Had a lovely evening...

I went to a BBQ to celebrate DBF's successful defense of his dissertation in the Communication program at NDSU. He is now a Doctor!

He did quite well!

I thought I would post a picture of the proceedings. It was a fun evening with much chatter and laughing about interesting travails and an ensuing discussion about a man who disrobed at a panel at National Communications Association convention. At the cookout were two of his advisors on his doctoral committee: Michelle Shumate, Amy O'Connor, DBF Jon, Me (I apologize about how I look, I am not what you call photogenic), the chair of the department Paul Nelson and his lovely and very talented wife, Judy Pearson.

Six-thirty and I'm up. Why? Thunder, lightning, huge rainstorm = can't sleep. Five hours isn't quite enough but I guess it will have to do, and I guess I'll have to catch up on plane and on Friday.

The good news about being in an apartment rather than a hotel is that I merely opened the hall closet and there was a lovely, large umbrella. I know getting a cab will be impossible, so I'm hoping this umbrella will keep me nice and dry in my twenty block walk today. Then again, this is NY and the whole rainstorm may be done before I leave.
