Good morning!

It was so hot here during the night that every time I woke up during the night, I was aware that my central A/C was running, something that rarely happens during the night and early morning hours.

They're predicting another near-100 day today after the last three have been 102, 104, and 104 respectively.

I hate summer.

I hate summer too!  IT's going to be very hot here today as well.  Last night on the news they said "If you are thinking of mowing your yard tomorrow, don't. Wait until it gets cooler"   although I have a yard man, I will not exert the energy needed to call him.

I am going to take my car in at 1:00 for an oil change.  I forgot Paul doesn't have air conditioning in his car when I asked him if he wanted to meet me there for lunch.  Doesn't bother him, but I'm not looking forward to it. maybe we should try one of the new places that are really close to the car dealership

Speaking of the car dealership. They sent my Prius a birthday card and free car wash on the 2 year anniversary of me buying it. I thought that was really cute touch

My pick is the Zubrick 02 avatar.

Well, aren't we just on the same page -- I had already picked it and put it as my new one by the time I read this...hmmmmm...

I'm going to meet my grand niece, Sophie and my grand nephew Gabe on Thursday!  I'm more excited than I thought.   Actually, I was considering driving up tomorrow to meet them and then come back here until Thursday when I'd go back, but it's going to be so hot I don't think I want to be on the road.  I've waited this long, I can wait until Thursday

DR Laura, I'm watching the weather channel and they have a Home Depot guy talking about how enjoyable it is to remodel a bathroom.  Is that false advertising ;)

When I worked, I naturally lived for summer because of the (usually) extended vacation time (Some summer I had to be in school to keep my teaching credentials up-to-date). But now that I live in a perpetual "summer," it's my least favorite time of the year. It actually has nothing to offer positively for me that I can't get in the other months especially without the added expense of electricity to run the A/C, etc.

Yes, I much prefer DR Cason's new avitar now to his CABARET/Emcee. It was very nice of DR George to offer you so many choices. They were all fun.

My complaints about summer mostly have to do with the heat.  I don't handle it well physically.  I should probably say the humidity. I actually did ok in Phoenix, but here, it's just oppressive.

The new computer is still working out its kinks. You know how these new computers keep loading programs and checking out the system while you're trying to do work. Kind of maddening actually because it seems things are moving slowly when they're actually just opening up so you CAN work later.

Vista will take some time to be comfortable.

I think I just don't want to deal with the heat any more. I'm not a big outdoor person anyway (the things I love to do are indoors), but when I have to do chores/work outside, I want to be able to do it as comfortably as possible. This kind of heat and exhausting humidity is just numbing. Also contributes to my being in a very bad mood for weeks on end.

Well, the computer keeps telling me it needs to shut down so it can load and run McAfee successfully, so let me do that now.

Voting ends today for the 2008 Big Read title.  Should I vote for:

Funny in Farsi by Firoozeh Dumas

OR

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

OR

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver?
