Today will be a busy day: Vacation Bible School, then the alarm repairman should come at some time during VBS and I'll have to explain the situation to him, then a board meeting tonight.

Other than AAA and the Phi Kappa Phi honor fraternity, I don't beloing to any other organizations presently.

In years past, I did belong (and do loads of volunteer work for) the Metrolina AIDS Project, Theatre Charlotte, the Charlotte Atari Users Group, and all the professional teachers' organizations for my local, state, and national groups (NEA, SCEA, LCEA).

The most fun social group I ever belonged to was the Charlotte Broach Society. It was ten gay men (some single, some partnered) who had holiday event parties, sponsored fund raising events for charities, and had a dinner at one of the group's homes each month. As people broke up, moved away, etc. the group eventually disbanded, but for about two years, it was THE most fun.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And it's strangely cool in the apartment, well at least in the living/dining room/kitchen area.  I guess a couple of people upstairs had their A/C units running all night on High, and since cool air goes down... :)

I haven't checked the listings, but I'm assuming there will be a new episode of MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST tonight. I'll probably record it and watch tomorrow since Bravo is so loaded with commercials now that it's hard to watch anything they show.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Hmm...  I did belong to a few groups on high school, but nothing really since then.  I think the closest thing to an "organization" would be when I do shows, and I'm part of a Company.  If I can go with that, then I'd have to say the most well run ones have been when I've been at Arena Stage, and Stage Manager Extraordinaire, Sue White, has been at the helm.  Even when the show/process/experience has been subpar, she always manages to take care of everyone, make them feel safe and comfortable, and keeps people on their toes (in a good way).  Plus, she cooks a great Weekend Brunch for everyone!

Lease vibes.....for DR ELMORE.  Find a place and STAY there!

Such interesting organizations everyone belongs to.

DR CP we must have a DumDum report.  I am sure that DR LAURA and I now have a new name for the board meetings we must attend.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I had to be at work an hour earlier than usual today for a meeting at the YWCA.  That means that I get to leave an hour earlier than usual, too  ;D

Well I have been a member of the board of PCPH since 1982, doing shows there since 1979...so I guess that's the only long lasting thing I've been involved.

Like everything else it has its ups and downs (a MAME reference)....but I get to do shows and meet lots of people....

And speaking of Xanadu... ;)

Well, I guess they did change part of Cheyenne Jackson's costume according to some of the new press photos.  It looks like he's gone sleeveless at least:

Hmm... I may have to see those arms the show again.  ;D They open tonight, and normally, I'd with them all, "Break A Leg!", but since someone already did, well... Merde!

Well, I need to get going.  I slept in a bit today, and I have a few errands to take care of before rehearsal at 1:30, so...

OH!

DR Singdaw - Yes, I will be attending Gypsy tomorrow afternoon along with DR Jason.  And we got great seats too for a great price courtesy of a special Broadway Company Member discount I came across on the callboard at ACL.  The offer was best available seating for only $40.00, and we were able to Grand Tier Mezz tickets which are normally priced at $110.  :)

I'm sooooo excited!

Mind you, I can't hardly blame them —
Those are probably the best arms on Broadway,
I know why nobody cares to hide them —
I should know,
I've eyed them.
So good! Oh!
The best arms on Broadway —
Are they made o'steel?
The best arms on Broadway —
If you doubt it, cop a feel.

I'm having lunch with best friend John today who's back from Merrie Olde England, so I must head downstairs and get cleaned up a bit.

DR MBarnum - How's your mother doing?

She is back at her apartment. I think she and my sister got tired of being around each other and now she is back home. LOL! She is still tired from the surgery but healing just fine.

Vibes to JMK and pets/family. That is a rather alarming situation and I hope all turns out well.

And although the over 100 degree weather might put a damper on the work next door to you...I am certainly not looking forward to the next few  days of triple digits and no air conditioning! Yikes!

I may spend my evenings in the movie theaters....good time to catch up on what is currently on the big screen.

The one thing that has been keeping me strangely calm throughout all of this--I got the multi-CD boxed set of Singers Unlimited yesterday and have been playing them nonstop (they were actually on yesterday when the guy flipped out).  Very relaxing and soothing, not to mention gorgeous.

DR JMK, I have been remiss in not sooner wishing you a happy outcome; the man's psycho and mean, so be careful.

You can't reason with someone who is mentally off or high on some drugs. I'm not saying this person is, but his behavior is way out in left field so you just don't know.  You can't just talk to everyone... after 21 years as a criminal defense lawyer, that's one thing I know for sure. At times just letting it rest is the best thing to do

Thanks for posting the link Singdaw. I read about the Pedi piece on Playbill On-Line yesterday in Seth Rudetsky's column but I hadn't found it yet. Hysterical, especially Little Edie!
