that is why something from yesteryear may be the most likely choice.

When I worked in a pharmacy we would get lots of calls from people just asking questions about certain types of meds...so just give one a call or go in person...I am sure they would be more then happy to assist.

I have been racking my brain all morning trying to think of some sports related movies...and I can't think of a whole lot that I have seen...but of those that I have and enjoyed

Soccer - LAGAAN
Golf - FOLLOW THE SUN

two movies that deal with baseball will be released on a double feature very soon - SAFE AT HOME starring DR Jane's old school chum and interviewee of min e Flip Mark, and KILL THE UMPIRE starring my interviewee Gloria Henry and hunky Jeff Richards...I suspect both films will be added to my favorites list.

I love Bull Durham and Chariots of Fire  (and I love Best of Show -- but is showing dogs a sport?  I wouldn't think so, albeit a competition...so never mind on that one)

Others in the top ten:

Tin Cup
A League of Their Own
North Dallas Forty
Caddyshack
The Longest Yard
Breaking Away
Friday Night Lights
Rollerball

Honorable Mention:
Slap Shot
The Hustler
Brian's Song
Paper Lion
Seabiscut
The Big Lebowski

whipped cream with chocolate shavings.

Hmm..chocolate shavings and whipped cream?   I might sacrifice my principles for that and allow an occasional chocolate shaving be on the whipped cream if and only if it's a chocolate cream pie..

DR Ginny you must cease and desist with this talk (posting) of pies -- every time you do, I can't get pie and whipped cream out of my mind...and there is no House of Pies here for me to make a run to...

I have been reading the thread over at Film Score Monthly about the new cd release of The Creature Wasn't Nice.

It has become so adictive. Fascinating like a train wreck. I can't believe these people. It is not about the quality of the CD release but it has become personal about David Spear whether or not he should be called a "Hollywood Composer" or Bruce Kimmel is releasing the cd (he's not) or the amount of songs (3) Can't believe they repeat and repeat. Finally the one of the administrators has jumped in. A voice of reason in the wilderness.

Thank god nothing like this happens here.

AARRGGHH!!  I'm not able to record the Wall-to-Wall Stephen Sondheim.  Well, I can, but I can't record the whole thing.  I didn't clear my hard drive quickly enough to be able to have enough room to record it. :-\

Subject: Warning: Don't Fly Northwest

This is scary for anyone who travels frequently by plane!!!!

Quote
Actual crack in a Northwest DC -9 window frame! Fliers beware of the sub standard maintenance on the airplanes that you fly on. This is an actual crack that was found in the window frame on a DC-9. I'll definitely think twice before flying Northwest ..
