Off to get ready for tonight's HBO presentation of RUMOR HAS IT! It got scathing reviews and didn't go great business when it came out a year or more ago, but I like Shirley MacLaine, and the film should be fun for her alone. We'll see. . . .

It usually is enough for a new page!

Cats hate gutter balls, I hear! ;)

The turkey had a rough life in order to end up in the gutter!

Congratulations on your pineapple award François. I wonder if there is a pineapple poll tax. (An obscure Ballet reference).

Choreography by John Cranko, I believe, and music by Sir Arthur Sullivan, arranged by Charles Mackerras, based on the Bab Ballads of WS Gilbert.  I love this ballet!!!!

TOD

I have the same Favorite Shakespeare movie as Matt H..
Branagh's version of Much Ado About Nothing  I think it is just a fabulous production,  and the final shot is wonderful

Close seconds would be the before mentioned Romeo & Juliet, and it's musical cousin West Side Story

I also very much enjoyed Othello in which Branagh played Iago (did I spell that right?  probably not, knowing me) I don't think he directed that one though

His Hamlet  and Henry V also excellent

I loved Burton's & Taylor's Taming of the Shrew and there was  movie version of Twelvth Nihgt about 5 or six years ago I quite enjoyed although I cannot remember who was in it at the moment

I also liked the Mel Gibson version of Hamlet...not so much for Gibson as for  the actress who played Gertrude...oh lordy I cn see her face and cannot remember her name,...she layed Robin Williams mother in Garp...

to quite our former VP Dan Quayle (when HE was trying to recite "A mind is a terrible thing to waste")

It's a terrible thing to lose one's mind....

Oh but I disgree  .. (how unlike me!)

Ther used to be Shahkespeare festival in Stratfor CT, a n easy drive from my abopde and in high school I was drived there several times and saw exellent productions of Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice and  Midsummer's Night Dream

OH!  I liked  Kevin Kline in the movie version of A Midsummer;s Night Dream  but wasn't crazy about the overall movie

Oh, so touching - a mother preferring her son to have a dirty mind than a sincere soul.  :)

I wish all parents were so considerate.
