and speaking of Jo Jo.

One of our better non-professional companies is presenting "Seusical" in March.

I'm very happy.

I love the show and consider it musically so much better than the winner of that year's Tony Awards - The Producers.

I'm stunned, too!
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps DR TCB is waiting (with bated breath and hook) for the DR td CABARET calender. . .coming soon to a Hallmark store near you. . . ::)

Now, THAT, I would buy!

Back from dinner - had to go to two restaurants since I exited the first in a huff, about which more later.

I began my evening of viewing with the remainder of THE SCARLET CLAW, a very enjoyable Holmes film and the commentary was just as entertaining.

I'm viewing - for the FIRST TIME - PRINCESS MONONOKE.  Will return when finished with this enchanting film. (In spite of seeing STARDUST last night, I'm NOT listening to Neil Gaiman's English translation).

Next came Luis Buñuel's THE MILKY WAY which certainly held my interest even when I didn't understand all the religious allusions he was throwing at me every thirty seconds. It's surreal, of course, as so many of his films are, and there are some funny moments amid all the lecturing on the evils of restrictive dogma of the Catholic Church, but when all is said and done, if you need a playbill to understand all these heresies he's using as symbols or illustrations of his points, it's too enigmatic for the casual consumer. Or at least for THIS casual consumer.

Fortunately the Criterion disc offers Ian Christie's illuminating video essay on the film which helps clear up a lot of the unfathomable nature of the events in the film. Didn't make me like it much better, but at least it was made a lot clearer that he was actually doing in the film what I thought he was doing.

To clear my cinematic taste buds, I put in the overlong but delightful HOW TO STEAL A MILLION. I still have about an hour to go with it, but I'll finsh it tomorrow.

This was the period when Peter O'Toole was still one of the world's handsomest men.

For MattH, since I know how he likes that talented girl! Listen to that voice!
What a waste! She did not prove that song right!

(Funny how she always reminded me of young Julie Andrews, for some reasons!....)
